Chocolate Cheese Head

June 17, 2018 By Jodi

I raised three girls, so I’m use to cooking in larger amounts. After the girls left home, I couldn’t quite figure out how to reduce my cooking to just two, so I continue to cook for five and we use the leftovers for lunches during the week.

For health reasons, I’m encouraged to eat smaller portions, about six times per day. I practice this religiously during the week, but sadly, I can’t quite master it on the weekends.

Because of the way I eat, I bring a lot of food with me when I head to work. Of late, my afternoon snack has been an apple, and a little package of mozzarella cheese. These are the cutest little things, just three in each package and I buy them in bulk at my local consumer’s shopping club.

Mondays when I’m packing for work, I add my lunch and my apple, as well as all of my hard-boiled eggs, and my cheese snacks. Apples and lunch are taken daily, but it’s just easier for me to pack my breakfast eggs and cheeses in the beginning of the week.

Last Monday, I set my back down in front of the refrigerator and started ‘loading’ it up. Delilah was standing right there watching me. I added my apple, my lunch, my bag of eggs and then I started on the cheese.

One, two, three….

I happened to catch her in the act.

Luckily for me, she was happy to exchange her prize, for one of her beloved banana chips.

But boy, did I get a laugh out of that. As did Hubby when I showed him the photo.

You make me laugh (or smile,) the sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do, that bring a smile to my face, or a laugh to my lips.

What did your pet do that made you laugh or smile this week?

It’s All Fun and Games Until the Dog Barks at 1:30 AM

June 3, 2018 By Jodi

I’ve been living with a cold for the last week and a half. You know when you’re sick, you always have a day where you say, “This is the worst I’ve felt,” and usually after that day, you turn the corner and start feeling better?

I had three days in a row, where I thought that was the worst day.

Actually, the nights were worst. I’d fall asleep reading and as soon as I woke up, shut off the light, and lay down…I’d start coughing.

An uncontrollable, dry, tickling cough.

The first night it happened, I woke up at 1:30 in the morning, trying to cough up a lung. The second I started coughing, Delilah barked at me.

She barked. At me.

She was in her dog bed, on the floor, so I told her, “It’s okay, it’s only me coughing.” Wheezed out between coughs.

I coughed again.

She growled, got up, turned around in her bed, and lay back down.

I coughed.

She barked again.

I told her again, that it was just me.

This went on for about two minutes. Me coughing, her barking at me.

Like it was dueling banjos or something.

Finally, I got up and grabbed a cough drop, propped myself up with a pillow and tried to go back to sleep.

Delilah got up and thought, hey, I think I’ll climb on the bed with Mom and Sampson.

I put my hand up. “Go lie down, you aren’t climbing up next to me so you can bark at me every time I cough.”

I’m just sleeping peacefully and mom decides it’s duet time. She starts barking, what’s a girl supposed to do?

I can laugh about this now, I can assure you, I wasn’t laughing about it at 1:30 Tuesday morning.

You make me laugh (or smile,) the sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do that bring a smile to my face, or a laugh to my lips.

What did your pet do that made you laugh or smile this week?

Let Sleeping Dogs

May 27, 2018 By Jodi

Do you struggle cleaning your house around your dogs? My dogs have a tendency to lay RIGHT where I’m working.  Or worse, Delilah follows me everywhere, and always manages to stand right where the vacuum is going next.

Sigh.

Last week I was running the vacuum, and I couldn’t move where I wanted to. I looked over to see this.

I told Sampson, “You can’t lie on the cord,” and I moved it. I vacuumed some more and looked over to see this.

Like he was saying, you told me not to lie on it, and technically, I’m not lying on it.

It just made me laugh, he’s such a character.

You make me laugh, (or smile.) The sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do that make me laugh or smile.

What did your pet do to make YOU laugh or smile this week?
