The Trouble With Bobby

April 11, 2012 By Jodi

Hubby and I own two houses.  We live in one and rent the other (a duplex) out.

This is definitely not the path we would have chosen for ourselves, but it is what it is and so we do the best we can.

The duplex was owned by my grandmother and her brother, then my mother and HER brother and then by Hubby and me.  I basically grew up there, I raised my three girls there, it is the place I think of when I say “Home.”

The neighborhood where the duplex is located is a really nice neighborhood.  The houses are old and many of the neighbors are too.  The trouble with this neighborhood is, it is slowly deteriorating and some trouble makers have been slowly creeping in.

I tell you all this to give you a simple background for the couple of stories I am about to share.  Both stories involve the tenant in the duplex next door to ours.

It was March 2009 when my tenant called me and told me the next door neighbor (Bobby) was dropping his puppies over the five foot fence into my yard so his puppies could run around.  Dropping puppies over a five foot fence.

I about lost my mind.

Of course I called the police.

This a-hole apparently was afraid of the police, so when they knocked at his door, he ran.  The police officer argued with Bobby’s girlfriend who steadfastly denied that he’d been there, insisting it was her son instead.

Eventually Bobby wandered back towards the house and had a conversation with the police officer.   Who told him way nicer than I would have that WE DON’T DROP PUPPIES.  PERIOD.

Nor should he be putting his puppies in our yard.

After asking me if I wanted to buy one of his puppies, it seemed like the conversation was over.

Just as Hubby and I were preparing to get back into our car, a mini-van pulled up and a very attractive black man strode across the street, sticking his finger in Bobby’s face and letting loose with a string of profanities and accusations.

The police officer tapped the transmitter on his shoulder and said, “Send back up.”

The duplex sits on the corner of a street that intersects with another, because of this there is street access from three different directions.  Police cars came in from all three directions.  There were at least seven cars with just as many officers.

Hubby and I looked at each other and each took a giant step backwards.

Apparently when the police had knocked on the door, Bobby had run out the basement and went to his ‘friends’ house.  He busted in and scared this man’s wife.  His ‘friend’ didn’t take kindly to it.

Eventually all of the police officers on the scene settled the situation down and Hubby and I went home.

Shortly after that my tenant reported that Bobby was high on something and creating a ruckus.  She called the police and he was taken out of the house stark naked.

After the naked incident, I heard Bobby went to rehab. We didn’t have anymore trouble with Bobby until last Friday.

Yes, I told you I had two stories about dogs while I was on vacation, but it’s rather lengthy so you’ll have to check back tomorrow…..

What Happens When The Mama Goes On Vacation?

April 10, 2012 By Jodi

When I left for my mini vacation on Thursday, I had planned out  Sampson and Delilah’s exercise routine.  I scheduled my flight for later in the afternoon, so the morning would be available for a nice long walk.

My flight left Orlando early Monday morning, so I would be home in enough time to get them up to the field/woods for a half hour or so before the LaCrosse team over-populated the area.

Friday was a daycare day and Hubby had it off, so that left Saturday and Sunday.  I asked Hubby, “Will you walk the dogs?”

He said he would.

Due to certain circumstances his time was limited this weekend (that’s the other story I have for you, but I’m still waiting for the official report so it has to wait.)

He ended up with walks around the block.

As usual when we walk around the block, Sampson is off leash and Delilah is on the 15 footer.  We always have a leash with us just in case Sampson needs to be leashed.

When Hubby walked them on Sunday night he said there were quite a few people out walking so he leashed Sampson and shortened up Delilah’s leash.  As he was approaching the house with the electric fence he saw the two dogs running towards him.

He said that it actually went quite well, the two dogs approached Sampson and Delilah, one was yellow and one was black, they both were older.  The black one is usually the one who runs back and forth as we walk by.  Hubby said Delilah and the black dog sniffed each other and one of them snapped at the other.  He said he thought Delilah actually got a little ‘pushy’ with the other dog and the dog snapped at her, but he couldn’t be sure.

After the dogs all sniffed each other, the other dogs kind of followed Hubby, Sampson and Delilah.  As they approached their house their owner came out with their collars and the dogs said, “No way.”

They took off.

Hubby said the owner chased the dogs for a while, and then he got in his car to try to catch them.  When Hubby reached our road, he saw the dogs in someone’s yard, the owner pulled into the driveway and the dogs ran off again. 🙂

Two thoughts…..

One : What’s the point of an electric fence if you aren’t using the collars?

Two: I wonder now that the dogs have ‘met’ if they will still be running back and forth when we walk by?

Miss Lily

April 8, 2012 By Jodi

I’m sorry I’ve been behind in reading your recent blog posts, and I’m also a bit behind in responding to your comments on this blog as well.  I will explain all that in tomorrow’s post.

As I mentioned in my Follow-up Friday post, the theory of new souls/old souls is a matter of belief.

Kim from Life At Golden Pines made a comment that reminded me of a story I’d like to share with you.

One of my dear friends, Jo-Anne loves, loves, loves White German Shepherd dogs.  When I first met Jo-Anne, she had two  Chanel and Ciara.  Chanel was a WGS dog.

When Chanel passed, Jo-Anne consulted an animal communicator to contact Chanel and ask Chanel to return to them.   Through instructions provided by Chanel thru the animal communicator, Jo-Anne found Miss Lily.

You can read the entire story here, just as Jo-Anne wrote it.

Now I can’t say whether that story is true and Chanel returned to Jo-Anne as Lily, but I know that Jo-Anne believes she did.  I also know that I would dearly love to have my dogs with for a long, long time. 🙂 So Lily’s story gives me hope.

I have also known both Lily and Chanel and have to agree with Jo-Anne’s descriptions of both dogs.  Although truthfully, I think Lily likes me much better than Chanel ever did.  🙂  I in return, absolutely adore Lily. 🙂

So it’s a quick post, I’m actually passing you off to read another story, and I apologize for that.

All will be revealed tomorrow.

Happy Easter!
