When Opportunity Knocks, the Labrador Will Answer

June 6, 2017 By Jodi

When you have a food motivated Labrador, you have to be super vigilant…because when opportunity knocks, the opportunist will answer the door.

You know…that time you were cooking dinner and getting the dog’s food ready, and you went downstairs to get a loaf of bread out of the freezer, and you heard a thump when you got downstairs, and thought, what has that damn dog got into now, and you grabbed the bread and hurried upstairs only to find the damn dog licking the EMPTY bowl of dog food you thought you put on top of the refrigerator?

Yeah, that.

I know what she wants. She wants me to be sorry. Sorry, I’m not sorry. Give me another opportunity and I’ll do it again

When opportunity knocks, the Labrador will answer the door.

Seriously Silly

June 4, 2017 By Jodi

One of the things I love most about labs, is how damn goofy they are, even when they’re trying to be serious.

Like yesterday. Hubby and I grabbed breakfast and settled in on the couch to eat. Delilah, who many times gets some scraps from the Daddy, also settled in.

Slowly, so slowly she settled herself down…on…a…squeaky toy. All Hubby and I heard was a long, drawn out squeak as she laid right on it.

Of course, she had no idea as the noise didn’t faze her one bit.

Which made both Hubby and I laugh and laugh.

Pet Blogger Showcase – June 3, 2017

June 3, 2017 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Pet Blogger Showcase, and thank you to all of you who participated in the last one, and for waiting patiently to join us this week. I’m still trying to find a rhythm to my blogging, so thank you for hanging in there.

Let’s do this, shall we?

Can you believe this house is home to almost 100 cats? Photo courtesy of Lola the Rescued Kitty

A Haven For Cats on Long Island by Lola the Rescued Cat

A Kitty House!  Animal rescue is near and dear to my heart. Sadly, shelters can be a very traumatic place for some animals. Which is why I LOVE the idea of shelters/rescues having a homelike environment. We have a forty acre sanctuary not too far from me, and they have cottages that house the dogs and cats. I was thrilled to see that the Patricia H. Ladew  Foundation’s rescue is in a house. Oh my gosh. Go and look at the pictures. If I were a cat, I’d definitely want to live there.

It’s proven fact black dogs are hard to photograph, and also proven that a good photo gives a pet a better chance of being adopted. I’d say this guy has a really good chance. Photo courtesy of The Daily Dog Tag

Going to BlogPaws with Alice G. Patterson Photography, by Beth at the Daily Dog Tag

Beth’s website is always a showcase of photos. There are no half-assed photos (like this blog) there. This particular photograph was taken by Beth’s sister Alice, who attended BlogPaws with Beth. Alice doesn’t only photograph dogs either, she takes photos of all pets. The photos are amazing, as you can see for yourself.

On an aside, I was delighted when Beth introduced herself at BlogPaws, it was an added bonus for me. (Shame on me, for not reading her post BEFORE I left.) Still, I’m always open for nice surprises.

Creatures of Habit, Part 2 by Sue at In My Heart 4Ever

Sometimes changes in our lives dictate changes for our pets, but sometimes our pets aren’t open to that change. (I myself don’t care for change, so I totes get this.) Sue’s dogs told her loudly and clearly that they weren’t buying it. Check out her observations. Also, guess who won that one? 😉

Welcome to the Pet Blogger Showcase! This is the place for you to show off your favorite family friendly pet related posts, find other great posts to read, show some love to other bloggers and maybe be featured on one of the host blogs!
