You Make Me Smile – Star Wars Style

October 13, 2013 By Jodi

One of the big reasons I started this blog was for all the crazy, funny things my dogs do that bring a smile to my face or a laugh to my lips.

Sometimes it’s not easy to write a full blog post about it and sometimes I forget to share.

Some posts will be You Make Me Laugh and others will be You Make Me Smile, but they will all be the silly, sweet, funny things Sampson and Delilah do that help make crazy days just a little bit easier.

Feel free to share what your pet does to make you laugh/smile in the comments.

Yoda 1

Sampson, when you look at me with your ear in the Yoda position….

Yoda 2

Smile you make me do.

Is that not adorable? How do they not know their ears are bent?  If my ear was bent like that, I’m sure I’d know it!

Follow-Up Friday – October 11, 2013

October 11, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-up Friday, I’m delighted to be sharing my co-hosting duties with JoAnn from Sand Spring Chesapeakes, if you don’t know Jo-Ann make sure you stop by and see what Norman, Nellie, Glory and G-Man are up to this week.

Follow-Up Friday-October 4, 2013

Blueberry’s Human said, “The leash around the waist actually helps you so you aren’t jerked around as much – your center of gravity helps keep you on your feet. I’ve used the method with a (at the time) 105 pound lab mix and it definitely works. It does take some getting used to though and at first I would still pick up the slack leash in my hand – but eventually I got confident enough to let it go.”

Thanks for sharing that, I’m still unsure though. 😀

You Make Me Smile

A couple of you asked what was Sampson after?

I’m sure I don’t know, I was too afraid he might find it to let him keep digging. 😀

Of Chipmunks, Reflections and Food

Flea said, “Thank you for the ear worm. Not.”

Hey it was stuck in my head, just consider it passing along the love.

2 Brown Dawgs asked, “I am wondering whether she is trailing chipmunks when she takes off on you in the woods and goes to other peoples yards?”

You bring up a good point but the more I think of it, the more I think no and here’s why.  When she takes off her head is up and so is her tail, it’s not like she has her nose to the ground tracking something.  The last time she went into someone’s yard, she was definitely grazing on something on the ground.

Pumpkin Plumpies

Dawn said, “If you ever get that recipe for Irish cream whiskey, let us know. I was just thinking this morning about how much better my coffee would be if the creamer was really Irish cream whiskey and not just the flavor of.”

You my friend are a girl after my own heart.  I actually googled it and found recipes to make Irish Whiskey.  Whoo Hoo!  I think I might have to try it.

Emma said, “My suggestion would be to use a paw to flatten the cookies.”

That is a PAWESOME idea Emma.

K-9 Kamp Update

Jackie asked, “Delilah – you could train me anytime. I would follow you anywhere for an M&M or two! (We are talking REAL M&Ms right… not some bunny pellet you found in the forest and tried to pass off as a brown M&M???)”

Yes Miss Jackie, we use real M&M’s for training in this house.

Donna said, “You know Delilah, since she slipped, she might need some desensitization work before you can get her attempt rock climbing again. The M&Ms might not be enough, you might to take a step back and start with baby steps, like asking her to touch a rock with her nose or something. (Make sure you get a photo).”

Delilah here:  Donna you made me bark out loud.  I love this idea, the Mama’s been tossing the idea of a puppy cam around.  I think I’ll work on it.

Basil asked, “Poppies??”

It was a reference to the movie, The Wizard of Oz.  The poppies made them sleep and the Mama really wanted to rest.

This ‘N That Thursday

Pam said, “You usually close up your FUF posts with a second thank you to that week’s co-host. Well, after that, maybe include a sentence that says something like, “If you’d like to co-host next week’s Follow-Up Friday, contact me as soon possible for details!” and let it be first-come, first-serve. Surely at least one blogger will contact you every week. Or have you already tried the “I’ll just let them come to me” method before?”

I have never tried it that way, I think it’s worth a shot.  If it doesn’t work out, I’ll let you know.

That’s a wrap to the Follow-Up Friday blog hop co-hosted by Sand Spring Chesapeakes and Heart Like a Dog.  Many thanks to Jo-Ann for agreeing to co-host.

This ‘N That Thursday – October 10, 2013

October 10, 2013 By Jodi

Today we’re joining our friends at 2 Brown Dawgs along with their co-host Ruckus the Eskie, for This ‘N That Thursday.  It’s like the hodge podge of blogging, anything goes.  Grab the badge and play along.

Fall is here.

Despite nightfall coming ridiculously early, fall is one of my favorite times of year.  Days warm enough to be out in shirt sleeves or a light jacket or sweater.

Cool crisp nights with hands wrapped around a hot cup of tea, sitting in front of the fire snuggled up with a blanket your crocheting in your lap and a puppy on the side.  It doesn’t get much better than that.

Until you add in the foliage.  You can’t beat the foliage in New England.

PicMonkey Collage

I took these photos a couple of weeks ago.  At first it seemed like everything was turning yellow.  I felt like I was stuck between the Emerald City and the Winkie Country, (Wizard of Oz reference for those who may not know) so I searched for any color at all that wasn’t yellow or green.   I really like the top right photo that shows the berries on the trees.

We were all kind of in a panic with the leaves beginning to turn so early in the season, but typical New England, give us a little time and we’ll get there!

I got a new camera, which lets me get super close without blurring the subject matter.  If you notice the 2nd picture down on the right, it’s a bee!

Here let me show you.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Pretty cool, huh?  If you want to know more about this sweet little, crush proof, freeze proof, waterproof camera, you can find out tomorrow on 2 Brown Dawgs Blog.  She bought the same camera just before I did.  In fact, it was based upon her recommendation that I bought this camera, so thank you Linda!

Follow-Up Friday

There’s going to be some changes made to FUF.  When I first decided to make FUF into a blog hop, I thought it would be nice to have rotating co-hosts, you know to share the linky love?  But it hasn’t caught on like I’d have liked.  Every week, I’m scrambling around looking for somebody to co-host and quite frankly that’s just one more stress for me.  I’m wobbling on two fronts, either make a permanent co-host (ess) OR eliminate the co-host portion all together.

I’ll let you know once I make my decision.  In the meantime, my co-hostess for tomorrow’s blog hop is JoAnn Stancer from Sand Spring Chesapeakes.

Check back tomorrow for recaps, reviews and responses.

This is the This ‘N That Thursday Blog hop hosted by 2 Brown Dawgs and Ruckus the Eskie.
