Pet Blogger Showcase – January 21, 2017

January 21, 2017 By Jodi

Hey guys. Thanks for joining me today for another Pet Blogger Showcase. How’s the NEW year been treating you?

For those that follow me on Facebook, you might know I started the year off with an amazing bruise on my face, not to mention struggling with a broken dryer. But thankfully, that’s behind me now, the bruise has faded, and Sears finally fixed the dryer. (They could have replaced it for all the time and parts spent trying to fix it!)

Meanwhile, I spent my Martin Luther King holiday blissfully doing laundry. But, you didn’t come here to listen to me drivel about laundry, did you? No, I’m pretty sure you came to check out the featured blogs in this week’s showcase, so let’s get to it, shall we? Courtesy of Sugar and Spikes Blog Reggie and Bedtime by Clare at Sugar and Spike’s Blog – Anyone who has ever had a cat that sat on top of your head while you were sleeping, or chewed your hair…well you get the idea. This post cracked me up. Ancient Egyptians worshipped cats. This must be something that cats instinctively know, because cats are definitely…their own feline.

The Egyptian Mau : Pharaoh of the Living Room by Roby at The Cubblywumps Cat Chronicles (GAH, I love this name!)  – Remember that paragraph above, the one where I said cats were worshipped by Ancient Egyptians? Well check out the Egyptian Mau. Their history is so interesting and what a beautiful cat!

Goodbye 2016-New Rules for 2017 by Monika from Tails Around the Ranch. – I laughed and laughed at this post. Quite frankly it reminded me SO much of my walks with Thing 1 and Thing 2. And it reminded me, that even though walking them separately takes a lot more of my time, most of my walks with Sampson and Delilah, are much more enjoyable now.

Before I end, and send you hopping along to visit some amazing blogs, I’d like to take a minute to send our heartfelt condolences to Jan and the crew at Wag ‘N Woof Pets, who are currently missing their precious Sheba.  Run fast, run free Sheba.

You Make Me Smile – January 15, 2017

January 15, 2017 By Jodi

You make me smile, (or laugh.) The sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do, that bring a smile to my face, or a laugh to my lips.

Delilah, when you look to me for guidance on our walks, and someone in the neighborhood observes you, and says what a good dog you are…

Good Delilah

You make me smile.

It happened yesterday. A few months back, I discovered that a neighbor down the street, is a man I worked with over 10 years ago.

We passed his house yesterday morning, and he was on his way out to pick up his paper.  We exchanged good mornings, and when we did so, Delilah made to cross the street to say hello. I’m careful about letting the dogs approach folks, unless someone specifically asks. So, I redirected her, and my ex-co-worker asked how old she is. I told him she just turned 11, and then he commented on what a good dog she was, and how beautiful her coat was.

Considering some of the stories, (some right here on this blog) about Delilah. I couldn’t help but look down at her and grin.

I may have given her a cookie…or two….or three. And then I floated home.

You Make Me Smile – January 9, 2017

January 9, 2017 By Jodi

We are a day late on this post, due to our participation in the Go Pet Friendly, Pet Blogger Challenge.

You make me smile, (or laugh). The sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do on a daily basis, that brings a smile to my face, or a laugh to my lips.

Today, my little granddaughter turns six. (Happy Birthday Sweet Girl!)

Because this past weekend was her “Birthday Weekend,” we had a sleep over on Friday night. When the grandchildren are over, or one of them sleeps over, the dog’s schedule gets thrown off a wee bit. Oh, they still get their two walks per day, and of course they still get fed. What I mean by their schedules being off is, when the grandchildren are over, the dogs typically get less ‘quiet’ time for sleeping.

I know the dogs love the kids, because they get super excited when they get here, but typically, there is not a lot of interaction between the kids and dogs.

Sampson is such a special dog, and he’s super protective of the kids. So when the wee granddaughter went to lie down, it was no surprise that someone went with her.

sampson-the-protector

What did surprise me was when the wee one got up in the night to potty, and wanted me to go with her, someone else got up and followed her too. Then he followed her back to bed, where he remained for the rest of the night.

That made me smile.

I would like to mention, that most nights, Sampson doesn’t sleep in the bed. And he has NEVER followed me to the bathroom.

Just sayin’.
