Follow-Up Friday – September 20, 2013

September 20, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-Up Friday, the blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop

As I mentioned yesterday, my co-hostess this week is Linda from 2 Brown Dawgs.  I love reading about Thunder, Storm and Freighter and their hunting/training exploits.  If you are unfamiliar with this blog, you’re really missing out.  I learn so much from this lady.

You Make Me Smile, Then You Make Me Laugh

I wished I’d said, “Do you have a privacy pooper or a daring dumper?” Instead of “Do you have a dog that digs privacy when they poop?  Or is yours more like Delilah who will go wherever the urge hits her?”

Bren asked, ” BTW, do your babies do that kick back after they pooh and then going running like a bat outta he**?”

First, you can say hell on this blog Bren, no judgements. 😀  Second, sometimes Sampson kicks, but mostly he just dumps and runs.  Delilah is the kicker, but she doesn’t run afterwards.  She kicks a lot though.  Many times I’ve come awful close to getting a face full of dirt because of her kicking.

Margie Guess said, “BYW.. I’m Ginger the Cinderella girl.”

I don’t know what that means Margie, but you have my attention.  If you have a blog would you please provide the link?

Sampson HAS gotten better, in fact he pooped right on the lawn at the Vet’s last week.  But when he was younger, I would pick him up at daycare and he would head strait for the back yard so he could do his business.  I peed on the side of a thruway once so I’m not sure how I got this modest dog.

Good Morning Monday

Jan K said, “Oh no, just when I was getting ready to say how great his leg looks….has he had a limp before?”

He has had a limp before, but it comes and goes.  Since he limped on Monday I haven’t seen him do it again.  It could just be that he spends an awful lot of time just laying around and his leg was a bit stiff.  I’ll be keeping an eye on it.

Jen said, “Why the hell is he limping? Its gotta be a coincidence. He’s just trying to drive you off the deep end.”

I think you’re totally right.  He just wants me more neurotic than I already am!

Oh and I’m so glad that so many of you don’t like to just hand your pets over either. 🙂

Heya – Meet Taya

2 Brown Dawgs asked, “Hope she finds a good home! I wonder if Corgi rescue would take her?”

Taya went with a possible adopter for a couple days stay on a trial basis.  Sadly it didn’t work out.  Taya was guarding the towel hanging from the lady’s refrigerator and wouldn’t let her open it.   It made the woman uncomfortable, so she returned Taya.  BTW Taya was very happy to leave.

The family member who currently has her already has her hands full with three dogs, so she’s contacting a rescue who has already agreed to take Taya and is working on the best way to transition her.

For anyone who might be interested she is currently in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Sue said, “As for a plan… the kids have been warned – the dogs are getting everything.”

Oooh, you’re brave Sue, I haven’t told mine yet. 😀

Coffee and Donuts with Peggy Frezon

I don’t know about you, but when I was in my 20’s and 30’s I could eat just about anything and never gain an ounce.  NOW it seems like I look at a donut and I’ve gained a pound.

Sometimes I feel like it’s hopeless.  I really do try and watch what I eat and I walk every day, yet I still have that heavy middle that just won’t go away.

Maybe I need to up my game?

This ‘N That Thursday

Jan said, “I can remember not long ago when people lost their lives because they wouldn’t leave their pets in a disaster. I’m so glad that people are understanding how important our furry family members are.”

I’m glad too Jan, I would never abandon my dogs, in fact I have a plan to get home to my house via the trails should there ever be a situation where the roads are closed.

And many thanks to Flea, ” If you really are free to a good home, there’s space in our bonus room. We have a nice library. But no TV.”

Do you have Wifi? I have an iPad so as long as I have Wifi I don’t need TV.

free

Donna said “I do look forward to seeing what hi-jinks your dogs have planned for the Human-Shaming Blog Hop. Especially Delilah. She’s a crafty one.”

Yes, yes she is.  She’s also sarcastic and can be a bit snarky.  I hope I can keep her under control. 😀

That’s a wrap for me, many thanks to 2 Brown Dawgs for co-hosting the hop!

Follow-Up Friday – September 13, 2013

September 13, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-Up Friday, the blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Joining me this week is the amazing Flea, who graciously agreed to co-host again.  And she called me crazy.

Abstract Art

So my dog is not the only one that chases the bowl all over the house!  LOL  Many of you commented about the non-skid bowls.  If you look again at the two bowls, you will see that one has a rubber bottom while the other does not.

photo-9

The top one originally had rubber, but it fell off.  That is Delilah’s dish and she eats out of it upside down because she inhales faster than James Franco in Pineapple Express.  I’ve yet to find a dish that slows the eater down, but doesn’t slide around.

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Pam said, “Not much football going on in this house. Hubs is not a sports fan… at all. Not a single sport. If anyone watches football, it’s me… but even I don’t watch much anymore.”

