It’s a Doggone Shame

September 25, 2013 By Jodi

Delilah and Sampson here at the keyboard, to once again join our friends Koly and Felix from Kol’s Notes and Sherman and Leroy from My Brown Newfies in their amazing Human Shaming Blog hop.

humanshaming1

Delilah: I don’t know about you Sampson, but I’ve been waiting all year for this, I mean don’t get me wrong, I love the Mama, I really do, but sometimes I have to pray to that great canine in the sky, Sirius, for help with poor, simple Mama.

Sampson: You’re too hard on her Dee, you just never cut her some slack.

Delilah: Cut her some slack? Sam I’ve been attempting to train this woman for over six years!  Do you realize how much of my life I’ve spent trying to get this woman to follow me on a walk?  She’s fifty-three years old and still has to be on a leash for dog’s sake!!

Sampson: Um, Delilah I think you’re missing the point of the walk, it’s our job to stay with the Mama.

Delilah: Who told you THAT?

Sampson: It’s in the Canine Companion Book of Rules.  You have read that, right?

Delilah: That’s neither here nor there, the point is while The Mama is highly amusing to her human friends, she is exploiting us in photos and stories.  Oh wait, I forget, she’s never put a photo of you pooping or lifting your leg to pee, like she has me.  I’ll be honest, I’d expect something like that from the cat, but it shouldn’t EVER be from The Mama.

Sampson: Come on Delilah, you have to admit, that picture of you all hunched over in a poop stance was funny.

Delilah: Maybe to you, but NOT to me.  I have a reputation to uphold, a sense of dogcorum that must be adhered to.

Sampson: I understand your frustration Delilah, I really do, but I think we got a little off track, we’re supposed to be shaming The Mama in PICTURES.

Delilah: Fine!  You may remember last year we were able to get her to hold signs showing her shame, but not this year.  She wouldn’t fall for it twice, so we had to resort to just taking the pictures and adding the captions after.  Honestly, she’s not as dumb as she looks.  And if you saw her dressed for her walk, you’d KNOW she looks dumb.

But without further arguing with Blunder Boy…

Sampson: Not nice, Dee, not nice!

Delilah: Here is my contribution to the blog hop.

-1

Delilah: Look at her!  Not only is she dressed like a hobo, she has a bag of dingleberries hanging off her pants!  Who in Dog’s Name walks around with a bag of doody on their pants?  And it’s not too far from the treat bag, and she says the treats from China are tainted.  At least they aren’t shit flavored.

And she wonders why I run.

Sampson: BOL!  That was funny. You eat shit in the yard.

Delilah: This is my picture Sampson, I get to say what I want.  Shut your pie hole and put your picture up.

Sampson: Okay, here’s mine:

Potty Shaming

Sampson: Oh Mama, you disappoint me so when you do this.  I mean, I grew up next to Mrs.”I can’t keep my nose inside my house” next door neighbor and Grandma. I can’t help but dash outside when you say, “What’s that?” or “Did you hear that?” or “Who’s got this one?”  You’re taking advantage of the curious nature that was nurtured in me by my Grandma, how can you do that?

And speaking of Grandmas, I’d like to wish my Grandma a very Happy Birthday.  I love you Grandma!

Delilah: I love you too Grandma, have a very happy day!

I’m so sad, it’s over already.  I kind of like this blogging stuff….especially when I’m shaming The Mama.

What do you think about this shaming stuff?  Did you get shamed?  Hop along and see what other pups had to say about their humans.

You Make Me Smile, Then You Make Me Laugh

September 15, 2013 By Jodi

One of the big reasons I started this blog was for all the crazy, funny things my dogs do that bring a smile to my face or a laugh to my lips.

Sometimes it’s not easy to write a full blog post about it and sometimes I forget to share.

Some posts will be You Make Me Laugh and others will be You Make Me Smile, but they will all be the silly, sweet, funny things Sampson and Delilah do that help make crazy days just a little bit easier.

Feel free to share what your pet does to make you laugh/smile in the comments.

9-15-13 007 Sampson, you make me smile when you go way off into the woods so you can have some privacy to ‘do your business.’

9-15-13 008 You make me laugh when you’re finished and you dash out of the woods and race the wind, like you’ve just been shot out of a cannon.

