How Do You Define Your Brand?

August 29, 2013 By Jodi

Today we’re joining our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs blog for This ‘N That Thursday.  You know some days you have a little of this, or a little of that?  Anything goes!  Many thanks to our friends at 2  Brown Dawgs Blog for this awesome blog hop.

Back to our old stomping grounds:

Tuesday Sampson had an appointment at the vet’s for one of his cold laser treatments.  Since it was a six o’clock appointment I asked Hubby to walk Delilah and after the appointment Sampson and I ventured over to our old stomping grounds at the local community college.

The college has a really lovely biking/walking path, in fact before we moved to our current house, Sampson and I used to walk there just about every day.

WALK

Most of the pictures turned out blurry because let’s face it; it’s damn hard to take a picture when you’re being tugged down a path by an 87 pound dog.

HOT

I should have thought to bring some water because poor Butter was hot.  Don’t worry, I blasted the air once we got in the car.

I love walking with both my dogs, but it was nice to have just some Sampson and me time in a place that has some wonderful memories.

Branding:

Do you know what your brand is?  I sure the hell don’t.

Julie explains it like this, “Branding is the story, image and personality of your blog, your blog’s soul. It’s what people think about when your blog comes to mind.”

Try as I might I can’t figure out just what this blog does consistently.  When I think what I want this blog to represent I want it to be a place people come to for support, comfort, humor, encouragement. How do you ‘brand’ that?

It’s left me pretty down in the dumps trying to figure this out.  I mean, I can look at someone else’s blog and make suggestions to them, I just can’t do it with my own.   I thought maybe you could help me.

So tell me my friends.  What do you think about when you hear “Heart Like a Dog?”  Do you have any insights for me?

Follow-Up Friday

I woke up at about 4 this morning and realized with a start, that I had no one scheduled to co-host with me this week.  Thankfully, I’m blessed to count some incredible bloggers as my friends and I’m super pleased to let you know that once again the Amazing Flea will be co-hosting Follow-Up Friday tomorrow.

Tune in folks, same bat time, same bat channel.

This ‘N That Thursday – August 22, 2013

This ‘N That Thursday is the brainchild of Linda from 2 Brown Dawgs; because some days you have a little of this or a lot of that.

Many thanks to our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs Blog.

Lick Granuloma Redux

Sampson had to go back to the Vet’s on Tuesday, he’s been licking at his paw again. 🙁

I wrapped it in a desperate attempt to keep him from licking.

I wrapped it in a desperate attempt to keep him from licking.

This time we saw our regular Vet who scraped the spot and checked it under the microscope.

The diagnosis is a lick Granuloma which is now infected because he’s licked it so much.  The treatment is a three week course of antibiotics (Clindamycin), a three week course of twice a week cold laser treatment and a nerve blocker (Gabapentin).

This cold laser isn't so bad, this guy keeps feeding me noms.

I couldn’t understand WHY he’s licking it and Dr. Soutter explained it could have been anything that initially drew him to the spot, and once he’s irritated the nerve, it will keep bothering him and he will keep licking. The hope is the antibiotic and cold laser will help the granuloma heal, while the nerve blocker will settle the nerves down.  The goal is to take him off the nerve blocker and the licking will stop.

Paws crossed.

Blogville Calendar

Julie is hard at work resizing the photos for easier display on the blog.  Fingers crossed voting will still begin on Saturday.  If for some reason I can’t manage it, then we will still have a week to vote.

My mom who recently began reading the blog keeps asking me if I’ll show her how to vote. 😀  I’m pretty sure the voting process will be fairly easy, as long as I use the same system I used last year.  But yes Mom, I’ll make sure you know how to vote.

Farting and Douching on Facebook

You know Facebook is a great time suck for me.  Last night feeling highly unmotivated I found myself in an innocent little chat with a couple of other bloggers.  One thing led to another and before you know it, we were talking about farting and shortly after that douching.  This morning the conversation has turned to Unicorns.

You never know what you’ll find on Facebook.  It really helped lighten my mood and I gave me something to add to today’s post.  So thank you ladies, one and all.

Follow-Up Friday

Please join us tomorrow for the Follow-Up Friday blog hop where my co-hostess will be JoAnn Stancer from Sand Spring Chesapeakes.

This ‘N That Thursday

August 15, 2013 By Jodi

Let’s get to it, shall we?

Out Foxed Again

Yesterday morning I went outside to empty the dehumidifier.  Sampson loves this part of the morning.  He goes outside with me and sniffs around checking to see what types of visitors we’ve had during the night.  He is very thorough in his investigations, giving special attention to areas of the lawn where  he’s certain something has trodden.

It was a quiet, cool morning and we stood in the driveway just enjoying the break from the heat and humidity.(Sometimes he just stands in the driveway surveying the neighborhood, like a King surveying his Kingdom. )

I was facing the street and Sampson was facing the lawn when I saw him cock his head.  I knew he’d seen something so as I turned my head to look I said, “Leave it.”

Thank Dog he’s got a solid leave it.  That dang fox ran down our front lawn and across the street disappearing somewhere in the neighbor’s yard.

Can you imagine if it had been Delilah?  I’d still be running.

And where was my camera?  In the freaking house!!  Out foxed again.  One of these days little fox, I will get a decent picture of you.

When we want back inside the house, Sampson immediately went to the door leading to the upstairs.  When I didn’t move towards it, he came back and Roo’ed at me to open the door.  Such a smart boy!

Reading and Commenting on Blog Posts

I’m so far behind in reading and commenting.  I’m trying to catch up, I really am.  I guess taking almost two weeks off has a tendency to put one behind.

As of right now I have over 700 posts in my feeder.  I’ve caught up on a few blogs, just know if you see a random comment here and there, it’s because I’m trying to catch up and I just can’t comment on every single post. 🙁

If there’s something important I need to know, please share it with me in the comments or drop me a private message via facebook or e-mail.

The Dogs of Blogville Calendar Contest

Don’t forget to get  your pictures in for this Calendar Contest.  In years to come you’ll be able to say, “My dog was March 2014.”  Yes. You. Will.

So far we have five entries.

What Will Delilah do for a piece of fruit?

I will sit pretty for a piece of frozen pineapple. Yes I will.

For those of you who missed it, here is the promised video with my wild and highly food motivated lab.

Follow-Up Friday

Guess what?  I coerced a newbie to co-host tomorrow’s hop.  I hope you’re as excited as I am!  I will be joined tomorrow by none other than Flea from Jones Natural Chews!
