Pet Blogger Showcase – September 16, 2017

September 16, 2017 By Jodi

Hey there, I hope you all had a happy and peaceful Labor Day weekend. I don’t know about you all, but I’m currently thinking of running for Congress and the first bill I will introduce is for mandatory three-day weekends. Are you with me? 😉

Honestly, I really do feel like three day weekends are needed. I can get stuff done, and still feel like I have some down time, you know what I mean? Most two-day weekends I spend doing errands and household chores and then I’m right back at work on Monday.

But you didn’t come here for that did you? No, you came for the Showcase, so let’s get to it, shall we?

Sully or Junior? I still don’t know. 🙂 Photo courtesy of Big Dog Mom.

The Ultimate Guide To Cutting Dog Nails And Having Them Love You For It – by Big Dog Mom at Big Dog Mom: So…confession time. I know Sampson’s nails (at least a couple of them) are too long.  I also suspect they are causing him discomfort.  I started trying to use the Dremel on him, but I was never quite sure how frequently I could use it.  Luckily for me, Big Dog Mom has my back, and yours as well. So…if you’re struggling with trimming, or dremeling your dog’s nails, check out this post. She also has some really neat videos to help guide you.

I don’t know this little cutie’s name, but she sure is cute! Photo courtesy of 15 and Meowing.

Selfie Sunday by Ellen Pilch at 15 And Meowing: Boy did I laugh at this one. Sometimes we have silly conversations in my house, and when we do, I like to post them on Facebook.  (I know, it’s a good thing Hubby doesn’t have Facebook or read this blog!) Sometimes silly things happen too, but unless they involve the dogs, I don’t post about. BUT, if the dogs got their way, or wrote this blog, I’m sure they’d out me, just like the kitty outed her Mama on this post. FYI, I did the same thing to Hubby that the Kitty Mama did to the Kitty Daddy. That’s all I’m going to tell you, go read it yourself. 🙂

Look how much fun this Collie is having. Photo courtesy of All Things Collie.

The Versatile Collie – the Collie in Agility by Kathleen at All Things Collie: A number of years ago, Delilah and I did drop in agility, and it was SO fun. (Below is one of our agility run’s to show you how much fun it really was!) Agility is definitely fun, and having a good dog that gets you and follows what you’re leading with will definitely help.  Kathleen has been running a number of posts showcasing collies, and how versatile they are to many different sports/abilities. I have really enjoyed her series, and I hope you do as well.

Pet Blogger Showcase – September 2, 2017

September 2, 2017 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s Pet Blogger Showcase. I can’t believe it’s been two weeks already!  Can you believe it’s already September? Here in the northeast, we’ve been have some decidedly Autumn-like weather. I’m not going to lie, I’ve been digging it.

I’ve also been digging these blog posts from the last PBS.

Who looks more comfy? (Photo courtesy of Tails Around the Ranch)

Sleeping with Dogs from Monika, Sam and Elsa at Tails Around the Ranch – Some people do, some people don’t. Some think it’s gross, others love it.  I love when one (or both) of my guys sleep with me, although many is the night that my ass is hanging out of the covers, or I’m twisted up like a pretzel, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.  Where do you stand on the issue?

Junior or Sully? I’m not sure! Photo courtesy of Big Dog Mom

Every Great Dog Name Has a Story, What is Yours? by Stephanie at Big Dog Mom – I love hearing how people chose the name for their dogs. Stephanie believes a dog’s name becomes the essence of who they are. I have to agree with that. My Sampson (despite not being spelled biblically) is my strength. Although I have to say, Delilah is NOT his weakness. 🙂 Has your dog become the essence of their name? I can think of a couple of dogs who have.

You gotta love a woman who takes her dogs and her beer seriously. Photo courtesy of Travels with Barley.

The Brew Dogs Hit Birmingham by Beth at Travels With Barley – First, I LOVE hearing about dog friendly places, and I love how Beth includes her dogs in everything she does. Second, I’m impressed as hell that she made the drive from her home to Alabama with two dogs, and by herself no less. Way to go Beth! Side note, Beth’s post also gave me inspiration to have a conversation with my Vet, which I’ll tell you about in a later post.

So, that’s it for me, how did I do? Did you enjoy the same posts I did?

Finally, please, have a safe and peaceful holiday weekend.

Pet Blogger Showcase – August 19, 2017

August 19, 2017 By Jodi

I’ve fallen behind on blogging again. My goal to post three times per week didn’t happen this week. I think it’s been all those medical posts, they just exhaust me. Couple that with an increase in travel time with my new job, and some days, I just don’t have the energy.

Thankfully, the amazing bloggers below have been able to stay in the game.  Check out picks for this week’s showcase and let me know how I did.

8 Dog-Friendly Plants that Repel Bugs by Jan at Wag’N Woof Pets – Woof! If you have dogs (why do I say that? Why would you be reading this blog if you didn’t have dogs?) you know that bugs bring all manner of threat and illness to your dogs. When dealing with the nasty insects (fleas, ticks, mosquitos, black flies) you need every weapon in your arsenal to defeat these pesky buggers. Why not landscape your yard, and protect your pets all at the same time. If you’re looking to do just that, Jan’s post will get you started. The bonus, the plants are all safe for your dog.

A Pet Groomer’s Guide to Cleaning Dog Ears by Cathy at I Love My Chi – Long-eared or short-eared, it doesn’t matter. If you have a dog, it’s important to keep their ears clean.  Unless you have money to burn (are you looking to adopt a child? I’m older, but I promise I’ll be a good kid and take care of you in your senior years; ask my dogs, they’ll vouch for me.) Odds are you will need to clean your dog’s ears yourself. How and how often are the tricky questions, but Cathy, a pet groomer has the answers. Plus, there’s a video which shows you how to acclimate your dogs to ear cleaning, especially if they have concerns. There’s also a nifty little tip for a natural solution to assist in keeping those ears clean!

Photo Courtesy of Big Dog Mom

Big Dog Mom’s Most Glaring Weakness Revealed and it Will Surprise You by Big Dog Mom at Big Dog Mom – Here’s the surprise to me.  Her weakness isn’t for big dogs!  Alright, I take that back. Of course she has a weakness for big dogs, she HAS big dogs! I actually found her weakness a little on the funny side, because she does something very similar to something I do. (And it’s not the big dog thing again!) But that’s all I’m going to tell you, but after you read her post, you can guess in the comments. 🙂
