“This ‘N That Thursday A little of this and a little of that and everything in between…

Mr. Linky

Has anyone had a problem with the linky tool and contacting the owner?

A couple of weeks ago I went into my linky list to manage my FUF entries and I had a little issue.  No problem, I shot Mr. Linky Tools an e-mail asking for clarification and some help with fixing the issue.  I got the form e-mail back saying it’s a one man show who handles everything so please be patient.

That was almost two full weeks ago.  I’m still waiting for an answer to my question.

Have I mentioned I’m not a very patient person?

Does anyone know if it’s possible to cancel your linky subscription and get your money back?

Lagging Behind

I’m still way behind on reading and commenting on some of your blogs.  I have finally given up the google reader and am using Feedly now.  So far I really like it and I find it easy to use.  I’ve also downloaded Reeder on the iPad and hopefully I can catch up soon.

Free Style

The pressure’s on.  Next Tuesday is the last night of Delilah and my Free Style class, we were informed this week that we are expected to do a small routine and we aren’t even close to ready.

So far I’m fairly confident with about four moves, don’t get me wrong, she knows a number of tricks, I’m just not sure how to work them into a routine.

This is our show heel.

This is our show heel.

This is her touch

This is her touch

Okay, I can work the show heel in, but touch?  I’m not sure.  She does know spin and twirl and she’s getting pretty good at weaving between my legs but the last time I tried to get her to jump over my leg she stood on it.

It hurt.

I think I have our song picked out but I’m not sure what we can really put together in terms of a routine.  I may be spending this weekend cramming  like it was an exam. Any of you take Free Style?  Any thoughts on how to throw this routine together?

Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday

A couple of weeks back I began leaking the FUF co-hostess’ name in hopes of making life a little bit easier for those of you who participate.

So without further ado, my co-hostess for this week’s Follow-Up Friday is Jackie Bouchard from Pooch Smooches. I’m excited to have Jackie co-hosting.  Please check back tomorrow for a proper introduction. 🙂

Many thanks to our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs for This ‘N That Thursday.

I’m Detoxing

June 5, 2013 By Jodi

The older I’ve gotten the more aware I’ve become of toxins, both in my environment and my food.  I strive (with the occasional concession here and there) to live a healthy lifestyle for both myself and my dogs.

A few months back I asked YOU my dear and faithful readers if you were interested in hearing about healthy products/options to help you and your pets live a healthier lifestyle as well.  The general consensus was yes.

And Yes, this is one of those posts.

Besides walking every day with the dogs, I’ve also eliminated MOST processed foods.  Of course, it’s easier in the summer months when a variety of local fresh fruits and vegetables are readily available. Now eliminating the junk you put in your (and your pet’s) bodies is great, but think about your daily routine.

We clean our bodies, clothes, homes and cars with products riddled with toxins.  And yes, our liver works really hard to cleanse our bodies of toxins, but it’s one tiny organ being inundated with toxins.

You may remember the product review I did of an all natural organic dog shampoo from Vermont Soap.

My contact at Vermont Soap very generously included a variety of non-toxic health and cleaning products for me to try.  Since I already LOVED their dog shampoo I was quite eager to try some other products as well.

Foaming Hand Soap – I love this stuff, it has a slight lemon scent and foams nicely, leaving my hands feeling clean and smelling good.

Liquid Sunshine Non-toxic Cleaner Concentrate – the label says this stuff can be used for everything! So I tried it on everything.

  • Floors – I tried it on my floors but I didn’t like it.  To be honest though I think I may have had a bit too much cleaner in the water, it is after all a concentrate.
  • Dishes – It worked well on the dishes, it’s application is directly onto the cloth and I’m not used to washing dishes that way. I’m a fill the pan with suds kind of gal, so this wasn’t conducive to the way I wash, but I can get used to it.
  • Toilets – I squirted some of this in the toilet, scrubbed it up and let it sit and it did a great job. Far better than any other product I’ve used in my toilet.

Liquid Sunshine Non-toxic Spray and Wipe Surface Cleaner – This stuff is excellent on counter tops, tables and appliances.

Chemical Free and Heavy Metal Free Tooth Salt – Great for polishing your teeth, but doesn’t do much to help with morning Troll Breath, I do like the way my teeth feel after using it.  But brushing with a salty tasting substance definitely takes some getting used to. 🙂

Tooth Brush Sanitizer –  What’s not to like about a toot brush sanitizer?  You’ve all heard the stories of the kind of bathroom germs that land on your toothbrush every time you flush your toilet.  This is amazing, I spray my toothbrush, jump in the shower and by the time I’m done getting ready, my toothbrush is ready too!

Have you given any thought to the products you use on your person or in your home or on your pets?

Sound off in the comments.

Willy or Won’t He?

June 4, 2013 By Jodi

Dogs N Pawz

Today we join our friends Teddy, Scout and Ash from Dogs N Pawz for the Tuesday’s Tails Blog hop.

As Lisa says, “This is the Blog Hop that features shelter animals. Find a cat, dog, rabbit, etc. at your local animal shelter or rescue and feature them on this Blog Hop! Come join the fun and help a furry friend find a forever home! And while you’re at it, don’t forget to visit the other blogs and share their doggies, cats, rabbits, and all the other animals that need forever homes on your social media sites. Please spread the word!”

Inspired by Kim from Golden Pines, I’m focusing my efforts on helping Senior Black Dogs find their forever homes.

How one wonders does a senior dog find themselves without a home?  Well sometimes it’s as heartbreaking as an owner dying without having made arrangements for their pet’s care.  Sometimes there is no-one in the family willing or able to assume responsibility.

This is what happened to Willy.  Willy is a Senior boy currently at the South Windsor, CT police department.

Willy Willy is between 10 to 12 years old.  Petfinder says, “There is no one in the family that can care for him. He needs exercise and someone to help him through his loss.”

Poor sweet Senior is grieving the loss of his owner, and needs someone to help him through it.  Will you be the one?

Willy or won’t he find a home to live out the rest of his sweet Senior years?

You can help him by sharing this post on your social media sites and asking your followers to share it on theirs.  One never knows when a friend of a friend of a friend……:-)

This is the Tuesday’s Tails Blog Hop, hosted by Dogs N Pawz.
