All Is Revealed….

April 9, 2012 By Jodi

I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I would explain why I’ve been sort of absent from blogville lately.

I was in Florida for a dear friend’s son’s wedding.  I know, I can’t really believe it myself, me with my terror of flying, but I actually got on a plane and left my babies behind with their dad.

I made sure to have my flight leave later in the day, so I had the morning to take Sampson and Delilah for a nice long walk. I left last Thursday.

But never fear, just because I was gone does not mean I wasn’t thinking of my puppies and all of you.

Of course I wouldn’t be me, if I didn’t have a story (or two) to share with you.

While I was in Florida I took the opportunity to visit with as many people as I possibly could and I had the opportunity to stop by our dear friends, Ron and Mary.

Hubby and I met Ron and Mary many years ago through my aunt and uncle.  Of course since we got Sampson and then Delilah we haven’t really traveled that much, so it has been almost 8 years since I’ve seen them.

When we first met Ron and Mary they had a Rottie named Jessie.   The first time I met Jessie I put my hand out to pet her head and she growled at me.  Which scared the bejesus out of me.   Jessie has since passed over to the rainbow bridge, so imagine my surprise today when I was greeted by Magnum.

Hey, I'm Magnum, what's your name?

Magnum actually liked me.  Once I sat down he came over and sat his head on my lap.

I got me some puppy fix. 🙂 And I also got Magnum’s story…..

Ron was on his way somewhere when he saw this Rottie on the side of the road.  Ron said to him, “I’m going to run my (insert errand here because I can’t remember it) and when I come back if you’re still here, I’ll take you home.”

Well as you know from the picture, Magnum was still there on Ron’s way home.

Ron and Mary took Magnum to the shelter/pound to see if anyone had lost a dog.  Apparently he had already escaped from the pound, but his story was he was found on a road with a collar that had “Knows German Commands” written on it.

Well you know how this story ended.  Magnum is now in a great home and loved very dearly.

There is another story of course, but it’s really long and I don’t have all the details yet….so it will have to wait for another post.

So what’s been happening in your world?  I’m going to do some blog reading in the next few days but if I’ve missed something really important, fill me in. 🙂

Reflections

April 7, 2012 By Jodi

I mentioned in yesterday’s post that Delilah has an obsession with….light reflections.

It started Christmas of 2010 when one of my daughter’s friends stopped by.  He was showing off his watch/cell phone (I think that’s pretty James Bond) and he happened to have a laser, which is when she got hooked.

Immediately after that she spent her waking time staring at the ceiling.  She just couldn’t relax, she was constantly looking around, waiting and watching for the next flicker on the ceiling.  This made me extremely sad because she was constantly on alert, no real relaxing for that girl. 🙁 (Just like her Mama I might add.)

If you walk through a room and the sun catches your watch…..up she jumps, barking at the reflection.

We had to stop eating at the dining room table because the light reflecting off the silverware drove her to the brink of insanity.  It seemed like every minute she jumped up and barked.  Hubby was constantly yelling at her, while I tried to reassure her, finally it was just easier to crate her while we ate.

I thought her obsession had diminished, because I hadn’t noticed it of late.  But then Thursday I picked something up from the table and the sunlight hit it causing a reflection to wiggle enticingly on the ceiling and she was up and at it again. 🙁

Does your dog chase reflections, or flickers of light?  What would you do if (s)he did?

Thoughts and suggestions are welcome. 🙂

Reindeer Speak

April 5, 2012 By Jodi

I’ve been thinking that even though my tagline says, “Life With Sampson And Delilah,” lately most of my posts are about Delilah.  Mostly because……well Delilah needs more work than Sampson does.

Which doesn’t mean that Sampson isn’t adorable in his own right.  So today I thought I’d share a story about something Sampson does that I think is absolutely adorable.

If you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time, you’ll know that there is nothing that is off-limits in terms of subject matter.

That being said, today’s topic is about pooping.

Dog pooping.

When we are out on the trails and the dogs have to poop, Delilah squats wherever she is and poops.

Sampson however likes a bit of privacy.  He will step off the trail, probably about 15 or 20 feet and do his business.   Many times I think he’s wandered off and I call him and look only to find him popping a squat.

Please give me some privacy while I find a nice place to poop.

While I think it’s very sweet that Sampson is so modest, it’s what he does AFTER he poops that causes the most amusement.

After Sampson does his business he gets his run on, like he’s just taken about 5 pounds off.  He zips past us, like he’s light as air, at which point Hubby or I will say, “I pooped, I pooped” in a Rudolph voice.

In Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, do you remember when all the little fawns first get together and Clarice takes a liking to Rudolph?  Rudolph gets all excited and shouts, “She thinks I’m cute, she thinks I’m cute,” and he flies through the air.

Ok, so this post worked in my head, but I’m not sure how it worked as a post.

What do you think was it funny or not?  And please be truthful.  🙂
