You Make Me Smile – June 30, 2013

June 30, 2013 By Jodi

One of the big reasons I started this blog was for all the crazy, funny things my dogs do that bring a smile to my face or a laugh to my lips.

Sometimes it’s not easy to write a full blog post about it and sometimes I forget to share.

Some posts will be You Make Me Laugh and others will be You Make Me Smile, but they will all be the silly, sweet, funny things Sampson and Delilah do that help make crazy days just a little bit easier.

Feel free to share what your pet does to make you laugh/smile in the comments.

How can you hear that and not smile, knowing the welcome you are about to receive?  How do your pets welcome you home?

Delilah Likes to Roll in Smelly Things

June 26, 2013 By Jodi

Well it’s true.  Delilah loves to roll in smelly things.  Her favorites being dryer sheets.  She gets a far away dreamy look in her eyes, takes the sheet in her mouth, tears it to shreds and then rolls in it.

She also likes dirty towels, Hubby’s garage rags and Grandma’s underwear.  Why she wants to smell like Grandma’s cooter is beyond me, we just need to keep in mind not to pet her after she’s been visiting Grandma.

Typically she leaves my clothes alone, I take that as a good sign that my deodorant is working.  Every once in a while though, she’ll take one of my shirts.

Yesterday was one of those days. I was changing my clothes so I could take them for their walk.  I had taken off my shirt and thrown it on the floor.

I heard a noise and looked up to see Delilah rolling around on my shirt.

How cute I thought, she wants to smell like me.  I whipped out my cell phone and started the video.

Yes that was me gasping as I realized she was trying to SHRED my shirt.  It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye, or in this case their shirt.

When I showed the video to Hubby he said, “Why is she tearing your shirt?”

Eye roll.  Well she wasn’t when the video started!!  Holy smack, how did that happen?  Have you ever had your pet turn the tables on you?

One, Two

June 24, 2013 By Jodi

One, two foxes at my front door, that’s what I said now

Foxes, foxes who ignore you, they run ahead now

Sorry for the Spin Doctors reference, it just popped into my head.  And now, it’s stuck in yours.  You’re welcome.

Hubby made to step out the door Friday night intent on putting the doors on his jeep.  Sampson was right behind him, when he said, “There are two foxes out here.”

Isn’t this adorbs?  Yes, I want one.

Immediately I said, “Well he can’t go out then.”

Sampson said, “Woof, woof, whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine” which is Retriever for, “Let me at that Schiznit.”

Then Delilah joined the party.  When they were denied access to the front yard, they raced out the back, but the fox were too fast.  Once they saw Hubby they high-tailed it out of our yard and into the neighbor’s yard.

The next day Sampson sniffed the yard methodically, I think he was trying to figure out whose dog it was.

They were here, I can smell them, but they're gone now.

They were here, I can smell them, but they’re gone now.  Drats, foiled again!

We have seen wildlife around the area.  We’ve seen deer and wild turkeys.  We’ve been told there are fishers and coyotes but we’ve never seen them.  And we’ve never had a fox in the yard before.   It makes me a tad bit nervous, only because I worry about them getting into the fence and one of the dogs getting into an altercation with it. (Like the time we had the deer in the yard.)

What types of wildlife do you have in your area?  Are they bold enough to step into your yard? Do you worry about your pets getting into the animal version of a pissing contest?
