Follow-Up Friday

January 20, 2012 By Jodi

For those new to the blog, my follow-up Friday provides me with an opportunity to update or revise a post from the previous week.

You know sometimes you post about something and you need an update but it doesn’t warrant a whole blog.  Or sometimes someone made a comment that really resonated with you.  Yup, Follow-Up Friday baby! 🙂

2012 Goals – Author’s Note

Many of you thought my goals were highly ambitious and I guess maybe they were, but you should know me by now.  I’m the one going Mock 2 with my hair on fire.

That’s just how I roll, I want to succeed with my writing and am determined to do so.

Blog The Change, BE The Change – Author’s Note

I was surprised that no-one thought I was whacked out in that post.  I mean, I really do believe in harsher penalties for animal abusers,  I thought my idea of the stockade in the center of town would get some flack, but you guys didn’t blink an eye.  Although at least one you was amused at the image of me with rotten tomatoes in my hands climbing down off a soap box. 🙂

Charitable Acts – Author’s Note

Some of you wrote in saying you used the grinding tool for your dog’s nails and you didn’t have to worry about cutting the quick.  We thought the grinder would be a good idea as well, but they were almost impossible to get when they first came out because everyone wanted one.  We finally got one and poor Sampson is terrified of it, I can’t stand his trembling while Hubby tries to file.  I put it away in the back of the closet and some lucky person will be able to pick it up for like $5 bucks at my tag sale. 🙂

Never A Dull Moment – Author’s Note

I’ve been wanting to write about Delilah’s habit of jamming her head between my legs for a long time, but truthfully, it sounds weird.  I really do think it would be a funny picture and might try to get a picture of it, she doesn’t always do it when there is someone around to take a picture though. 🙂

This morning when she did it, I decided to walk with her and see if I can teach her WALK  so I can complete Pamela at Something Wagging’s challenge to train your dog month.

I had originally thought I would try to teach Delilah to roll over, but when I was preparing food and watching how high she was jumping, I started teaching her to jump up and put her two front paws on my hip.  Why?  I don’t know really, I was just thinking if I ever decide to enter a dance competition with her it might be a cool trick.

Which is also the same reason I am teaching her to walk with her head between my legs.  Just in case I decide to enter a dance competition with my dog.

Yeah, that’s it.

I would have to say we’ve had a pretty good week, and how was yours?

Book update: My book has 3,650 words.

Sorry For The Interruption

January 18, 2012 By Jodi

I’m sorry for the big black protest post you saw this morning.  Well let me rephrase that, I’m sorry for not giving you notice that would be up this morning.

I have to admit, I am way behind in the times.  I had no idea the Senate, who apparently have NO OTHER ISSUES to deal with, were working on a vote to limit our internet freedoms.   While the idea of the bill does have some merit, the bill itself is far too broad.

I found out about the internet protest last night, after I had published my post.  And after reading the posts from Rescued Insanity and  Something Wagging This Way Comes, I followed Word Press’ instructions and joined the protest.

I hope if you visited this site and saw the protest, you took a moment to view the video.  That’s all I ask, what you choose to do with that information is up to you.

I did have a little something dog related to share with you today.  It falls into the “My Dog Makes Me Laugh” category.

The other night I was preparing dinner and Sampson and Delilah (those model dog citizens) were sitting in their respective areas on the edges of the kitchen.  Hubby disappeared and I wasn’t sure in which direction he had gone.  Dinner was ready and I looked at Sampson (who was looking at me) and I said, “Where’s Daddy?”  Sampson turned his head in the direction of the bedroom and a few seconds later, Hubby came out.  Which made me burst out laughing because it was so perfectly timed.

And like Sampson knew EXACTLY what I was saying. 🙂

I’m sure your pet makes you smile on a daily basis, but does he/she do something that makes you laugh?

Where The Wild Things Are…Day One Hundred and Thirty

April 9, 2011 By Jodi

Chet was outside working in the yard; I went out to ask him something and I noticed the neighbor’s dog.

Notice the tail....

Immediately I thought, “Isn’t the dog a little old to have his tail docked?”  Then Chet told that the dog had gotten loose and gone to the park at the top of the street and came back missing his tail.  Something ferocious that is not afraid to attack a large dog lives in the woods at the top of the street.  The poor dog had bite marks all over his tail.  The neighbor told Chet the story and also indicated, “This dog does not back down from a fight.”

I have to admit, I’m a little freaked out.  Without knowing the entire story, such as the time of day the dog got away, if it was gone overnight etc…it makes me a little nervous taking my dogs up to the woods.  I’m not entirely certain that Delilah wouldn’t want to try to fight. I do carry  Pepper Blaster II and had really thought about it more for protection against the two-legged predator as opposed to the four.  From what I’ve read, it should work on a wild animal.

I wonder what kind and size of animal might be up in the woods and hungry and vicious enough to take on a large dog.  I know you can’t tell from the picture but this is a decent size dog; I would say somewhere in the weight range between Delilah (78 pounds) and Sampson (97 pounds.)

Chet said he thinks the dog is part Chow....that is nothing to fool with.

I’m very grateful that most days/evenings Chet goes walking with us, still I’m a wee bit  nervous about taking my dogs to where the wild things are.
