Tuesday’s Tails – Regally Yours

July 2, 2013 By Jodi

What I love best about the Tuesday’s Tails blog hop is the opportunity to help an animal in shelter or rescue find a home where they can live out their days surrounded by love.

What I don’t like is perusing Petfinder looking for a dog to showcase.  It just breaks my heart to see so many pets that are homeless. And sometimes I just get angry when I read their stories and it’s also when I pull on my judgy pants.  And I can’t help it.

Take Regal for example, his owner’s relocated and couldn’t take him with them.

REGAL

This to me is unfathomable, I would never move somewhere where my pets could not go with me. I would sleep in a tent if I had to.  There I said it and may I just say, I hate sleeping in tents.

The petfinder page didn’t offer a lot of information about Regal, just that he is house-trained, knows some commands and of course would love a home of his own.

Regal is currently at the Humane Society in Walden, NY.

Normally I don’t ask people to share my posts.  I assume (perhaps unwisely on my part) that if you think I’ve got something particularly good to say that you will share it.  But I bend that rule on this blog hop.  My goal is to help animals find their forever homes and that means I will do what is necessary to accomplish this.  So please, please share.

Thank you to Lisa from Dogs N Pawz, she is the genius behind this blog hop.

This is Tuesday’s Tails.  The Blog Hop that features shelter animals.

Penny For Your Thoughts

June 25, 2013 By Jodi

Yesterday two of my friends helped their beloved pets cross over the bridge.

Mrs. Taleteller had her beloved Blueberry for 11 years, she has a beautiful tribute to Blue on her page today.

My facebook friend Tamara, helped her Hannah cross the bridge last evening.

Both of these dogs were well-loved, well-taken care of family pets.  Sadly their quality of life had changed and their owners with hearts full of love, helped ease their pain.  It is a wonderful, unselfish gift to be able to ease the pain of those we love, despite the fact our hearts will ache in the process.

My heart goes out to both of my friends who are missing their pets today.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope that you will find peace and comfort knowing your pets are pain-free.

Run fast, Run free Blueberry.

Run fast, Run free Hannah Marie.

Sadly there are so many animals in shelters whose lives will end, at the hands of a stranger because there is no room at the shelter and no-one wants an older pet.

Dogs like Penelope.

Looking at her sweet face just about breaks my heart.

Looking at her sweet face just about breaks my heart.

Penelope’s story is a sad one.  At 10-years-old she and her litter of puppies were dropped off at a high-kill shelter in the south.  Her owner’s signed the papers that should have ended her life.  “We don’t want her or her puppies, we’re tired of having dogs and anyway she’s old.”  And they left her.

Poor Penelope cuddled her puppies close, trying to protect them.  She was scared and confused and had no idea of where she was or what was happening.

But there is good news.  All of Penelope’s puppies were adopted and one of the shelter workers contacted a Lab Rescue and convinced them to pull Penelope.  As the rescue worker slipped a leash on her, Penelope licked their hand in gratitude.  You can find more about Penelope on her Petfinder page.

Penelope is currently in Lebanon, CT, if you are interested in helping Penelope spend her remaining years loved and cherished, you can contact lottoson@yahoo.com (Laurie.)

Please share Penelope on your social media networks and help her find the home she deserves.

Thank you to Lisa at Dogs N Pawz for Tuesday’s Tails, blog hop.

Meet EMMA

May 14, 2013 By Jodi

Hubby refuses to have a facebook page.  It’s all good, facebook isn’t for everyone.   Except he has a tendency to look over my shoulder and ask, “What’s that?”

The other day someone had posted a photo of their dog and he asked, “What happened to that dog?”

I said, “He’s missing an eye, that’s what our next dog is going to be.”

“A dog with one eye?”

“Not necessarily a dog with one eye, but the dog will be black and will either be a Senior or a Special Needs dog; or a Beagle rescued from lab testing.”

“I don’t want a Beagle.”

(I’ll tell you what Hubby always told the kids about “want” but I’ll save that for Friday’s post.)

I tell you all this because today I’m once again participating with Dogs N Pawz for the Tuesday’s Tails Blog Hop and I’m once again focusing my efforts on a Senior.

Meet Emma.  Emma is a ten- to twelve- year-old, fifty pound black Labrador Retriever looking for her forever home.  She’s a very laid back, yet sweet and loving girl who loves the company of people and other dogs. She’s house- and crate-trained, walks well on leash, loves to go for rides in the car, and generally does anything she can to please her people.  She’s looking for a loving home where a senior dog that walks a little slower, and enjoys her naps can have the love and companionship she desires.

Emma is currently being fostered in CT and is one of the Labs being sponsored by Labs 4 Rescue. All Labs 4 Rescue pups are altered, up to date on their shots and have been temperament tested.

For additional information about Emma #22 please email Susan Ekaireb at susanekaireb@gmail.com.

I’m not normally one for asking people to share my posts (of course if you love them and want to that’s totally your choice) BUT when it comes to helping dogs find a loving home to spend the rest of their days.  Well let’s just say, I’m not above begging.

Please share where you can.  Together we really can make a difference!!  This is Tuesday’s Tails Blog Hop.
