You Watch Us, So We Watch You

June 20, 2017 By Jodi

The other day, my friend Sue posted a photo on Facebook of her two dogs, Shadow and Ducky laying outside the bathroom.

Ducky on the left, Shadow on the right. Photo blatantly ganked from Sue’s Facebook page.

I think I wrote something like, “You watch us, so we watch you.” And then I put the little poop emoji up.

Can someone, anyone, please tell me why WordPress doesn’t have an emoji option? Please!

I really had to laugh at Sue’s photo, because it really hits home for me. Most mornings, Delilah is either right in the bathroom with me, or waiting outside while I get ready for work.  Okay, really…she starts out in the bathroom with me, with her body between my legs, but eventually she gets tired of me climbing over her, so she goes and waits in the hall.

She’s a food driven Lab in every sense of the word. The reason she sits outside the bathroom, is because she hasn’t had her breakfast yet and she wants to make sure I don’t forget that she needs to eat.

When my kids were younger I thought I’d never get to be by myself in the bathroom until the kids were older.

Turns out I was wrong.

As long as you have kids or dogs, you’ll never get alone time in the bathroom.

My Bistro Buddy

June 18, 2017 By Jodi

I’ve mentioned before that we have a small balcony on the front of our house. On cool days, I leave the door open a bit so the dogs can get out and get some fresh air when I’m at work. I love those days when I come home from work and Sampson is sleeping out there, waiting for me.

Oh hello Mama. Welcome home.

On the weekends, when the weather permits, I love to have my morning coffee on the little balcony.  I’ve added a little bistro table, and I bring my iPad, or computer with me.

My little Bistro table.

And just sit out, enjoying the quiet of the morning.

The dogs have already been walked, and most mornings, they just hang in the living room with Hubby, who is usually watching fishing or a movie.

The mornings that really make me smile, are the mornings when someone else joins me.

My Bistro Buddy

Do you have any weekend traditions in your house?

Pet Blogger Showcase – June 17, 2017

June 17, 2017 By Jodi

How’s things been going? Here in the Northeast, Mother Nature is still in her menopausal stage, where she can’t make up her mind as to whether we are having spring or summer. Currently, we are in spring mode but wait a minute, that can change.

But, enough about the weather, let’s roll with my picks for this week’s showcase.

Photo by Alice Patterson via The Daily Dog Tag

Spotlight: Spencer the Goldendoodle at Myrtle Beach, by Beth at Daily Dog Tag – These photos were taken by Beth’s sister, Alice. I did not have the pleasure of meeting Spencer at Myrtle Beach but these photos make me wish I had.  They also make me wish I’d brought my dogs. One of my favorite photos (and memory) is when we went to Emerald Isle, NC with Sampson.

Catnip Nation – A Documentary About Feral Cats and the People Who Take Care of Them, by Lola the Rescued Cat – The magnitude of the Feral Cat population in this country simply astounds me. How can so many people feel that animals are disposable, and simply drop one off somewhere to fend for themselves?  Thank Dog (CAT?) there are so many people out there working tirelessly on behalf of these cats. Hopefully, this new documentary will help bring this societal issue into the forefront, and these cats and their wonderful caregivers can get some much needed support.

They Bring Me Joy, by Kathleen at All Things Collie – This post was simple, and heartfelt, and the pictures accompanying it were so beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes, because I feel the same way about my dogs.
