Follow-Up Friday

June 15, 2012 By Jodi

For those new to the blog, my follow-up Friday provides me with an opportunity to update or revise a post from the previous week.

You know sometimes you post about something and you need an update but it doesn’t warrant a whole blog.  Or sometimes someone made a comment that really resonated with you.  Yup, Follow-Up Friday baby!

Another Year Gone By – Part 2 – UPDATE

When I write a post I try to ask a question at the end.  I do this because I like developing friendships and I think a sharing of information is one of the ways to do that.

That being said, I wonder if I should have asked what you worried about, because now added to my already semi-long list is:

  • Something happening to the dogs after normal office hours and having to rely on an emergency vet who doesn’t know your pet.  Jan from The Poodle and the Dog Blog.  (Plus I might add, I’ve heard horror stories about the two emergency vets in my area.)
  • An imbedded cheat grass seed.  AND Blastomycosis. (A condition caused by fungus that flourishes in moist soil with an abundance of decaying matter.)  Not to mention the vet thinks Thunder’s bloat was caused by an allergic reaction to a possible insect bite.  2 BrownDawgs Blog
  • MRSA (siriusly, it never dawned on me that dogs could get MRSA!) AND bone cancer.  Jen from My Brown Newfies.

Gosh and I have another 4 months before Sampson goes to the vet!

Just One Day – Author’s Note

I did post a comment on their facebook page asking if they had hard numbers of how many animals were adopted on June 11th, but so far I haven’t seen an answer.  Which doesn’t mean they didn’t answer, it just means that facebook changed my feed and I can’t figure out how to work it. LOL

WTF/Whoo Hoo Wednesday – Author’s Note

I had a great idea from some of the comments left on this post.  It will be the basis for my next Blog The Change post.

I did see a story on my news this morning about school buses  carrying cameras to ensure the children are safe.  Wouldn’t that be a great tool to use to hunt down help find those stinkin losers that toss away or abuse animals?

Oh the task force I would have!!

Thankful Thursday

June 14, 2012 By Jodi

So many times I write my blog with nothing but complaints. 🙁  What can I say, I try to be the glass half-full kind of girl – until I’m not. 🙂

When I look at my life objectively, I really have been blessed.  I have an awesome family, two incredible dogs, a roof over my head, a job and an amazing blogging family.

I am resolving to be more like the dogs and just roll with it, or in it if the occasion calls for it. 🙂

Having typed said that, I have also been very blessed to be honored by some of my fellow bloggers.  (Siriusly, if I’ve typed it, have I actually said it?  Or do I need to say it out loud as I’m typing it for it to count?)

The Sunshine Award

Two Thursdays ago I was awarded The Sunshine Award from one of my newest blogging friends, Jetty over at “Hey It’s Jet Here.”  Sorry for taking so long to acknowledge this Jetty, I do appreciate you thinking of us.

There are guidelines which go with this award and they are as follows:

Link the award to the person who gave it to you.

See above. 🙂

Answer the questions that come with it.
  • Favorite number: 4 or 13 it’s a toss-up, but probably 4.
  • Favorite Non-alcoholic drink: Seltzer
  • Facebook or Twitter:  Facebook, it takes a while for me to catch on to some technologies. 🙂
  • My Passion:  Helping animals.
  • Favorite pattern:  There are patterns? I’m pretty typically a solid color person myself.
  • Favorite Day of the Week:  I’d have to say Sundays, those are generally my chill days.
  • Favorite Flower: Sweet Pea.
Pass it along to 10 people and let them know they have received it.

This is the part I don’t like.  Not that I don’t love all of your blogs, but it is hard choosing just 10, so I’m passing it out to anyone who wants it.  😉 Take the badge and share the love.

You Make Me Shine

THEN…..as if the Sunshine award wasn’t enough, yesterday our dear friend Bassa celebrated her one year of blogging, by creating the “You Make Me Shine Award.”  Celebrating 52 weeks of blogging, this award was bestowed on 52 blogs and I’m so honored to be listed with so many amazing and talented bloggers.

Check out this photo of Bassa, if that doesn’t bring a smile to your face I don’t know what will.

Bassa, thank you so much for sharing this award with me.  Your daily observations on your walks have been a bright spot in many of my days.  I’m thankful for you and your blog and of course the tall person. 🙂

What do you have to be thankful for today?

WTF/Whoo Hoo Wednesday

June 13, 2012 By Jodi

Please note this post is not meant to make light of the deeds described here, only to make fun of, ridicule, bully and just plain beat the shit out of the idiots who commit these stupid acts.

Puppy Found in Dumpster – Winnipeg, Canada

This has got to be one of the cutest little puppies I have ever seen.

Rayne a little shepherd-collie mix was found in the pouring rain in a dumpster.  Considering the size of the puppy and the size of a dumpster, I think we can all surmise that someone threw her in there.

Puppy Found in Trash Can – Atlanta, Georgia

Peyton a little shepherd mix was found by a feral cat searcher, covered in trash, tar and grime in the bottom of a trash can.  Again, considering the size of the puppy and the size of a 55 gallon trash can, it’s pretty apparent that at only four months old this little guy was thrown away.

REALLY?  W.T.F. IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?

Puppies are so easy to place, I know at our local Humane Society puppies come in and puppies go out.  There is absolutely no need to throw a puppy away!  Cripes, at least drop it off at the pound so it has a chance, don’t leave it alone, having to fend for itself.  Do the Humane thing!

If the worst happens and the puppy is destroyed at least it isn’t starved to death.

Give it a fighting chance.

If I were a millionaire I would organize a watchdog group, who would use all resources available to track down the cowards who dump dogs.  And guess what?

Yup, they’d go in a giant friggin dumpster!  Left alone to fend for themselves and eat garbage.

Up yours coward.

Whoo Hoo Wednesday

The whoo hoo part of this post is designed to celebrate the small and large triumphs within our animal community.

Missing dog found alive after southeastern Arizona crash – Arizona

It was a sad story out of Arizona, Monday and Tuesday.  A renowned agility trainer, Elicia Calhoun had a terrible car accident Monday morning.  All six of her dogs were ejected from the car.  A thirteen week-old-puppy was killed at the scene and three of the dogs were taken to the vet but the other two dogs ran off.

I found the story yesterday morning on the No Dog About It Blog and was captivated.  I immediately joined the facebook page that had been set up to help find the two missing dogs and I checked it every five minutes, holding my breath, hoping to hear that both dogs had been found alive and well.

Sadly one of the dogs was hit by a car and killed while the other one, Tobie remained missing.  Elicia checked herself out of the hospital to assist in the search and shortly after 9:00 am (mountain time) the word came down that Tobie had been found and reunited with Elicia.

The picture said it all.

That’s all I have for today, so what had you shaking your head and screaming, W.T.F. or Whoo Hoo this week?
