Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-Up Friday, the post where I highlight reader’s comments, answer questions and generally just wrap up my week.
You Make Me Smile – June 14, 2015
Sue said, “Delilah would probably love vole hunting with Rudy and Rosie. Maybe she could come for a little vole vacay?”
She probably would love it, but do you really need another dog? LOL or can I come with her?
Taryn said, “We have a dumb bunny that nests under our deck. My boys can often be found with their heads wedged under the steps trying to get a good whiff. Our deck is low to the ground so even for a corgi, there’s not much room under there. When the dumb bunny had her babies, Jimmy did manage to do a military crawl to check it out. Unfortunately those babies never made it out of the yard. 🙁
Oh dear, poor dumb bunny. I hope you didn’t find the…er…results of Jimmy’s…excursion. 🙁
Sand Spring Chesapeakes said, “Your such a good sniffer outter. Gambler can sniff out chippies also, he sticks his nose in the hole blows snorts and then digs the bastard out. MK got a baby chippy this am. She was pretty proud.”
Oh G-Man, what does he do once he unearths them? And way to go MK!
JanK said, “These guys always stick their noses in any holes they see when we’re out walking, and I’m forever telling them they should be careful about that. I worry about what might be in the holes!”
I worry about that too! What if something bites them? I probably wouldn’t even know what it was.
Pamela asked, “BTW, what does Delilah do with the critters when she flushes them out? Is she a chaser? Does she have a killer instinct? And what is Sampson doing while all this is going on?”
Well, she’s never actually flushed one out. She does know where their holes are, but they have so many trails and she is so LOUD when she goes after then, they escape quite easily. Sampson will follow if she alerts him, but she is the one obsessed with chippies.
Monika said, “Oh my lord, does he ever! If a fox, raccoon or cat has been within 10 ft. of him, Sam’s nose is down checking it out and he trys to sniff all the odor left behind. It usually comes when we’re moving at a nice clip and all of a sudden my shoulder gets yanked out of its socket because Doofas has suddenly stopped to investigate a spot. ”
LOL oh yes, the shoulder yank, I know it well. 🙂 It’s so abrupt and shocking, isn’t it?
Jen Gabbard said, “One of my favorite stories is from someone elses dog: They were walking their dog in the neighborhood and as they passed a storage drain they hears some “mews.” There was a little kitty stuck in there and with the help of some neighbors they got him out. Ever since that day her dog stops to look in all storm drains – it’s been years.”
THAT is so sweet.
I know a woman whose dog crawled/wiggled his way under her shed hunting for (it was a mole or gopher). She videotaped it and it took her dog about an hour or so, but he got under there and got that critter. (I watched the video.) 🙂
Engaging Your Reader (Redux) Barks and Bytes
Jenna, Mark “HuskyCrazed” Drady said, “And btw, it’s funny….I have followed your blog pretty much since I started my own – I also swear a lot….but I just cannot find it in me to put it on a blog post. The weird part is, is that when I read it here at your blog, I love it!!!!”
For the longest time I didn’t. I might call someone (not a reader of course) an ass, or say shit, but I wouldn’t use the “F” word, instead I’d say, “Eff” or “WTF.” Then one day I just decided I needed to be me.
It got much easier after that. 😉 In fact, most days I have to rein it in to keep this blog from becoming, “Life with Fucking Dogs.” LOL
JanK said, “I think I have a pretty good sense of humor and I try to use it in my posts some. But a lot of times I think no one gets it! If someone actually comments “that was so funny”, I’m thinking “yes, someone finally got my sense of humor!”. ”
Yes, I get that. Sometimes I’m laughing so hard typing it up, and the comments are so serious and I think, I guess it wasn’t all that funny. BUT then someone says, OMG that was so funny. It’s really tough sometimes conveying humor.
That’s it for me folks, have a great weekend!
