Thank You

December 1, 2012 By Jodi

Exactly two years ago today, I sat down and started this blog.

The premise was derived from the movie, Julie and Julia, (without the cooking.)  Don’t get me wrong, I love cooking but for me the idea was more about writing.

My goal was to write a blog post every single day for one year to improve my writing and eventually achieve the status of published author.

It’s still my goal today. (Well not so much the writing every day part.)

My first post, was really pretty lame. At the time I started it, I had no idea what I would write on a daily basis, quite truthfully I really wasn’t even sure what a blog was.

In fact, I didn’t have a tag line for at least a couple of months, my header simply said Jodi Stone.  It wasn’t until one of my two readers suggested a tag line that I added, “Life with Sampson and Delilah.”

My first two days didn’t have titles, I just called them day one and day two.

I didn’t know what tags were (maybe I still don’t) in fact I didn’t tag anything until more than two months into my challenge.

I didn’t know how to get readers, what a blog hop was, how a blog hop worked, what the code was or how to get it to work on my blog.

Well I think you’re getting the idea, I basically knew nothing at all about blogging.

Well, as you can tell, I’ve learned a few things. The biggest thing I’ve learned is it’s not just about writing, it’s about the interaction with my readers and the friendships and relationships I’ve made.

I completed my goal that first year, (except for one day when my granddaughter was born and that’s because I just forgot) and then I found myself committing to another full year of blogging.

Well today dear friends and family, today I completed THAT goal.  Two full years of blogging every day.

And I couldn’t have done it without every single one of you. Your friendship and support mean so very much to me, and I just want to say thank you.

Thank you for reading, thank you for commenting and thank you for all the other ways you show me how much you care.

I’ll just sleep through this bit, if you don’t mind.

A few of my favorite pictures. 🙂

Have a great weekend!

Co-Hosted Follow Up Friday

November 30, 2012 By Jodi

I got it together for a co-hosted Follow-Up Friday! Woot! Woot!!

My hostess this week is no stranger to blogville, I sometimes wonder how she does everything.  She posts almost every day, participates in almost every blog hop, comments on everyone’s posts, and still manages to hunt train three dogs.

Her Storm reminds me a lot of my Delilah.

Did you guess my Co-hostess?

It’s none other than the 2 Brown Dawgs Blog!!

Thank you so much for joining me in co-hosting this week and welcome aboard.

You know all about the Co-hosted Follow-Up Friday blog hop right?  Sometimes you write something that requires a follow-up or someone will leave a comment that really resonates with you…Follow-Up Friday Baby!

Feel free to copy the badge and join the party.

(Reminder, if you’re interested in co-hosting a FUF, please let me know in the comments.)

Yup, I got my act together for the co-hosting portion, trouble is I’m a little light on material.

Chillaxin, Happy Birthday, How Much Is That Doggie In The Window – Author’s Note

I had such a nice, relaxing time in New Hampshire.  As you could see from the photos Sampson and Delilah enjoyed themselves too.

I just love visiting my sister and it helps that she lives in such a cute little town.  I’ve often said to Hubby, I’m not sure if I could live there full-time, I’m really use to being on the go.

That being said these last few days have seemed so busy and stressed.

I know the obligations I have that keep me so busy are coming to an end, but right now, I’m really wishing to be back in New Hampshire where the only things I did was spend quality time with loved ones, write a blog post and play with my dogs.

Ah New Hampshire…..I miss you so.

And the Winner Is...- Update

I haven’t had a lot of time to work on this project.  I’ve been really focused on the NaNoWriMo challenge.  Even though I know I will fall short (I’m currently at just over 33,000 words) I’m planning on writing through tomorrow.

My plan is to work on the calendar this weekend, which I’m hoping will still mean the calendars will be here in time for Christmas.  I will of course keep you totally in the know. 😉

The Evolution of a Blog Post – Author’s Note

Whew, was I ever glad to see that I’m not the only one that struggles with posts sometimes. Some days they seem to come easier than others, you know?

A lot of times I have ideas for posts, so I’ll sign in to the blog, start the post and then leave it in draft format, to come back to another day when I am feeling challenged.

The trouble is I rarely if ever come back to it!

Canvas Art – A Review and Giveaway – Author’s Note

I really do love the look of the canvas prints and I’ve been wanting another one for ages, so I’m real glad I had the opportunity to get one.

My contact at Printcopia tells me they only ship to the U.S. but PLEASE DO NOT let that deter you from entering the contest.  If you enter and you live out of the U.S. I will work with you on getting the print.

How was your week?  Any big plans for the weekend?

Canvas Art – A Review and Giveaway

November 29, 2012 By Jodi

As soon as Thanksgiving is over, most people’s thoughts turn to Christmas.  I don’t know about you, but I try to avoid the mall area as much as possible, which means a lot of my shopping is done online.

Do you ever find yourself struggling to find that perfect gift?  Have you ever considered Canvas Prints?

A few years ago, I took one of my favorite photos of Hubby and Sampson and had it made into a canvas print and gave it to Hubby for Christmas.  (I admit it was probably more for me than it was for him, but he did like it and we hung it on our wall.)

I love this photo, I framed it and hung it on my wall.

I’ve wanted to get a Canvas Print of Sampson and Delilah but other things have come up.

Just about a month ago I was contacted by the folks at Princopia.   They offered me a free canvas print in exchange for an honest review.

Let me tell you, the hardest part was choosing the photo.

I finally decided to go with the picture I submitted for the Blogville Calendar contest.  You remember it right?

Sampson and Delilah

All told it probably took me 10 minutes to order, but that was only because I was trying to decide if I wanted to wrap the picture around the sides, or go with a solid color.

This was the only area where I wasn’t completely satisfied, each time I changed colors I had to upload the picture again. But it was so easy to do, that this was simply a minor inconvenience.

I finally decided on black sides and placed my order.

I let my contact at Printcopia know I had placed my order and she responded by telling me that she had checked on my photo, it looked great and was expected to be delivered today.

So imagine my surprise when it arrived much sooner than expected!

First I was impressed with the packaging.

Fragile Handle With Care

My mail carrier was instructed to handle my package with care.

The photo inside, was safely surrounded by newspaper.

AND IT LOOKS AWESOME!!

It’s actually hanging on a column in my dining area.

Doesn’t it look great?

Printcopia has some sister sites as well.  I can’t give them the glowing recommendation I have for Printcopia and their awesome Canvas Prints, but if you are in the market for Car Magnets, Vinyl Banners or Lawn Signs you may want to check them out.

Guess what the best part is?  Printcopia is going to give one of my readers a free Canvas Print too!

I’m not sure how the free Rafflecopter works, so if there are technical problems, don’t despair, I’ll figure it out and just extend the contest.

Do you have a photo in mind you’d like to see as a canvas print?  If so, enter by using the rafflecopter below.
