This ‘N That Thursday (10-11-12)

October 11, 2012 By Jodi

Once again we join our friends over at 2 Brown Dawgs for This ‘N That Thursday.

What you haven’t heard about it?  Here’s what 2 Brown Dawgs has to say about it, “This ‘N That Thursday is for those times when you want to post about unrelated topics or each topic isn’t quite long enough to make up a whole post.”

You’re very welcome to join us, it’s not an exclusive club. 😉

Comments

I love comments, the more the better.  I love hearing what you have to say, I love you sharing your experiences with me and I love the ‘conversations’ we have and the differences of opinions that make me think and in turn grow as an individual.

I also love answering my comments, each and every one of them and I’m really behind in that task right now.  I really, really miss my lap top, having to share a desk top is really cramping my style.

Not that I’m not grateful to Hubby for his generosity, I just want my lap top.  I want to sit in my bed, snuggled against my puppies, General Hospital on the TV and respond to your comments.  Is that too much to ask for?

Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop

You may have noticed our first co-hosted blog hop had a little bit of a SNAFU.  I’m working on getting the kinks straightened out and have sent an e-mail and am waiting for a response.

There will still be a FUF blog hop this week, it just won’t be co-hosted.  Hopefully everything will be back on track for next week.  If all goes well and she’s willing to participate my co-host for next week will be Kristine and her amazing blog, Rescued Insanity.

If you aren’t already a follower of Kristine’s your really missing out.  Yesterday she posted my all-time favorite story of Shiva.  If you haven’t read it, be prepared.  It’s outrageous!

Smiling Sam

Did you see that photograph, of probably a year or so ago when a woman posted on one of those photo sites of her dog at his birthday party with a big ole’ smile on his face?

Well my Sam-man smiles all the time, I tried to get a picture last night of it, because well he’s just so gosh darn cute.

Smiling?

What do you think?  Did I capture it or not?  Does your pup smile at you?

W.T.F./Whoo Hoo Wednesday (10-10-12)

October 10, 2012 By Jodi

My W.T.F./Whoo Hoo Wednesday is slightly different this week. I’m not really sure what the issue is, if I’m suffering from writer’s block, the change in the seasons or burnout, all I know is I’m finding it hard to sit down and write.

Maybe it’s because PCW Computer promised me my laptop would be ready in four to five business days and here I sit eight business days later without my laptop!

W.T.F. PCW? Don’t you work on computers?  Don’t you know how long it takes to replace a power jack?

When I called they said, we had to order the part, it should be done by Wednesday. Why don’t you carry power jacks in stock? What kind of computer repair store does NOT carry power jacks?

I can guarantee you I will not be using PCW Computer again and once my laptop is safely back in my lap, I’m going to let them know why.

Not having my laptop has not been good.  Yesterday I spent most of the afternoon looking for W.T.F. posts, which normally come across my facebook page, but I could find nothing.

Stone Manor

I had to look to Stone Manor for some W.T.F.’s.

Dear Bob Stone,

Sweet little kitty – NOT.

You are cute, I’ll give you that.  And I love the way you are learning to sit on command and how you think you are a dog and mimic what they do, but W.T.F. do you think is going to happen when you are directly under my feet?

First the sound you make will either give me a heart attack or cause me to shit myself have an accident.  Second I only have two legs, do you know how hard it is to shave scabby legs?

I didn’t think so.

Do you like getting stepped on or is it you like clawing the shit heck out of my legs?

Stop. Getting. Under. My. Feet.

W.T.F./Whoo/Hoo

These next two stories (for me anyway) fall into W.T.F and Whoo Hoo.

A Community Comes Together to Reunite a Little Girl with her Stolen Dog, San Jose, CA

A family’s house was robbed and the thieves took a ten-year-old little girl’s puppy.

W.T.F.?  I can picture this so clearly in my mind, two stoonads running around the house grabbing items of value and stuffing them in a messenger bag, “ooh look at this iPAD we can get $100 for this, and probably $50 for that netbook, hey Bubba, don’t forget that little Shorkie in the corner, what do you suppose we can get for a Shorkie?”

