What’s Your Pooping Style?

September 11, 2012 By Jodi

There are two kinds of pooping people.

The people who won’t poop unless they’re in their own home. (You know you know people like this.)  They are the people who leave the party early because mother nature is calling.

I had a friend arrive extremely late to a bowling match once, what took you so long I asked.

She had to go home for something, her partner told me.

Oh, she had to drop a deuce?

Her partner laughed, yup.

She’d also run home in the middle of a work day if the urge came upon her.

In. The. Middle. Of. A. Work. Day.

To take a poop.  Even though she could have used any number of rest rooms.

Then there are the people who really don’t care where they poop. They’ll poop in the bathroom at work, in a supermarket or a gas station bathroom, on the side of the road if need be, or behind a building.

The ones who come out of the bathroom at the party waving their arms saying, don’t go in there for a few minutes, musta been something I ate. Does anyone have a match?

While I’m normally not so bold to say hey don’t go in there, I definitely will find a place to go when I need to. (Remind me to share the pee story on the NY Thru way, that’s a classic.)

Yes there are definitely two different kinds of pooping styles.

I would like to take this a step farther and argue the point that dogs have different pooping styles too.

Sampson’s style is more like my friends.  He goes a good 40 to 50 feet of the trail, hunches over and gives you the excuse me, do you mind, I’m trying to pinch a loaf here look.

Many times I’ve called over to him only to say, sorry dude, didn’t realize you were taking a poop.

If you look closely you can see him just to the right of the two white birch trees. He is mostly hidden by a bunch of small trees.

I’ve mentioned before that some people have commented, Delilah is me in a dog’s body.  We are both stubborn, strong-willed, persistent, resourceful and usually get what we want.

It’s no surprise to me then that Delilah has a similar pooping style to mine.

She will go wherever and whenever.

What do you mean sidewalks aren’t for pooping?  Isn’t that why you carry poop bags?  You sure as woof aren’t picking up garbage.

Criminy mom, at least I’m off the trail. Do you mind?

What?  Oh pardon me, I didn’t realize you were going to walk right there, we are in the woods after all.  Excuse me, while I crank a steamer.

Yes, I would say my dogs definitely have two different pooping styles.

Have you noticed your dog’s pooping style? Do you have a shy Sampson or a daring Delilah?

Monday Mischief…Delilah Style

September 10, 2012 By Jodi

Saturday I took the dogs for an  early walk.  I usually make them wait about an hour after walking before serving them breakfast.  I figured while we were waiting I could pop down to the store and pick up some allergy medication.

I can always tell the dogs are tired when I am not greeted at the door.

I got all the way to the top of the stairs before Sampson stumbled out of the bedroom wagging his tail.

Delilah never showed.

That’s the first sign that she’s been up to no good.

I checked the couch – nothing.

I checked the den – nothing.

I checked the Dumbledore suite (hey, my nephew named it that, not me!) – nothing.

By this time my heart was in my throat, thinking she’d eaten something on the walk and was terribly ill.

I raced into the bedroom – nothing.

Then I noticed the bathroom door was closed, but not shut tight.

I opened the door and out strolled Delilah.

It was about half an hour later when I actually discovered what she’d been up to.

What? You don’t use the foofie anyway.

While I was gone she went into the shower and destroyed my foofie.  Don’t even ask what that smear of brown is on the rug, I could only imagine.

Welcome to the Monday Mischief Blog Hop, sponsored by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Blog, Luna and Cynder’s Blog and My Brown Newfies.

Lazy Sunday

September 10, 2012 By Jodi

Yesterday was rainy and humid, with storm warnings posted through much of the day.  Thankfully the storms pushed out the humidity and we woke up this morning to a still overcast, but cool morning.  Presently the sun is shining, the leaves are gently swaying on the tree outside and football is on the TV.

My favorite time of year.

It’s a perfect day to acknowledge a recent blogging award.

Our friends over at DogDaz  gave us the Addictive Blogger Award.  Thank you DogDaz, we appreciate you thinking of us!

Of course, it wouldn’t be a blog award if it didn’t have some requirements to go along with it. 😉

1.   Thank the giver who has bestowed on us this award. Check!

2.   Link back to the blog who gave you the award.  Check!

3.   Talk about why I blog and why I started blogging.  I started blogging because I wanted to improve my writing   skills   I continue to blog because I really love the interaction with my friends.

4.   Post the Award.  Check!

5.   Nominate 10 other bloggers for the award.

Just 10?  Do you know how many blogs I have in my reader?

Don’t feel bad, I don’t either.  I tried to figure it out last night and changed something which took me about 15  minutes to fix.

Ah technology why oh why do you tax me so?

Anyway, I digress, here are the 10 blogs I’m passing on the Addictive Blog award to.

Donna and the Dogs Just Toby – Yesterday Toby (a dog that looks eerily like Sampson) took over Donna’s blog.  I haven’t stopped laughing since.  This is one funny dog. I. Kid. You. Not.

I Still Want More Puppies – Between her stories about Bella, her punny pet names and her Friday linkage, I dare you not to enjoy this blog.

Life With Desmond – It’s always an adventure with Desmond, my favorite story was when he somehow managed to get out of the back yard, causing Lauren to run frantically around the block in her slippers.

Mazzie Takes Manhattan – What can I tell you about Mazzie, she’s living the posh city life (her assistant takes her EVERYWHERE) and she’s sharing it with us.

My Imperfect Dog – Look at Silas, he is just the cutest dog.  His humans are adjusting to life with a dog and all the zaniness that goes with a fearful guy.  They’re doing an awesome job.

My Brown Newfies – Picture Delilah twice the size.  Yup that would be Jen and her dog Sherman (or is it Leroy?) I can never remember which one is her trouble-maker. 🙂

Rescued Insanity – Kristine gives all of us with crazy dogs hope.  The amazing progress she’s made with Shiva makes me forget that her tagline is “Have you ever seen a tornado on a leash?”

Something Wagging – Pamela is learning a whole lot from her Golden Retriever, Honey.  Similar to my learning from Sampson and Delilah, except she’s learning quicker and she a whole lot more articulate than I am.

Thecvillean – This blog is witty.  If you don’t think so, then just check out one of his posts where he responds to his spam.  Priceless.

This Is My Beautiful Life – A new blog I recently stumbled upon, a twenty-something pondering the realities of her life, throw in a bunch of sass and a few swear words and you’re talking my kind of blog. Hilarious!

I have a couple of other awards, but can see this post is getting long, so I will save those for another day.

I hope you enjoy reading some of my favorite blogs as much as I do.
