Day Ten – Writer's Block

December 11, 2010 By Jodi

The first couple of blogs I wrote seemed to flow pretty easily.  The problem I am encountering is the thoughts that flow so freely and effortlessly in my head, don’t come out the same way when I am typing.

In my head I have strong, coherent, sensible thoughts, but when I try to express them in the written form I can’t quite seem to make them sound the same.  It seems to work just fine when I am writing them down with pen and paper, but when I try to type them up; I find myself struggling.  Perhaps I just have no confidence in my written word, perhaps I am intimidated by the millions of bloggers out there that actually have followers, perhaps I just don’t know how all this blogging stuff works.

But the task that I set for myself is to write each and every day, and I am going to do it!  Maybe, just maybe I can make this work.

Day Nine – Democrats holding out

December 10, 2010 By Jodi

I just want to be really sure I understand this, Republicans refused to vote on the tax cuts because they wanted to ensure that the wealthy Americans (the ones who choose steak or lobster or shall we go to Aspen or the Bahamas for the Christmas holidays) keep their Bush-era tax breaks.  President Obama conceded to the strong-arm tactics of the Republicans and now the Democrats are refusing to vote for the tax cuts.  What is going on?  Have we reverted to kindergarten here?  You won’t do what I want so I won’t do what you want?

If I had my way congress would vote on one issue at a time, no more of this rolling all kinds of issues into one package.  If you have an issue let’s get it on the agenda, have some discussion about it and then vote.  If it passes great, if it doesn’t pass then put it back in the pot and work on presenting or changing it for another time.  No more holding each other’s issues hostage in order to get your agenda passed.

Congress needs to remember who they are working for, and what their real obligations are.  Instead of just thinking of themselves and their wealthy friends.

Day Eight – Santa got canned.

December 9, 2010 By Jodi

So a man who has played Santa at a Macy’s Department store in San Francisco for twenty years got fired because he told a ‘naughty’ joke.  When asked (by adults) why Santa was so jolly, he responded because he knows where all the naughty boys and girls live.  REALLY Macy’s?

This has got to be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard!  After 20 years of playing Santa, because ONE couple complained you fire a guy?  Seriously, we need people like you running the government.  Imagine just how fast Macy’s could clean up congress.

In this world of political correctness, sometimes we take things a little too far, in this instance it worked out for Santa because apparently he got a better paying job where he doesn’t have to be censored.  Who’s next, the Easter Bunny because he asked the chicken if it laid an egg?
