The Diss

April 9, 2017 By Jodi

I’ve heard it said that dog’s can’t be jealous, but my experience tells me that is just not true.

Case in point, my dogs. When one or the other of them are getting attention from one or the other of us, the dog that is not getting the attention, can get a bit pushy.

The other day Hubby came home and as is custom, he greets the dogs. This time he greeted Sampson first, and Delilah’s nose was a bit out of joint. (She typically climbs right up in his lap as soon as he sits down.)

I made room for her on my lap (honestly, she thinks she’s a lap dog, which wouldn’t be so bad, if she would just sit still. But she wiggles, and shifts and sometimes she practically squishes me!) where she proceeded to lay against me, and seemed quite content.

Until Hubby got up off the floor and sat on the couch, at which point she immediately jumped down, and climbed up on his lap!

I definitely felt dissed. But Hubby and I still laughed about it.

I mean, a Diva knows what she wants.

What did your dogs do this week that made you laugh?

Don’t Sit on the Arm of the Couch

March 26, 2017 By Jodi

When I was a kid, I remember my mother telling us not to sit on the arms of the couch or chairs. I think the reasoning (if I remember correctly), was we could break it. I think I told my kids the same thing, but my reasoning might have been they could lose their balance and fall.

A couple of summers ago, I ran into a good deal on dog beds at my local warehouse club. These beds have the pillowed bolsters on two sides. It reminds me of a deep sofa, with a back and one side. One of these beds in is my bedroom, and one is in the living room next to my side of the sofa.

I’m also super lazy, so I tend to stuff things on the side of the couch. Things like my computer, shoes, etc. Of course, this area tends to be Delilah’s favorite spot to stare me down when it’s either dinner or snack time.

She usually starts, shortly before it’s time. She crams herself into the spot, and starts staring at me. She shifts her weight, she huffs and puffs and if it takes too long, she harumphs me. Most times, I can just ignore her, but if I’m trying to get something finished, it can really irritate me.

The other night, I looked over and she had positioned herself just so. And I burst out laughing.

Well here, a picture will explain it better.

Yeah, she was basically sitting on the ‘arm’ of her bed. I couldn’t help but laugh. Of course, as soon as the camera came out, she turned her head.

What did your dog do that made you laugh this week?

Do You Wanna Climb a Snowbank?

March 19, 2017 By Jodi

I saw a post on Facebook, it said, “Go home Mother Nature, you’re drunk.” It made me laugh. At least until Mother Nature, that drunk ole’ whore, changed her mind again and dumped a foot of snow on us this past Tuesday.

Do you have any idea where you put a foot of snow? To say potty-ing space is at a premium right now, isn’t an exaggeration.

Yes, we can clear areas for the dogs in the yard, but they’ve gotten used to doing their business on our walks. And my neighbors, for some odd reason, aren’t clearing spots for dogs to potty.

The first couple of walks are okay, because people haven’t cleared their driveways, and there’s snow at the ends, but after a couple of days or so, the pavement is bare and the poor dogs are desperately seeking a flat space to go.

The other day Sampson squeezed himself into a 3′ x 3′ space that had been cleared around a mailbox. You gotta feel bad for an 87 pound dog, so desperate for grass that he’d wrap himself around a pole just to poop.

A few weeks back, Delilah stood on her hind legs, took a step up the snowbank and peed on it.

2 steps up, then I’m safe to pee.

Friday, I moved her across the street to avoid a pedestrian coming up behind me. She caught me off guard when she just kept going, and went up on the snowbank. She went as far as she could, then she pooped. I literally had to sit ON the snowbank to be able to reach it for clean up.

As more and more of the snow melts from the pavement, the dogs are becoming adventurous. Even Sampson had to throw his hat in the ring.

It’s just a little snow.

Yup, it’s been a laugh a minute this week. What did your dogs do this week to make you laugh or smile?

Also….Happy Birthday ‘T”, hope you have an amazing day!
