You Make Me Smile – August 11, 2013

August 11, 2013 By Jodi

One of the big reasons I started this blog was for all the crazy, funny things my dogs do that bring a smile to my face or a laugh to my lips.

Sometimes it’s not easy to write a full blog post about it and sometimes I forget to share.

Some posts will be You Make Me Laugh and others will be You Make Me Smile, but they will all be the silly, sweet, funny things Sampson and Delilah do that help make crazy days just a little bit easier.

Feel free to share what your pet does to make you laugh/smile in the comments.

Sampson, when you run ahead to greet the morning sun rising up over the field – you make me smile.

Your turn, what does your dog do that makes you smile?

Follow-Up Friday – August 9, 2013

August 9, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-Up Friday, the blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Joining me today is none other then my dear friend, Linda from the 2 Brown Dawgs.  Her training posts with Thunder, Storm and Freighter are always entertaining.  Many thanks to Linda for sharing the co-hosting duties this week.

You Make Me Laugh

Kim asked, “Great fun, isn’t it? But don’t you just have to wonder if the horses and donkey are secretly laughing at the dogs because they can’t get to them?!”

It was great fun, the best part was the horses and donkeys could have cared less.  They basically just ignored the dogs.

Caren said, “I think your dogs actually wanted to PLAY with that donkey!”

I think Sampson wanted to play, but I’m not sure about Delilah.

The owner of the llama farm told me there is one donkey that likes to get the dogs in trouble.  He will run the fence and get the dogs all riled up so their owners yell at the dogs.

They have a sign posted warning of this donkey.

At the Southern Tire and Muffler

Jan said, “We had a similar experience in a different town in Virginia when a tire shop stayed after hours in the evening to help out wayfaring strangers. Are all small businesses in Virginia this Heart like a Dog?”

Good question.  I have no idea, but I’m truly grateful to find such wonderful people.

Cupcake said, I love a guy named Cookie! I mean what’s not to love? Unless there was a guy named Bacon…. Or Cheese…. Or Chicken….”

This comment made me laugh.

Dawn said, “Sweet! Heart like a Dog indeed. The world could use more people like that. See if Southern Tire and Muffler has a facebook page and post there. Also, search for the business on Google and give him a Google review. Mail him something. Send Cookie a box of gourmet cookies!

Those are super great ideas Dawn!!  I did try and find a website but not a facebook page.  They did tell me they both work for the fire department and I thought I might call and find out which one and make a donation.

JoAnn said, “That looks like a horseshoe nail, wonder where you got that?”

Well we were out in the country so I imagine just about anywhere. 🙂

Pup Fan said, “I love that you find other people with hearts like a dog wherever you go.”

Awwww

Hey Dude

Thank you all for sharing Dude, I’m hoping he got out.  I saw his name and the title just popped into my head, so I ran with it.  I hope the lyrics helped in some way.

Pamela said, “Maybe you should record it and send it on to the shelter?”

Um, negative Pamela.  That would not help this dog get adopted. 😉

Caption the Photo

Ya’ll are some very clever folks.  Since I can’t highlight them all here I encourage you to go back and read the comments.  This one from Dawn made me chuckle, ”

(whisper) Please not the vet, please not the vet, please not the vet…”

Carol was the one who came closest to what I was thinking.  She said, “Which way dad…ill co-pilot.”

So without further ado, here is the photo, with my caption.

Well EXCUUUUUSE me. I thought you said DOG was your co-pilot.

Well EXCUUUUUSE me. I thought you said DOG was your co-pilot.

The real story?  Hubby was eating a banana and bananas are one of Delilah’s favorite foods.  She was waiting patiently for him to share with her. 😀

This ‘N That Thursday

I was hesitant to go the “Mac route” since I’m usually slow learning new things, but since I’ve been using the iPhone and the iPad, I figured why not.  I’ve also had fellow bloggers tell me it’s awesome, so I guess we’ll see.

Jackie said, “(Just not being about to copy/paste w/ Ctrl C/V would probably send me ’round the bend.) ”

At first I couldn’t figure it out, but then I googled it and it’s actually very similar to windows.  You still hit the ‘c’ to copy and the ‘v’ to paste, it’s just the ‘control’ key that’s different.  I’m sure once I get use to it, it will be fine.

What I’d really like to figure out is how to open a link in a new tab.  That would be kick ass. 😀

That’s a wrap for this week’s edition of Follow-Up Friday, co-hosted by 2 Brown Dawgs blog and Heart Like a Dog.

Computer Issues.

Well we are back from vacation and I finally have my computer issues resolved.  After consulting with my IT guy from work, it was determined my laptop wasn’t worth repairing.  Hubby gave me the go ahead to get a new computer and I joined the Mac family.

Now I’m learning a new system. 🙂

We are also attending Hubby’s sister’s wedding this weekend so there won’t be a lot of time for playing on the new computer.  I hope to get back to a normal blogging schedule next week.

Thank you all for hanging in there with me, I’m super behind on my blog reading too.  Rest assured I’ll be reading all your posts, I just might not be commenting on them all.

Dogs of Blogville Calendar Contest

I know I’ve been promising this for a couple of weeks now, but I’ve been on vacation and Julie’s been on vacation so my plan is to make the announcement and have the contest start next week.

I promise.

Deer

Yesterday morning the dogs were going nuts.  It was garbage day and typically the trucks make Delilah a little crazed.  I looked outside and couldn’t see anything until I looked across the street.

There were deer in my neighbor’s yards.

These are deer. These are deer on my neighbor's lawn. Any questions?