That’s pretty much the same in our house.  My hubby doesn’t watch a lot of sports either (at least not religiously like my son-in-laws do) but he will watch a bit of football.  It is generally me, looking for some type of sport on television.  I tend to favor NASCAR, baseball and football, although I’m slightly pissed off at NASCAR at the mo.

My guys go in spurts with which toys they play with, lately the football has found favor, I have no idea why.

What’s ‘taters’ precious?

Sugar said, “May we suggest something … since you are giving it to Sam w/ his pills … use Greek yogurt instead.”

Thanks Sugar, at the time I didn’t have any Greek yogurt, all I had was sour cream.  I did make the next batch with the Greek yogurt though and they still loved it.

Emma said, “I’m easy, I eat any pill in anything, Katie is a whole different story. She can suck all the stuff off and spit out the pill in about a second.”

Yup Emma, Sampson is the same way in the morning, which is why I have to hide them.

Genevieve said, “It also sounds like you may need to go food shopping.”

You made me laugh.  Yes, I probably do need to go food shopping!

Maggie said, “Emmett and Cooper will eat a pill in anything. Heck, Emmett will eat a pill if you toss it and tell him “catch.” Lucas, on the other hand, is a pill ninja. I’ve caught him carrying one off to spit out elsewhere, thinking he was fooling me.”

Well now I’ve seen Sampson spit stuff out, but never has he carried it somewhere to do so!

2 Brown Dawgs said, “If I made the potato/sour cream mixture, I surely wouldn’t feed it to the dog because it looks yummy. Heck maybe I should make some to take my pills.”

I bet it’d be good.  But what I’d do is make those little tater balls and fry ’em.  Yummo!!

Flea said, “Those potatoes sound GOOD. I’d pop a garlic clove or two into the water when boiling. Maybe a sprig of rosemary. Mmmm. And have you tried Pioneer Woman’s Crash Hot Potatoes? They are our RUIN. OM NOM NOM.”

As a matter of fact, we had them last night. 🙂  YUM!

Oh and by the way, I added that link for you, do you think Flea would have done that?  Heck no, she just tempted me with the recipe and left me to find it on my own.  Sheesh.

So I’ve Got This Paypal Button on my Blog

And it’s working!!  I am getting e-mails and hopefully you are getting e-mails from me confirming your order!

Margie said, “Yes..!! I do see the button, but no PayPal logo.”

Yup, I should have checked before I wrote that!   LOL it is a “Buy Now” button that links you up to PayPal but it doesn’t say “PayPal.”

The Fox and the Hounds

Um, can you imagine if all our inner bitches got together?  Woo Dog, that would be something!!

And I agree, the tail on that fox is thin, maybe I should talk to my neighbor about giving him some kind of supplement. 😉

That’s it for me, many thanks to Flea for co-hosting with me.  Make sure you stop over and say hello.  Have a great weekend!

Once Upon a Time

September 5, 2013 By Jodi

Today we are joining our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs blog for is This ‘N That Thursday.  Because some days you have a little of this or a little of that.  It’s anything goes day!

Many thanks to our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs blog.

Once upon  a time, in a land faraway (Florida) there lived a beautiful Princess (well actually she wasn’t really a “princess” she was a German Shepherd dog, but she was named Princess) who lived with her loving owner.

One day her vet (a doctor for dogs) found a lump on Princess’ mammary gland.  He aspirated it (drew some fluid) but couldn’t tell for sure if it was cancerous.

The good and wise vet said, “This tumor has to go.”

This decree put Princess’ poor owner (Denise) into despair.  The surgery was going to cost a lot of money that she did not have, but how could she not help her sweet and beautiful Princess?

Princess 2

Princess

Luckily for Princess and Denise, there are some good and kind people at a the Magic Bullet Fund who agreed to pay a portion of Princess’ surgery, but Denise has to raise the rest.  As of this writing she is only $419 short of the $1,600.00 needed!!  The link to donate is here, Princess’ story is the third one on the page.

The rest of the story.

Denise is actually the cousin to one of Blogville’s own, Donna from Donna and the Dogs.  Donna has been working on putting a GSD calendar together to help Denise raise the remaining funds, unless we can raise the funds first.  The good thing is the fund is set up so you can donate any amount!  Why the other night when I was struggling to figure it out (come on, you know how challenged I can be) Donna went in to check and donated another $1, just to check and see if it was working.

So can you spare $1?  Maybe you can forgo your Starbucks coffee today and donate $3.  (How much does a Starbucks coffee cost anyway? I’m cheap, I make my own.)

If you don’t have cash to spare, it’s okay, you can still help.  All you need to do is to share Princess’ story on your social media sites.

What do you say?  Are you up for a challenge?

Oh and just because I can, here’s another cute photo of Princess.

Whadda ya waitin' for? Start sharing!
