“This ‘N That Thursday A little of this and a little of that and everything in between…

Mr. Linky

Has anyone had a problem with the linky tool and contacting the owner?

A couple of weeks ago I went into my linky list to manage my FUF entries and I had a little issue.  No problem, I shot Mr. Linky Tools an e-mail asking for clarification and some help with fixing the issue.  I got the form e-mail back saying it’s a one man show who handles everything so please be patient.

That was almost two full weeks ago.  I’m still waiting for an answer to my question.

Have I mentioned I’m not a very patient person?

Does anyone know if it’s possible to cancel your linky subscription and get your money back?

Lagging Behind

I’m still way behind on reading and commenting on some of your blogs.  I have finally given up the google reader and am using Feedly now.  So far I really like it and I find it easy to use.  I’ve also downloaded Reeder on the iPad and hopefully I can catch up soon.

Free Style

The pressure’s on.  Next Tuesday is the last night of Delilah and my Free Style class, we were informed this week that we are expected to do a small routine and we aren’t even close to ready.

So far I’m fairly confident with about four moves, don’t get me wrong, she knows a number of tricks, I’m just not sure how to work them into a routine.

This is our show heel.

This is our show heel.

This is her touch

This is her touch

Okay, I can work the show heel in, but touch?  I’m not sure.  She does know spin and twirl and she’s getting pretty good at weaving between my legs but the last time I tried to get her to jump over my leg she stood on it.

It hurt.

I think I have our song picked out but I’m not sure what we can really put together in terms of a routine.  I may be spending this weekend cramming  like it was an exam. Any of you take Free Style?  Any thoughts on how to throw this routine together?

Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday

A couple of weeks back I began leaking the FUF co-hostess’ name in hopes of making life a little bit easier for those of you who participate.

So without further ado, my co-hostess for this week’s Follow-Up Friday is Jackie Bouchard from Pooch Smooches. I’m excited to have Jackie co-hosting.  Please check back tomorrow for a proper introduction. 🙂

Many thanks to our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs for This ‘N That Thursday.

Poetry in Motion

June 3, 2013 By Jodi

Sampson and Delilah don’t have the best greeting skills.   Their idea of greeting a person is to rush to the door and wait to be petted.

We do work on greeting skills when people come over, but it’s what I consider a work in progress.

Their dog greeting skills are similar.  If they are on leash when they see another dog, they go right to the end, straining and pulling.  If they are off-leash, they will rush full out to get their sniff on.

When we are walking, I try to be aware of other dogs.  Most of the dogs on the trails we walk on are off-leash and have the same greeting skills as Sampson and Delilah, making it difficult to work on our own greeting skills.

Occasionally we have what I refer to as a stalker dog.

You know what I mean, the kind of dog that follows you for a bit, never coming quite close enough and running the opposite way when my dogs try and approach.

Typically I let the dogs choose our route, unless I know there is a LaCrosse game in the field.  Whichever way they turn I follow.  Normally they go the same way, which is okay with me.

Last week we were heading up the main trail when I saw a small Jack Russell Terrier coming towards us at a quick pace.

I was quick, but not quick enough.  Sampson and Delilah saw him too.

Not "THE" stalker dog, but similar. (This is my sister's dog, J.D.)

Not “THE” stalker dog, but similar. (This is my sister’s dog, J.D.)

Both my guys stood stock still, watching.  The dog kept coming.

“Sampson come!” I called  He stood watching. The JR kept coming.

“Delilah here” I coaxed.  She stood still at the end of the leash, watching the troops advance.

“Puppy STOP!” I bellowed at the Jack Russel, not knowing his name. He kept coming.

“Puppy GO BACK” I yelled.  His little JR legs propelled him closer.

I dropped Delilah’s leash and released the hounds.

There was a little growling, but no sounds of a scuffle.  Meanwhile at no point in time did another person appear in the scene, this took place in about the course of a minute and a half.

I turned and walked the other way calling my dogs.  Once the initial greeting was over, they quickly came back.  But I watched, he still continued to follow us for a bit but once we hit the field, he left us.

Here’s what impresses me about my dogs.  They were both stiff and focused on the approaching dog, when I dropped Delilah’s leash, it was if I’d blew a whistle, somehow they both knew it was time to charge and they moved as if they were one.

Just like Poetry in Motion.

I'm keeping a lookout for Stalker Dogs.

I’m keeping a lookout for Stalker Dogs.

How do you handle uncontrolled dogs on your walks? Have you ever encountered a stalker dog?

You Make Me Laugh – June 2, 2013

June 2, 2013 By Jodi

One of the big reasons I started this blog was for all the crazy, funny things my dogs do that bring a smile to my face or a laugh to my lips.

Sometimes it’s not easy to write a full blog post about it and sometimes I forget to share.

Some posts will be You Make Me Laugh and others will be You Make Me Smile, but they will all be the silly, sweet, funny things Sampson and Delilah do that help make crazy days just a little bit easier.

Feel free to share what your pet does to make you laugh/smile in the comments.

Drinking Coffee

The pig came that way, I swear. I did NOT chew off its ears.

Thwp, thwp, thwp.

The funny thing is, she doesn’t drink Hubby’s coffee.  I think it’s because mine has cream in it and he drinks his black.

Silly girl.
