WTF/Whoo Hoo Wednesday (10-3-12)

October 3, 2012 By Jodi

Please note this post is not meant to make light of the deeds described here, only to make fun of, ridicule, bully and just plain beat the shit out of the idiots who commit these stupid acts.

As you know, or maybe you don’t, my laptop is in the shop, which means I rely on Hubby’s computer for blogging, which has severely hindered me in 1) responding to comments and commenting  on your blogs and 2) getting some WTF material via facebook.

Siriusly, Hubby does not allow me on facebook on his computer.

Ever.

I did manage to sneak a bit at various times, which is when Lauren from Life With Desmond sent me this.

W.T.F

Suffolk County SPCA Warns Against Animal Cruelty, NY

Apparently there was something posted on youtube encouraging people to kill a pit bull on Halloween.

W.T.F. or maybe more aptly phrased, who the fuck thinks this stuff up or even better yet, thinks it’s a good idea?

I can almost picture the two of us (Lauren and myself) sitting in front of our computers, mouths open in shock and horror.

After a quick couple of exchanges Lauren says she checked it on Snopes and Snopes says it is not true, but that doesn’t make me feel any better because you know some dumb red-neck is going to attempt this.

Which is exactly why you didn’t see me jumping all ugly on this on my facebook page, I don’t want to give anyone any ideas.

This photo just about sums it up for me.

Excuse me a moment, my Irish Coffee needs attending to.

WTF/Whoo Hoo!!

Dog survives wild ride, Taunton Ma/Providence RI

Yeah, apparently this person saw the dog run out in front of them but then they didn’t see the dog.

That’s because it was jammed under your grill, dumb ass.

Did you think it was a ghost dog?

WTF kind of person doesn’t stop to check and see what happened to the dog? What if it was just severely injured and lying on the side of the road?

My first dog, Washy was hit by a car when I was a kid, despite having a broken pelvis, she managed to drag herself home.  To this day I don’t know if my father put her down or she died from her injuries.

I do know the asshole that hit her didn’t stop.

There’s something fundamentally wrong with a person who doesn’t stop to find out whether they’ve caused bodily injury, whether it be to human or animal.

Still I find it amazing the dog survived with only minor injuries.

Whoo Hoo

This dog survived 110 miles on the top of a car engine, San Clemente, CA

When the driver stopped for lunch after a 110 mile trip, he felt his truck lurch and then noticed some fur sticking out near his wheel.  When he opened the hood, a 25 pound Keeshond mix looked up at him.

Jamie Magaña attributes the large well between the engine and the front with saving Chevy (the nickname given to the dog.)

Authorities are currently looking for Chevy’s owner.

And finally, because I can.

How was your week?  Did you have more of a Whoo Hoo or a WTF week?

Sampson’s Saga Continues

October 2, 2012 By Jodi

Sampson has a bruise on the inside of one of his back legs. I noticed it right after the last time he was at the vet, but figured since he is scheduled for next week, I will simply keep an eye on it, to make sure it’s fading.

Having seen him bulldoze his way through trees and shrubs, I assumed he whacked himself good.

When I popped a peek at it Sunday night, I noticed he had a number of red bumps on his underbelly. Hubby said, they look like blisters.

To which I said, I’ll check the side effects of the Meloxicam tomorrow and call the vet to see if it can wait until next week.

Sure enough one of the severe side effects of the Meloxicam is, you guessed it, blisters.

(Just for the record, I worry.  So the safest bet for me is NOT to check side effects when first beginning a medication, if I do you can be sure a symptom will somehow manage to manifest itself.  I’ve had to carry this philosophy over to the dogs or I’d be a constant mess.)

First thing yesterday morning I placed the call to our vet.

When our vet called back she said, blisters are a known side effect in humans but not in dogs. She wants to make sure it’s not a skin condition so we changed his appointment from next Wednesday to this Thursday.

After I took my lunch I decided that Thursday is just too long to wait, so I called the vet’s office back, but they couldn’t fit him in any sooner, unless of course the condition gets worse.

So I asked, well is there anything I can do for him In the meantime to make sure he’s not uncomfortable? Our vet said put aloe on it.

It doesn’t seem to be bothering him, because we haven’t seem him scratching or licking at it.

But it sure looks awful.

Considering the shaming I got for posting poop pictures, I figure it was wise to hide Sampson’s attributes.

You can see the bruised area, it is the dark spot just above all those little blisters.

What do you think about him having symptoms of a side effect but being told it’s not the same for dogs?  Is it merely coincidence?

Just because it hasn’t happened in dogs, does not mean it can’t, right?  I intend to bring that point up on Thursday. 😉

How do you handle it when your vet tells you something but your gut tells you something else?

Whoops Where’s Delilah?

October 1, 2012 By Jodi

I’m very spoiled by the area where I walk the dogs.  I mean minus the spider webs, how can you beat the beauty of the woods?

There’s something about the serenity of the woods that can’t help but bring peace to your soul.  When you add your two favorites pups to the beauty, well it’s like a double rainbow.

There’s one spot with a really large rock.  I’ve never really let the dogs explore the rock before partly because we’ve been so caught up in the beauty of our woods and partly because, well the dogs have never really shown any interest in it.

A few weeks ago I decided it would be a perfect place to take a picture and so I encouraged the dogs to climb to the top of the rock and wait while I framed a shot.

You want us to stay up here mom?

After I snapped this shot, I thought I should step back a bit farther, just so you could get a good idea of how high the rock actually is.    Without turning around I began moving backward.  That’s when my mountain goat Delilah decided I might be heading somewhere more interesting.

She actually ran about two feet down the rock and jumped the rest of the way!  You really can’t tell the height in the photo but if I were to guess, I’d say it’s at least 12 to 15 feet high.

Her daring never ceases to amaze me, as well as keep my heart beating fast!  Are there things your dogs do that make you gasp?
