Follow-Up Friday

April 6, 2012 By Jodi

For those new to the blog, my follow-up Friday provides me with an opportunity to update or revise a post from the previous week.

You know sometimes you post about something and you need an update but it doesn’t warrant a whole blog.  Or sometimes someone made a comment that really resonated with you.  Yup, Follow-Up Friday baby! :-)

Shadow Dancer – Author’s Note

That was the first time I can recall that Delilah was intrigued by her own shadow, thankfully it doesn’t happen as often as her obsession with reflections, but that topic is for another post.

Monday Mischief – Author’s Note

I have to admit, while I was standing there holding my camera, I was rooting for Delilah too, she was just so damn determined to get into that tub to lick the oil/sugar mixture.  I almost stopped filming and went over to give her a boost, but then I would be defeating my purpose. 🙂

I will say that is not something we will be letting her do with any consistency, 1) because I am worried about her getting two feet in the tub and slipping on the oil and hurting herself and 2) the outside of the tub is wood and she could scratch it.  I know, it’s superficial compared to her well-being but it is still a factor.

New Soul/Old Soul – Author’s Note

I think you guys were about split in whether you believe in old soul/new soul but it certainly would explain a lot of things, wouldn’t it?

Reindeer Speak – Author’s Note

Thanks for the comments, it my head it sounded really funny, but sometimes it’s hard to convey that in the written format.  I’m glad you enjoyed it.  Truthfully I have a couple of friends that every time we get together somehow the topic always changes to poop.  I guess I’m just weird that way.

That’s it for us, we hope you had a great week.

Enjoy your weekend.

Reindeer Speak

April 5, 2012 By Jodi

I’ve been thinking that even though my tagline says, “Life With Sampson And Delilah,” lately most of my posts are about Delilah.  Mostly because……well Delilah needs more work than Sampson does.

Which doesn’t mean that Sampson isn’t adorable in his own right.  So today I thought I’d share a story about something Sampson does that I think is absolutely adorable.

If you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time, you’ll know that there is nothing that is off-limits in terms of subject matter.

That being said, today’s topic is about pooping.

Dog pooping.

When we are out on the trails and the dogs have to poop, Delilah squats wherever she is and poops.

Sampson however likes a bit of privacy.  He will step off the trail, probably about 15 or 20 feet and do his business.   Many times I think he’s wandered off and I call him and look only to find him popping a squat.

Please give me some privacy while I find a nice place to poop.

While I think it’s very sweet that Sampson is so modest, it’s what he does AFTER he poops that causes the most amusement.

After Sampson does his business he gets his run on, like he’s just taken about 5 pounds off.  He zips past us, like he’s light as air, at which point Hubby or I will say, “I pooped, I pooped” in a Rudolph voice.

In Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, do you remember when all the little fawns first get together and Clarice takes a liking to Rudolph?  Rudolph gets all excited and shouts, “She thinks I’m cute, she thinks I’m cute,” and he flies through the air.

Ok, so this post worked in my head, but I’m not sure how it worked as a post.

What do you think was it funny or not?  And please be truthful.  🙂

New Soul/Old Soul

April 4, 2012 By Jodi

Do you believe in reincarnation?

I’m not sure whether I do or not.  Although when I’m sad or feeling sorry for myself, I have speculated if I was reincarnated, I must have been someone BAD in my other life.  Like Attila the Hun or Genghis Khan.

But I digress.

My sister has a theory regarding children…..they are either old souls or new souls.

A new soul is one of those children that are into everything! Everything they see goes into their mouths, you will need locks on your cabinets, you will need to cover your electrical outlets.  They will be the daredevils in sports, willing to try any and everything.

An example of a new soul is my granddaughter.  If you put something down, she is right there to pick it up, you need to have your eye on her constantly or she will get into trouble.

On the other hand an old soul is just the opposite.  These are the children who seem to take everything in stride.   They seem to already know what life is about and how to fit in.

An example of an old soul is my niece, she never put things in her mouth and she never crawled, she went straight to walking.   She likes 40’s Jazz music, and classic looks.  Not much shakes her up.

I’ve expanded my sister’s theory to include animals.  If I were to evaluate Sampson and Delilah based upon the old soul/new soul scale, I would have to say Sampson is an old soul and Delilah is a new soul.

Sampson is laid back, easy-going and not much shakes him up.

Delilah on the other hand is into everything!  Nothing is off-limits as to what goes into her mouth.  No, I do take that back, I’m eternally grateful that she has never (knock on wood) chewed a shoe, but that’s about the only thing.

It does not have to be food related either, her favorite things to rip apart are dryer sheets, plastic bags (food residue or no,) and tissues/paper towels/napkins.  This doesn’t mean that she won’t chew something else, just given her choice she would prefer to choose from those objects listed above.

Which explains her Modus operandi this morning.

Excuse the dirty rug, as you can see it is a high traffic area that needs cleaning.

Do you buy into the old soul/new soul theory?  If so, have you noticed any of old soul/new soul traits?