Do you have a dog that digs privacy when they poop?  Or is yours more like Delilah who will go wherever the urge hits her?

Happy Sunday!

The Fox and the Hounds

September 12, 2013 By Jodi

Today we’re joining our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs Blog for the This ‘N That Thursday Blog hop.

It’s a little of this and a little of that and everything in between…

Alter Egos

Do you have an alter ego?  You know, Superman had Clark Kent, Spiderman had Peter Parker, Ironman had Tony Stark.  Jodi Stone has… well mostly I call her My Inner Bitch (MIB for short.)  It’s the little voice inside my head that says funny shit that sometimes escapes my mouth, she’s also sarcastic and at times can be plain mean.

I try and keep the mean one in check, but sometimes I open my mouth and out she pops.  Ooops!

What the woof are you barking at?

Monday I was prepping to walk the dogs.  This means changing my clothes, loading up my pockets, spraying the dogs etc.  Typically the dogs are wherever I am.  They know they are going on a walk and they’re super excited.

I opened the back door just in case someone couldn’t wait to potty and started about my business.

There was a symphony playing outside.

“Caw, Caw” said the crow.

It was followed by “trk trk trk trk trk trk” or something like a cross between a purr and teeth chattering.

Both dogs bolted for the door.

I put on my sneakers and gathered my things all the while listening to the cacophony of noise.

“Caw, caw, caw”

“Trk trk trk”

“Woof woof!”

Over and over again.

I looked out the door.  The dogs were at the fence intent on something in the neighbor’s yard.

“Caw caw”

“Trk trk trk”

“Woof woof!”

I thought the ‘trk’ sound was the sound a raccoon made, so I thought maybe there’s an injured raccoon outside and the crow is telling it to hurry up and die.

“Caw caw” Hurry up, I want to pick your dead carcass.

“Trk trk trk trk.” Eff off, I’m busy here.

Delilah, “Woof woof!” I’m putting my money on the crow.

Sampson, “Woof woof!” Hurry up and get on with it, we’re getting ready for our walk.

(Okay, so I made that conversation up.)

I walked outside to join the dogs at the fence and look at the dying raccoon.  Except it wasn’t a raccoon!!  It was that wily, sneaky, elusive fox!

Right there in my neighbor’s back yard eating something off the ground.  He turned and looked at me.

Dammit!!  Why didn’t I have my camera?

That’s when MIB spoke up.  Are you dressed for a walk or what?  You’re friggin’ camera is in your back pocket.

What? What?

Damn that bitch was right!  And the little guy was looking right at me smiling for the camera.

Fox Copyright

Don’t be fooled by the blurry photo, that fox is smiling.  His whole face says, “Cheese!”

MIB, “You really need a better camera.”

Me, “Yeah?  Take your show on the road and make some money, then we’ll get a better camera.”

Not the point, the point is it’s a point and shoot.  (God I crack myself up sometimes.) My excuse is I might have been a little shaky, you know from excitement, at actually seeing the fox.  Yeah, that’s it.  So I snapped a couple more.

Fox 2 Copyright

I must have calmed down some, but he also wasn’t looking at the camera either.  Two points to note here:

1) I was surprised by how long his tail was. When looking at the photo on the camera it sort of looks like a kangaroo.  2)  Do you notice how close he is to the neighbor’s deck?  Yes, this is the same neighbor that was concerned because we had a snake in our yard.  Yet she has two small boys and a dog that live here and play in this backyard.

And winner, winner chicken dinner, JoAnn called it!  When I finally got the photo of Delilah lifting her leg JoAnn said, “glad you finally caught it maybe your luck is changing and you will get the fox next.”

Dogs N Paws

Many of you know Lisa Brown from Dogs N Pawz, she’s the creator of Tuesday’s Tails blog hop, the hop that focuses on helping shelter animals find their forever homes.  Last week there was a tragedy at their house and Teddy was hurt, and they lost Phe, and I know Lisa’s really hurting right now so if you could stop by and offer a kind word, I know she’d appreciate it.

Follow-up Friday

Joining me tomorrow for co-hosting duties is the infamous Flea from Jones Natural Chews.  This gal is a riot, so be prepared to laugh.

That’s it for me, many thanks to our friends at the 2 Brown Dawgs Blog.
