Hunting Bigfoot

January 2, 2013 By Jodi

I have big feet.

It’s mostly due to their width, if they were hairy and dirty they’d be Hobbit feet.  But they’re not. Hairy and dirty I mean, nor are they Hobbit feet.

Sorry, I digress.  For the sake of the post, let’s just call them large.

Before we had the huge snowfall this past weekend, we had a slight covering on Christmas morning.

One of the things I love about walking in the fresh snow is observing tracks of creatures two and four-legged that have traveled the trails before us.

We discovered someone or something bigger than I, had already been through the trails.

That's a big foot!

That’s a big foot!

I called the dogs to me.

Sampson, Delilah listen to me.  There may be something very large on these trails.  We need to be sharp if we’re going to catch this wily creature.

Roger that mom, never fear, we’re on the trail.

So you're saying it's large and hairy and probably smells bad?

I'll go first and see if I can pick up his trail.

I’ll go first and see if I can pick up his trail.

You go that way Sampson, I think I smell something back here. Oh wait, that's just mom.

You go that way Sampson, I think I smell something back here. Oh wait, that’s just mom.

He's definitely been in these leaves.

He’s definitely been in these leaves.

Well he's not down here.

Well he’s not down here.

It looks like there's been a fire, do you think he knows how to start one?

Mom sprang a trap that Bigfoot had set to catch dinner. Lucky we were here to save her.

Oh NO! His foot prints are all over these sleigh tracks. I hope he didn't eat Santa.

Piss on you Bigfoot! Stay out of our woods.

Piss on you Bigfoot! Stay out of our woods.

We've sniffed and searched mom, I think we're safe.

We’ve sniffed and searched mom, I think we’re safe.

Well after almost an hour of searching we had to come to the conclusion that either Bigfoot was good at hiding, or there is in reality, no Bigfoot.

Did you ever encounter something odd on any of your walks?

The New Year’s Ball Dropped

January 1, 2013 By Jodi

(Once again, Technorati PAY ATTENTION THE BLOODY TOKEN IS RIGHT HERE 5XRHW22GZDXX).

Happy 2013!  That sound you heard?  Yup that was me dropping the New Year’s ball.

I wish I’d thought about making a “Best Of” post, but I didn’t. So I’m officially putting that on my 2013 ‘to do’ list, along with a myriad of other things, which I’ll outline in a future post.

All of us at Heart Like A Dog hope your New Year’s Eve was safe and fun and we are wishing you a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year filled with everything you love.

Speaking of things I love, here’s two of them for your viewing pleasure.  You may want to turn your volume down a bit, the camera was right in front of me and they were not. 🙂

This video was taken the morning after the 8+ inches of snow we got this past Saturday. (More to come on that in a later post.)

Thank you for a great 2012, you’ve taught me so much and helped me grow in so many ways.  You’ve hung with me when I moved to self-hosting, read my posts, listened to me whine, comforted and cheered me when I was down, picked me up when I struggled, the list is endless.

I am truly blessed to have all of you in my life.

Happy New Year from all of us at Heart Like A Dog!!!

Let It Snow

December 31, 2012 By Jodi

We call mischief on the snow that started Saturday afternoon and continued through the evening.

My daughter had gone out and after we had eaten dinner and cleaned up I decided to let Beauregard out of his ‘casa’ so he could potty.

The fact that he is a four-month old bull-dog puppy and we had at least eight inches of snow on the ground never dawned on me until I opened the door.

The snow reached the top of the shovel.

The snow reached the top of the shovel.

Hubby ran out to the front to get the shovel.

Bo took one look at the snow and said, no way.

No amount of coaxing could convince him to go outside.  Even after Hubby shoveled a path and we used treats to try to coax him, he wouldn’t budge.

I don't care what you offer me, I ain't goin.

I don’t care what you offer me, I ain’t goin.

Hubby went outside with the umbrella to shield him from the snow but the umbrella seemed to scare him.

Instead he came back inside and piddled on the rug.

When my daughter came home she asked, Did you put his coat on?

Um no, I didn’t realize he needed a coat to go outside.

They put his coat on and he ran outside and pottied.

When Sampson and Delilah went out a short while later, they had to break their own path.

You just push your way through it.

You just push your way through it.

Did you get snow where you live?  Did I mention this is the Monday Mischief Blog Hop hosted by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, Luna a Dog’s Life and My Brown Newfies?
