Today we’re joining our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs for This ‘N That Thursday.
Many thanks to 2 Brown Dawgs.
As 2 Brown Dawgs says, “This ‘N That Thursday is for those times when you want to post about unrelated topics or each topic isn’t quite long enough to make up a whole post. It can be anything you want, so feel free to grab the button and join us!”
LaCrosse
When I started to see the signs to join LaCrosse, I knew the time was coming when we’d once again be sharing our field. When at all possible I go home at lunch and walk the dogs, just to avoid the hassle. But there are some days when I just can’t.
Monday was such a day so Hubby said he’d go with me. Much easier with one dog per handler.
Normally I avoid the field during LaCrosse like it was the plague, but since Hubby was with me, we took a hard trail which would take us through the field on our way out of the park.
Just as we approached the field I saw a dark flash fly across the rocks, I thought to myself is that a dog?
Sure enough about a minute later a black dog that looked like a Labradoodle came tearing down the trail, followed by her owner.
As soon as I saw the dog charging at us, I dropped Delilah’s leash. Sophie tore past Delilah and me and charged at Hubby and Sampson.
“I’m so sorry” panted her owner, trying desperately to grab her dog, “she was just running with the boys.” The good news is she was friendly and just full of energy wanting to burn it off, the bad news was that she kept avoiding her owner’s grasp.
She was running back and forth between us, then would zip out and run around us in a circle, always coming back to Delilah.
Guess what happened?
Delilah and Sophie started playing!
Woot woot!!
Perseverance pays off….Just be the dog.
Nosework
Our nosework classes have become progressively harder. Tuesday night for our last run, Ariane made it super hard. It took Delilah some time but she’s methodical and eventually she found her treat.
This is This ‘N That Thursday Blog hop hosted by our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs blog, go ahead. Hop along.

That is great news. Nothing nicer than seeing dogs play and enjoying it. Sometimes we have scary dogs here and you just need to get away. Always tricky. Glad your meet and greet went well. Have a terrific Thursday.
Best wishes Molly

I love that video! Delilah is so smart and skilled. I could HEAR her nose working! In a situation like Cupcake would sit down with the sad face and wait for me to help her.
Gracie says
I’m glad it worked out and Delilah got a new friend.

Left a comment in YouTube — WTG, Delilah!!
And speaking of Delilah, glad she and Sophie had fun on the trail!! It was probably Sophie’s way of telling her mom that she’s bored and/or needs more exercise. If only I could figure out Ducky as well as I do other people’s dogs! 🙂

Yay for dogs playing! I’m glad Delilah didn’t react badly to Sophie. And congrats on her nosework. It looks like she’s coming along great.

Nice work Delilah!! It is so fun to watch her work – and that sweet face at the beginning of the video melts my heart 🙂 Glad the meet and greet with the other dog went well . .Cali never likes it when a dog comes flying at her!!

Mom understands that poor woman all too well. She is always telling me about how my sister Katie would take off on her and not let herself get caught. One time she even ran out into a kids soccer game and was after the ball, they had to stop the whole game and mom still couldn’t catch Katie…now she is older and a bit more sensible but mom knows that it just happens and there is nothing you can do. Katie just wanted to play as well, so there was no physical harm ever done.

Dogs really need harder and harder challenges to keep their little brains alert. Nice nosing.

I have thought about trying nosework with Gretel. I don’t think it would be much sport though. I have a few of those treat puzzle toys and after the first time (which only took her about 8 minutes) it only takes her about 4 minutes to clean them out. She has so much food motivation and such a keen nose for food that she would always find the food immediately. I still think it would be worth a try to see sometime though.

Great news! It seems to be the other way here, typist took her dog for a walk with her parents dog on monday and they both ignored each other and played in the snow (with a big age and size difference we don’t really want them playing together) so all happy!
However ever since her dog has started to bark at any dog he walks past? She knows he is more reactive on the lead but he was initially on the lead with her dog???!!
