Droolery by Delilah

August 15, 2017 By Jodi

I don’t know about you, but after the past few weeks of writing posts about my dogs, and their various medical challenges, I find myself looking for something fun and light-hearted. Something that will make us smile or laugh. Unless this post grosses you out, (THAT really is an option.)

If you have a Labrador, you really don’t have to look far to find something to make you laugh or smile.
Labradors are so enthusiastic, and fun, it’s hard to engage with them and not laugh.

I never really noticed Delilah drooling when she first came to us. But as the years have gone on, and she gets food on the reg, her drooling has really increased. She drools practically all the time, which doesn’t say much for us, and the frequency of her treats. 😉 She even drools while walking, which is my pants are ALWAYS wet on one side of my leg.

A lot of times it grosses me out. I have a tendency to wear flip flops almost always in the house,
and I also kick them off when I sit down. If I’m eating and Delilah is thinking she’s getting something, she will hawk right in front of me, which coincidentally is also where my flip flops are.

You see where I’m going with this, right?

I get really grossed out when I get up and slip my foot into a flip flop only to have my foot slip IN the flip flop because she has drooled on them.

But there are also times when her drooling cracks us up. Those times tend to be when her drool forms into the shape of something, or when she shakes her head and her drool looks like part of her attire.

We’ve taken to calling it “Droolery,” and today I thought I’d share some of her works of art.

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you, “Droolery by Delilah.”

Enjoy.

Nose Drool

I would NEVER pierce my nose, but that doesn’t mean I can’t ‘dress’ it up.

Brow Drool

Piercing your brow is painful, why not use a little drool drop instead.

The Crown Drool, (it actually looks like a pendant!)

It’s a collar, it’s a chain, no, it’s Droolery by Delilah!

Big Daddy (it touches the ground) Drool

What’s a good piece of ‘Droolery’ without the right accent piece?

Breast Cancer Awareness Drool (She shook her head in the kitchen and decorated the cabinet.)

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, remember, have your ‘puppies’ squeezed.

Do you have a drooler? What kind of ‘art’ does your drooler produce?

You Make Me Laugh – July 16, 2017

July 16, 2017 By Jodi

It’s no secret, the dogs I live with make me laugh. I’m not sure if it’s because they’re labradors, or it’s just their personalities. These goofy dogs make me laugh, every single day. Problem is, sometimes I just can’t capture the humor in a photo.  So I have to improvise.

The last couple of weeks, we’ve had some super hot, humid weather. I’m not a fan of summer, so hot, humid weather means one thing.

Air conditioning.

We don’t have central air, instead we have a wall unit in the living room, and a window unit in my bedroom.

In the morning, I shut the bedroom doors, and put the window unit on. Around 7:00 pm, I shut the living room air off, and turn on the air in the bedroom, and close the door.

One night last week, I was in the bathroom, and Hubby took the dogs out for the last potty of the night. As I finished up my toiletry, I heard a thump at the bedroom door, which is right outside of the bathroom.

When I looked, there was Sampson, waiting outside the bedroom door. I opened the door, and went inside to turn on the lamp, and when I turned around, there was Sampson, laying on the floor outside the bedroom, but instead of being completely outside, he had the tip of his nose, and his front paws just over the threshold.

Not in the room far enough for me to shut the door, but not completely in the hall either.

Are you going to believe her, or me? Someone this cute can’t possibly do the things she suggests.

When I went back out to the living room, I told Hubby what Sampson had done and Hubby and I laughed and laughed.

Sometimes, he’s such a little dick, but that’s one of the things we love about him.

Caption This Photo

July 9, 2017 By Jodi

Every Labrador Retriever I’ve ever met, has been motivated by food. Like all dogs, some are more motivated by others.

Sampson is only part Labrador Retriever, so while he’s motivated for food, he’s never been one to go into the garbage, destroy used napkins or paper towels that had food on them, run off on a walk to eat bird seed from the neighbor’s yard, counter surf (except for when he was a puppy and went for the butter, and filet mignon, but who could really blame him for that? Not me.)

Unlike a certain Labrador Retriever who has done all of the above, and then some.

Honestly, her exploits are what legends are made of. Every self-respecting Labrador should aspire to eat at least half of what she has.

Okay, so I gave you the background, now here’s the task. While I was searching for a photo for today’s post, I came across this photo.

Now, I already have a caption in mind, but I want to hear what you think, and how you’d caption the photo. And just for a little background, that container she’s holding is what stores their raw food in the refrigerator. I had used the last of the food up, and stuck the container in the sink to wash it. Delilah took it OUT of the sink, and decided to wash it her way.

True story.

I have a friend, who met her current husband in a bar. It went down like this.

My friend Charlotte was visiting from Chicago. So the Hubs and I decided to take her out to our favorite bar for a drink. Hubs was shooting pool, so Char and I sat at the bar. The TV was on, but you couldn’t hear the sound, SO…I supplied the dialogue. But in a funny kind of way, because I like to make things funny. Well, there was a guy at the bar, and he was listening in, and we all were laughing, and the next thing I knew, I was standing up for them at their wedding.

What can I say? I like this kind of stuff….and I thought it might be fun to include you guys in it.

Sound like fun? Good.

Captioning contest will end Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 3:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, and I’ll announce the winner either Sunday the 16th, or Tuesday the 18th.

Oh and to make this a bit more fun, SO…The person who has what I consider the best caption, will receive a $15 Amazon card.

And go!