I know there are lots of dog fences in this country, but I don’t know of many places that fence dogs.  Perhaps our thieves missed the fact that MILLIONS of dogs are euthanized every year because they wind up in shelters.

Here’s the best and sweetest part of this story, the  little girl offered all the money in her piggy bank as a reward for the return of her puppy.  (Collective AWWWWWW) The city council and police and fire unions chipped in as well.

The reward worked and the dog was found 80 miles away and returned to the little girl.

This next story is horrendous.

King County seizes dog that killed Chihuahua in Tukwila last week,  Wukwila, WA

A 12-year-old girl was walking her aunt’s Chihuahua, Champ when an aggressive dog slipped away from his owner and attacked Champ.

I hate to be the Debbie Downer here, but this child should NOT have been walking the dog, specifically for this reason.  Do I think a kid should be able to walk their dog?  Absolutely.  But with the idiot dog owner virus running rampant in this country (and no apparent vaccine in sight) it’s not wise to let your children walk the dog unattended by an adult.

The dog’s owner stood there and watched as his dog attacked the Chihuahua and told the  young girl, ‘your dog is dead, your dog is dead.’ After his dog dropped little Champ the guy just walked away.

Yo douche bag, we have people called responsible dog owners in this country, if you can’t be a responsible dog owner, you might try being a human being.

I really believe we should have a nationwide animal registry in this country so assholes like this can never own an animal.

Ever Again.

Sadly Champ died on his way to the vet.

Here is the Whoo Hoo part, a local resident delivered a new puppy to the family, Eric Bertlesen knows the puppy cannot replace Champ, but he does want the young girl to know that not all people are bad.

The owner of Champ left this comment on the news story,

“As for the owner and his dog, personally, I hate that the dog is the one who had to be punished for this. The dog was being a dog. I believe that dogs are capable of being vicious killers or loyal companions (they are decedents of wolves after all.) The owner has control over which qualities to bring out best. The man in question failed to be human and take responsibility for his dog. Had he stayed at the park, maybe even offered an apology, none of this would have happened. We would have accepted it as an accident, and painfully tried to move on. The fact that he knew what he was doing when he walked away and chose to ignore the signs we posted up by his apartment complex shows really just shows how much character he lacks. He let his dog down, and I hope that they are able to rehabilitate the dog and find a decent home with capable owners to watch over him. 2 animals don’t have to die over this.”

Wow, I don’t know if I could be so generous if my dog was attacked.

So how has your week been?  Any W.T.F.’s or Whoo Hoo’s you’d like to share?  How’s your writing going, am I the only one struggling?

P.S. I realize there’s a spelling error in the quote, that is the way it was written.

Thoughts I Ponder

October 9, 2012 By Jodi

I’m having a real brain fart when it comes to today’s post. I started three different posts and deleted them all.  I decided I’m just going to throw out the thoughts that have been running around in my head, the last day or so.

BTW, these thoughts do not keep me up at night.

How do fires start?  I tried and tried to get a fire going in the fireplace last night but just couldn’t do it, and that was using wood, matches and paper.

Why must it get dark earlier in winter?  I mean I know scientifically why it gets darker, but really Mother Nature, do you think we have less things to do during the winter that require daylight?

How do you keep a chocolate lab named Delilah from taking clean containers out of the dish rack?  Why is a clean chicken container enticing to chew?

Why can’t she chew the lid from the Chinese food container instead of the one from Pampered Chef?  The Chinese ones are free!

Delilah, Pampered Chef is expensive!

If people are attracted to people similar to themselves, does that hold true for attractions their dogs?  What does that say about me?

Why does a store say 50% off one regularly priced item, instead of any item?  50% off a regularly priced $50 item is $25.00, 50% off an item on sale for $4.99 is $2.50.  That’s a big difference in what you’re giving away.

How long does it take to replace the power jack in a laptop? The told me four or five days, it’s been 10. (I miss my laptop!!)

How can Delilah wait so patiently for her dad to come home but have no patience for anything else?

He’s coming soon, I can smell him.

How can a dog follow you everywhere you go in the house, sit in front of you while you do your business, but run off in the woods?

Really, where is Waldo?  Why does anyone care?

Am I the only one who thinks like this?  What kind of thoughts do you ponder?
