Pet Blogger Showcase, August 6, 2016

August 6, 2016 By Jodi

Thank you for joining me today for the 3rd Pet Blogger Showcase. Today I’ll be sharing three (okay four) of MY favorite posts from the previous Pet Blogger party which took place on July 22, 2016. Going forward, on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month, I and my three co-hosts, will be sharing three of their favorite posts from the week before. Easy right? You guys are making it super tough for me to settle on only three, so once again this week, I have an honorable mention. Here in no uncertain order, I present my favorite posts from the last Showcase. My Life with Dogs 8-6-16 Five Tips on Walking a Reactive Dog: What I’ve Learned by Christy at My Life With Dogs.  Having two reactive dogs myself, I love reading how other dog lovers approach and manage their dogs. If you’ve struggled at all with your dog, you’ll get some great tips here. I Love My Chi 8-6-16 How to Save Dogs Left in Hot Cars by Kilosmom at I Love My Chi. Honestly, I can’t believe that people actually STILL have to talk about this, but almost every week, I hear a story about a dog that dies from being left in a car. You’ll find some great ideas here and also a list of states that have laws against this. Happy Tails: Khali the Pit bull by Daily Dog Tag. There are a number of areas in both Canada and the US where people are trying to ban Pit Bulls. Banning breeds (or people) is not effective. Find out how you can help the dogs in Montreal in this post. (Photo courtesy of Chantal Levesque Photo) Honorable mention: Why dogs kick up grass and dirt after pooping and peeing by Jan at The Poodle and the Dog blog. Anyone that knows me (and reads this blog) knows WHY this post made the list. Why just the other day Delilah flung a dirt bomb at me as I was bending to scoop that poop.     Pet Blogger Showcase 2 Welcome to the Pet Blogger Showcase! Cindy Lu’s Muse

December 30, 2014 By Jodi

I’m taking part in the Pet Bloggers gift exchange hosted by Something Wagging This Way Comes.

This year I’ve been paired with Cindy Lu’s Muse blog and the mastermind behind the blog, Kim Thomas.

CindyLuWhatYouThinkin-21

This is Cindy Lu.  Isn’t she adorbs?  (I’ll let you in on a little secret, I want to call her Cindy Lu Who. It’s not Grinchy, I mean Cindy Lu Who was adorbs too!)

The past two years I was paired with bloggers I didn’t know and it was a great experience meeting some new blogs and learning more about them and their pets.

This year the situation is slightly different as I’m already friends with Kim.  We hang out together socially (on Facebook) and I’m a great admirer of hers.

One of my favorite things about Kim is how passionate she is about being the change for animals.  Kim is one of the driving forces behind Blog the Change for Animals.

You remember Blog the Change?  It’s a quarterly blog hop where bloggers:

  • Tell the world what they’ve done to Be the Change for Animals
  • Who they know who acts tirelessly on animals’ behalf.
  • What favorite cause has a special need right at the moment.

While I have been friends with Kim for a bit, here’s the thing.  I never really followed her blog.  (Don’t worry,  I’ve rectified that now. )

What I discovered from reading Kim’s blog is she isn’t just passionate about being the change for animals four times a year.  It’s truly a passion for her.  One look at her blog and you will see,  her blog is dedicated to animals.  There is a page with adoptable pets in her area.   Her Last-Minute Gift Ideas for Pet Lovers had a host of organizations with the suggestion to donate a gift in your favorite pet lovers name.

it doesn’t stop there.  Her Pinterest board is amazing, she’s also active on Facebook (duh, I already told you we hang out there), Twitter and G+ (something I’ve yet to learn.)

Kim is also in tune with legislation in the works that has the potential to impact animals, and she shares this information on her blog as well as her social media sites.

If you haven’t met Kim yet what are you waiting for?  Go check her out, you can find her on:

Many thanks for Pamela at Something Wagging This Way Comes for organizing this blog hop and pairing me with Kim.  I’m thrilled to learn more about the awesomeness that is Kim and honored to call her my friend.

Are You Ready for Some Good Carma?

January 1, 2014 By Jodi

Pet-Bloggers-Gift-Exchange-graphic  Welcome, welcome 2014!!  Are you ready for some Good Carma?

Of course you are!  Well good news!  You’ve arrived at the right place my friend. Pour yourself a cup of coffee, splash a healthy shot of Bailey’s in it and sit down, I’m going to share some really good Carma with you.

I’m talking about Carma Poodale of course.  I was lucky enough to draw Carma Poodale’s blog in the Pet Blogger’s Gift Exchange hosted by Pamela at Something Wagging This Way Comes and AJ from I Still Want More Puppies!

Isn’t she adorable? She even has her nails painted. Pawicure please Shamelessly stolen from Carma’s blog.

I was surprised by what I discovered by exploring Carma’s blog.  For instance, I had no idea that Carma was a service dog for a person with MS.  Yes Carma PoodaIe is a medical alert/mobility dog.  Part of her job is to help her person with balance (getting up and down, or moving from room to room) but she is also trained to notice fatigue and lead her person to a chair or find a place for her person to lean, if need be.  She is also trained to remind her person to take medications.  Carma is also able to fetch dropped items, retrieve canes or pull wheel chairs!  I don’t know about you, but that is pretty impressive to me.

Service dog Again, shamelessly stolen from Carma’s Blog.

The other thing that really impressed me about Carma is that she is extremely active with her local Humane Society.  Carma and her mom educated people about spay/neuter, work to find forever homes for the animals housed at the Humane Society, raise funds for the shelter and encourage better pet parenting.

Carma and Mom Carma and her mom, you guessed it, shamelessly stolen from their blog.

What’s not to love about Carma and her blog?  I look forward to learning more about her in the new year.  You can follow Carma on her social media outlets listed below.
