You Make Me Smile – January 24, 2016

January 24, 2016 By Jodi

You make me smile (or laugh), the sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do on a daily basis, that brings a smile to my face, or a laugh to my lips.

Delilah, the day you climbed on the couch and laid down next to me…..

Chocolate Labrador

Not only did you make me smile, you filled by heart with joy.

Delilah has a habit of climbing up onto our laps at various times when we are sitting on the couch. Typically she just sits on top of us, and is constantly moving and shifting. But this particular morning, which was a couple of weeks ago, she actually settled down and went to sleep.

It made me so happy, because I know how long it’s taken to get her to this point.

So, what about your pets? Do they settle down on your lap or do they wiggle and shift like Delilah usually does?

Wax on, Wax Off?

January 12, 2016 By Jodi

Have you seen this dog?

If you follow me on Instagram and Facebook you’ll have noticed I’ve been posting pictures of Delilah with various sayings, many of them about breakfast.

The story behind the photos is this. Delilah is a food driven dog. And in the mornings, before she’s had breakfast, she’s up my ass. Wherever I go, she’s right there with me.

So when she started squeezing herself into the bathroom, or waiting just outside the door for me, I started snapping photos and adding captions which in my mind sounded like Delilah.

You can fit, look how nicely I squeeze in.

You can fit, look how nicely I squeeze in.

Note, I would be standing between her back and the sink. Yeah, that’s a tight squeeze!

Wax on, wax off.

A couple weeks back I got a tart warmer.

Pretty, isn't it?

Pretty, isn’t it?

I put it in the bathroom.

Do you see where I’m going with this?

So yesterday morning, Delilah squeezed herself into the bathroom and shoved herself between my legs.

And when you're done rubbing my ear, you can fix my breakfast.

And when you’re done rubbing my ear, you can fix my breakfast.

Do you know how hard it is to get dressed with a dog between your legs?

So I did what I’ve always done. I stepped over her.

Except I forgot about the tart warmer, and in the process of climbing over her, I hit the warmer with my arm.

And when I hit the warmer with my arm, I jiggled it hard enough so I wound up with tart wax on my shirt, my pants, the counter and the floor.

I'm pretty sure it will come off the floor pretty easy.

I’m pretty sure it will come off the floor fairly easily.

But I’m at a loss as to how to get it off my clothes. Anyone know how to get wax off of clothes?

What’s In Her Mouth?

January 5, 2016 By Jodi

It’s been a while since I’ve written about something crazy that Delilah did. Truthfully, most of the things she does that makes us laugh (or pull our hair out) isn’t typically caught on film.

Sometimes I don’t have the camera handy and sometimes I have the camera but I can’t take the photo because I have to stop her from what she’s doing.

Hubby and I have talked about setting the Go-Pro camera up, but as of right now, we haven’t done it.

One of the things I struggle with in walking the dogs, is keeping Delilah from eating anything she finds. Most of the time it’s things like crab apples, bread (from the people that don’t know that birds aren’t supposed to have bread!), all kinds of food crap that people drop in the road, or that animals pull out of the garbage and poop.

Yum, yum, what's on the menu today?

Yum, yum, what’s on the menu today?

Most times I can keep her from eating stuff by saying, “Ick” or “Leave it”, but in order to do that, I have to see it first

And she’s fast. She’ll be sniffing about and then all of a sudden she dives and boom, she comes up with a ‘treasure’.

Sometimes she’s slick about it. Which is exactly what happened on Saturday. We left the house and headed up the street. Sampson was in front of me but Delilah was lagging behind.

Something made me turn around. I’m not sure if she gave me a subtle sign, if I sensed it or I just wanted to encourage her to move along, but I turned around and she had something in her mouth.

I wished I’d had the Go-Pro on because she looked like she was smiling.

Yeah, she had a whole (nasty) banana in her mouth.

Yeah, she had a whole (nasty) banana in her mouth.

She was doing her best to munch it down, but still trying to walk at the same time.

I toyed with the idea of snapping the photo first, but I was afraid she’d scarf it down in the time I managed to pull the camera out.

I picked the banana up on the way home and tossed it out in the poop bag. Now it really tastes like shit. 😉

The banana is mild compared to some of the stuff I’ve pulled out of her mouth. What’s the craziest thing you’ve taken away from your dog?
