This ‘N That Thursday

September 6, 2012 By Jodi

Today we’re joining our friends over at 2 Brown Dawgs Blog on This ‘N That Thursday.  As 2 Brown Dawgs says, This ‘N That Thursday is for times when you want to post about unrelated topics or each topic isn’t quite long enough to make up a whole post.  It can be anything you want, so feel free to grab the button and join us!

Many thanks to 2 Brown Dawgs!!

Blog Re-Direct.

I was so excited to move the free wordpress blog over here to this new site.  I kept it all very hush-hush (with the exception of my cohorts in crime, Kari Pike, Jules Melfi and Jodi Chick) and one morning I simply redirected the wordpress traffic over to the new blog.  If you type in the old address www.jodistone.wordpress.com it will simply bring you here.

That’s great right?

Wrong.

Some of my readers who only get this blog through their e-mails have no idea that the blog moved because that blog is no longer posting!

I’ve decided I’m going to take the redirect down temporarily.

Don’t sweat it, I will continue to post my daily posts here, I will simply be posting a hey we’ve moved post up on the free WP.

All daily posts will continue on THIS website.

I just want to give you fair warning, just in case you are still in the habit of typing in the old blog address.

If you haven’t signed up for the subscription yet, please do, so you won’t miss anything that’s going on here. 🙂

Champion of My Heart

The very first dog that I ever remember being in my life was named Washy. She was a beautiful border collie, who looked a lot like Lilly over at Champion of My Heart.

I know many of you are following Lilly’s story over at Champion of My Heart.  If you haven’t heard about it, Lilly, an eight year-old Border Collie had an adverse reaction to a routine Rabies vaccine back in the beginning of the year.

She’s been fighting for her life since then.  Her human parents are trying desperately to save Lilly and their medical bills are very high, they’ve already spent over $15,000, and there is no end in sight at the moment.

Her current treatment program is costing them anywhere from $200 to $400 MORE per month, in addition to all her other medications and treatments.

Yesterday Sue over at Talking Dogs Forum had a guest post and put Champion of My Heart’s chip-in widget on the blog, I thought that was a wonderful idea, so I thought I’d throw it up here too.

Except when I add the code, it doesn’t show up as a widget.  So I would ask if you are inclined to help with Lilly’s expenses, please pop over to Champion of My Heart.

Please don’t think any amount is too small, because small amounts add up and every little bit counts.  And if you can’t contribute monetarily, I would ask you to share, because you never know who will see your post. 🙂

W. T. F./Whoo Hoo Wednesday

September 5, 2012 By Jodi

Please note this post is not meant to make light of the deeds described here, only to make fun of, ridicule, bully and just plain beat the shit out of the idiots who commit these stupid acts.

I’m chock full of WTF this week.

It’s Time To Ban Pit Bulls In B.C.- B.C.

Another region calling for  BSL.  Naturally they choose a picture of a pit bull that looks about ready to attack for the editorial.   The dog could be reacting to a freakin bear, but that wouldn’t make a difference to these ignorant fear mongers.

When are people going to stop focusing on the dogs and start focusing on the people who abuse and exploit them?

Maybe when they come for their cocker spaniel, because all other breeds have already been banned?

Rogers County Dog Dragged To Death – Winganon, OK

How do you even write about something this horrific?

The sheriff’s office has completed their investigation and apparently has been approached by someone and they now have a person of interest.  The case has been turned over to the District Attorney’s Office.

I hope they find this person and fast, before anymore dogs get hurt.  I’m thinking a bully beat down is just too damn humane for the asshole that did this.  I vote for tying them up by their feet and dragging them behind a truck, oh and then shooting them for good measure.

PETA

PETA’s reached a new low lately.  This photo was posted on facebook and apparently is in response to a No-Kill Shelter’s statement that they would have to start euthanasia due to severe over-crowding.

You can read the entire article here.

I’ve never been a big fan of PETA myself, in fact just recently I received a donation form from them.  It was a questionnaire and I had it almost completely filled out until I realized it was from PETA.  I actually wrote a line stating I would love to donate money for that particular cause, but certainly not to them.  I then asked them to remove my name from their mailing list (I’m still not sure where they got it) and actually put a stamp on it and sent it.

I’m going on record to suggest they change their acronym to People for the Euthanasia/Termination of Animals.

Hey PETA, YOU SUCK.

Seriously, how can people make a difference when assholes like this are continually undermining efforts?

Whoo Hoo

Dog missing after fatal Montana crash found, Missoula, MT

Quite truthfully I never heard this story until 2 Brown Dawgs posted on facebook that she had been found.  Apparently she had escaped the vehicle after it was hit by a drunk driver, and had been on the run for 26 days, before finally being captured by a local woman.

Bella, while a bit on the thin side appears to be in good health otherwise, she will be reunited with her family soon.

And finally, since I’m a little light on the Whoo Hoo section, I thought I’d leave you with this.

Confirming Pavlov’s Theory

September 5, 2012 By Jodi

Did you have a nice, long weekend?  It was a pretty chillax weekend at Stone Manor.

We had a cookout on Sunday, I always love having my family around me, especially the little ones.

Even though we teach our grandchildren, nieces and nephews to respect the dogs, they are dogs after-all and should always be watched.

I don’t want to say the kids are afraid of the dogs, although upon the initial entrance, they tend to shy away.  I think that’s mostly because the dogs are big and rambunctious and eager to greet everyone.

After a few minutes the kids are running around creating chaos and the dogs are looking for a safe place to hunker down.

Normally the kids can do whatever they want when they are at my house, but when it comes to the dogs I am very strict.

I don’t allow them to feed the dogs (unless we are with them) or to go near the dogs dishes when they are eating.

There is no hitting, only nice petting and absolutely no jumping over the dogs.

We do however encourage gentle interaction with the dogs. So imagine my delight when Hubby was preparing the dog’s dinner the other night and I captured this photo of my little niece.

I wasn’t quick enough with my camera to capture her with her arms around both dogs, but this one with Sampson is so adorable.

If you notice, she has her head turned slightly towards Delilah.  I’m not sure if you can see it in the picture, but Delilah was beginning to drool, which had my little niece totally engrossed.

Almost immediately after this picture was taken, she knelt down on the floor underneath Delilah and stared and pointed at the drool.

Auntie what’s that?

That my dear is Delilah confirming Pavlov’s theory.
