Crab Apples Make Me Laugh

October 1, 2017 By Jodi

You’ve all heard the stories of what Labradors eat…just from Delilah I can say, baker’s chocolate, butter, color pencils, play dough, dryer sheets, well, the list goes on and on.

There’s a house at the end of the street, and it has a little tree in the from yard. In the fall, this little tree drops little apples.  I’ve always thought the apples were crab apples, mostly because of this gal.

.

Naturally these apples are particularly appealing to a Labrador. I mean, if you’re willing to eat colored pencils, you can only imagine what an apple smells like.

We do work on the leave-it command on our walk, but at 6:00 am I’m not always paying attention, and Delilah knows it.

It’s the funniest thing really. She picks up the apple and tries to bite it. I’m assuming it tastes terrible, because she shakes her head, and curls her lip. She looks like she’s doing the Labrador’s impression of Elvis. LOL

Sometimes she drops it on her own, sometimes I have to convince her, but it doesn’t stop her from the next time.

And she doesn’t limit her munching to apples. Nope, I have to keep my eyes sharp, because she’ll eat anything that smells like food.

I usually laugh at her silly antics, especially because she keeps trying despite the fact every apple she’s ever attempted to eat off that tree, hasn’t tasted well.

I Make Me Laugh – September 24, 2017

September 24, 2017 By Jodi

I’m↓ always sharing photos and stories of things my dogs do that make me laugh or smile. Truth be told, sometimes I do something with my dogs that also makes me laugh or smile.

Like yesterday, after I’d spent the whole day working and wanted to give the dogs their walks before dinner.  After giving Sampson his walk, I got Delilah ready and out the door we went.

About half-way through our walk, I looked down at Delilah and realized something.

Look closely.

I’m looking, but I don’t see anything.

Can you figure out what it is?

If you guessed that I put Sampson’s harness on Delilah, give yourself a pat on the back!

I did laugh, but I was ever so grateful that nothing happened that got her riled up, so that she slipped the harness.

A time or two, I’ve tried to put Delilah’s harness on Sampson, but since he weighs about 15 to 20  pounds more than she does, hers does not fit him.

I guess you could technically say that his doesn’t fit her either…but we made it work.

Have you ever used the wrong equipment on your pet?

You Make Me Laugh – July 16, 2017

July 16, 2017 By Jodi

It’s no secret, the dogs I live with make me laugh. I’m not sure if it’s because they’re labradors, or it’s just their personalities. These goofy dogs make me laugh, every single day. Problem is, sometimes I just can’t capture the humor in a photo.  So I have to improvise.

The last couple of weeks, we’ve had some super hot, humid weather. I’m not a fan of summer, so hot, humid weather means one thing.

Air conditioning.

We don’t have central air, instead we have a wall unit in the living room, and a window unit in my bedroom.

In the morning, I shut the bedroom doors, and put the window unit on. Around 7:00 pm, I shut the living room air off, and turn on the air in the bedroom, and close the door.

One night last week, I was in the bathroom, and Hubby took the dogs out for the last potty of the night. As I finished up my toiletry, I heard a thump at the bedroom door, which is right outside of the bathroom.

When I looked, there was Sampson, waiting outside the bedroom door. I opened the door, and went inside to turn on the lamp, and when I turned around, there was Sampson, laying on the floor outside the bedroom, but instead of being completely outside, he had the tip of his nose, and his front paws just over the threshold.

Not in the room far enough for me to shut the door, but not completely in the hall either.

Are you going to believe her, or me? Someone this cute can’t possibly do the things she suggests.

When I went back out to the living room, I told Hubby what Sampson had done and Hubby and I laughed and laughed.

Sometimes, he’s such a little dick, but that’s one of the things we love about him.
