Football season officially kicked off Thursday night (clever use of words, no?)
True confession. I choose the team I root for by their quarterback. I was a Forty-Niners fan until Joe Montana went to the Chiefs, then I was a Chiefs fan. After Joe retired I floundered a year or so before choosing Brett Favre as my next quarterback and thus the Packers as the next team I rooted for.
But after that whole I’m retired, now I’m not, I’m retired, now I’m playing for the Jets thing, not to mention his Anthony Wiener type scandal with a female reporter, I admit, my interest in football hasn’t been the same.
I still have no team that I root for, therefore I watch very little football.
A certain Golden Lab opted to change that yesterday.
I love the way his ears perk up when I talk to him. How do you your dogs work to engage you? Are they as enthusiastic as Sam-Man?

We love to watch our sports teams, but unfortunately, they all stink and the Vikings were no exception yesterday. Luckily we are either total idiots or eternal optimists here in MN as we will all be watching and hoping again next week.
Molly The Wally says
We don’t do football but we sure can chase after a tennis ball. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly

Moey wags his tail. He ‘sleep wags’ as well! LOL! It is the cutest thing! My groomer didn’t believe me until we captured it one day on video and sent it to her! It makes me smile every time!
Callie, Shadow, and Ducky's Mom says
Definitely not! But Callie, Shadow and I enjoy a good game of “Chuck it” in the back yard while Ducky’s at daycare, or in Sam’s lap on a Sunday afternoon. Personally, I’ve never been a fan of football, at least not pro football (and especially not the Eagles or any other team willing to employ Michael Vick!). I will, however, root for the Clemson Tigers.

Haha. Moses and Alma are both famous for being as stagnant as possible, so if you talk to them, you may get an ear perk and an eye-brow lift, but they won’t even turn their heads if they don’t have to. Unless you’re particularly exciting, then Moses will wag his tail (while remaining otherwise still) and Alma will jump right up and come sit in front of you expectantly.
Not much football here – NFL anyway. The hubby always gets CFL season tickets for our city’s team (Go Stamps!), but even then, my enthusiasm wanes. I’m Canadian, so the hockey stereotype is more accurate in my case.
Julie says
We are fans of the very handsome Tom Brady (my hubby is a fan of all New England/Boston teams!). I should cheer for the Chargers (my home team) but I can’t stand what a big whiner Phil Rivers is. Cali loved football – but not hockey – the hubby gets too intense and she never liked the yelling 😉
Have a great week!!

In this household it’s all about baseball…which is still going on and seems to never end, because when the World Series is over, they start talking about spring training already! But Kelly and Ike are always up for playing football, if someone will oblige them in throwing it.
Kirsten says
I’m not a huge football fan; just having a working TV is a bit of a novelty and I usually watch during daytime grooming sessions. The dogs, however, love TV, even football! We are going to try to watch more just for them 🙂

There is something great about going through many sucky years with the same team and then see them coming back. And that is why I have been a 49er fan forever and always will be.
Frankie and Ernie says
WE are Baseball Fans here on our hill. GO TRIBE!!!
Jen@MyBrownNewfies says
haha! Football is pretty big in our house. Sherman and Leroy are only allowed to play with football toys at this time of the year 🙂
Maggie says
My boys wear their Colts jerseys all season long! And, btw, Cooper is now running all over the house trying to figure out where the heck that awesome squeaky toy is hiding!! 🙂
Dawn says
Now that’s my kind of football! I almost didn’t read your post today since it had the word football in it. Glad I did. 🙂
Genevieve says
Mom and I don’t understand sports at all. When I want to play with her (or want to go out, or want to eat), I stare at her with what she calls the dead-eye. the dead-eye stare speaks volumes.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Carol Bondy says
Not a football fan…but my two love any balls thrown to them…football included!!!!
Pam | Words With Wieners says
Not much football going on in this house. Hubs is not a sports fan… at all. Not a single sport. If anyone watches football, it’s me… but even I don’t watch much anymore.
But that football squeakie toy? That would immediately be the most popular thing in the house… I mean, for the few minutes it would last :).
I’m not sure which I loved more… him perking his ears or you cheering for him. So cute!
Kim - Life at Golden Pines says
I think Sampson and Delilah are doing better than the Redskins tonight! 🙂
Sand Spring Chesapeakes says
That was a great introduction and great video! Have a great night.

Yea! Mom screamed at her NY Giants

LOL I like the way that he took the non obvious route!
SUGAR: Golden Woofs says
Golden LAUGHS! I am a retriever and loves to play ‘ball” fetch. Not sure if you saw me play basketball. We are working on a segment on football. Mom loves the 49ers and of course our home town team DA BEARS. It’s odd to watch football on a TH. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Donna says
That’s great Jodi! I love to toss the toys down the hall too, but I have to make sure I coral the other sporting dog before I do or it becomes a free-for-all. (Leah could care less). By the way, Meadow thinks that football is awesome, she came running out here to the kitchen where I’m at from her comfy bed just to see what the squeaking was! 🙂
