Follow-Up Friday

February 10, 2012 By Jodi

For those new to the blog, my follow-up Friday provides me with an opportunity to update or revise a post from the previous week.

You know sometimes you post about something and you need an update but it doesn’t warrant a whole blog.  Or sometimes someone made a comment that really resonated with you.  Yup, Follow-Up Friday baby! 🙂

Foster Opportunity – Update

My friend who asked about me fostering Nikko assures me that Nikko will be taken care of.   My goal would be to try to get to see Nikko and maybe introduce him to Sampson and Delilah so they could possibly have a play date.  I will see what I can do, but I know I can’t take Nikko for a full year.

I’m Sorry If I Offended You McDonalds – Update

There was certainly a lot of talk and publicity about this ad, not surprising none of it was from McDonald’s.  I checked the internet but couldn’t find one thing besides the initial retraction.  I wish someone would call for a ban on McDonald’s, if only for just one day.  Wouldn’t that let them know loud and clear where people stand?

The next day however, my awesome niece posted this picture on my facebook page, don’t you just love it!

We were discussing the ad after obedience class last night and I heard (not verified) that the ice machines at McDonald’s in CT were inspected and they had mold growing inside them!  And McDonald’s has the nuggets to put down pit bulls!

That’s another Follow-Up Friday wrap, how did you wrap your week?

Book Update:  My book has 10,459 words.

Pep Squad

February 9, 2012 By Jodi

True confession, I always wanted to be cheerleader when I was in high school, problem was that I wasn’t exactly athletic and no one would ever accuse me of being popular, the two criteria in my high school for being a cheer leader.

You may be aware I have two very different dogs.

So when I am ready to go to bed and I say, “Who wants to do pee pee?” I get two very different reactions.

As soon as I make a move to get off the couch, or shut down my laptop, Delilah will jump up from her cozy spot on the couch and head for the door.

Sampson who eats his 9:00pm treat in the bedroom has already called it a night.  At this point I have three choices.

1)  I can just let Delilah out and leave Sampson (honestly he can hold it a very long time, especially if it’s raining.)

2)  I can go in and literally drag Sampson off the bed, where he will reluctantly walk to the back door and casually step outside.

Or I can become a cheer leader, fulfilling my high school dream and getting my dogs to go outside in the process.

It goes something like this, “Who wants to go pee pee?”

Delilah jumps up and we walk to the back door and then I say very loudly and excitedly:

“Do you see it?  Do you have it?  Are you going to get it?  You got it?  Do you have your eye on it?  Ready?  Are you ready?  Ok.  Ready, ready go get it!”

At my first words of “Do you see it?”  Sampson has un-assed himself from bed and rushed to the door, I then finish my pep talk, and it deviates in any  number of ways, but the gist is all basically the same.  There is something outside that you absolutely MUST see.

“Ready, one, two, three, GO!”  I open the door and they burst through the doorway like speeding locomotives.

After I shut the door behind them, I usually chuckle as I pat myself on the back. 🙂  I made the squad!

Book update: I have 10,157 words!!

One Lovely Blog Award

February 8, 2012 By Jodi

Yesterday our dear friend Misty Shores Chesapeakes presented us with the ‘One Lovely Blog Award.’  This award is to designed to recognize fellow bloggers and show appreciation for their work.

Misty thank you very much, we are very proud and honored to accept this award.  If you aren’t following Misty, take a minute to check her out.  Misty’s dog Riva recently had a litter of puppies and Misty was kind enough to document and share the entire pregnancy with us.  It was a truly amazing experience and I personally was on pins and needles waiting for Riva to deliver.  As if a litter of puppies wasn’t enough, Misty decide to keep two of them!

She kept a little female “Misty Shores Maia Echoing Dreams of Ro-Lynns” and a little boy “Misty Shores The Great Titan of Ro-Lynns, I love both of these names because they remind me of a name from Lord of the Rings, one of my favorite movies.

The easy part is accepting this award, the harder part is narrowing my choices down to just a few.  I don’t think there are specific requirements for passing it along, but Misty passed it on to five so I will do the same.

Donna and the Dogs…Donna writes about her dogs (duh, it’s called Donna and the dogs for a reason!)  But she also writes about her adventures in volunteering with shelter dogs.  If you haven’t checked Donna out yet, hop on over and see what Toby, Meadow and Leah are up to.

Life at Golden Pines….I am in love with this blog.   I don’t really know how many dogs Kim has, but her heart and home is always open to fostering another, the kicker is that many of these dogs are seniors.  I say it many times in the comments but Kim is an angel for so many of these dogs.  Kim is my inspiration for fostering and when the time comes and I am ready, I will be opening my heart to seniors too and it is all because of Kim and her blog.

Life with Sophie…Patty works really hard with her black lab Sophie, they do fly ball and agility just to name two.  I love reading about all the fun things they do, and besides Sophie is a black lab, the only color lab I don’t have. 🙂 (OK, technically Sampson isn’t a yellow lab, but he’s in the right color range.) 🙂

Married with Dawgs…Sarah is a wife, she owns her own business and she has three dogs!  If that isn’t enough, she is teaching a new trick each month to her dogs.  Go on over and check out what Maggie, Sadie and Hurley are up to.

Oh, I couldn’t figure out how to get this picture on my side-bar, so here is the picture of the One Lovely Blog Award.

One Lovely Blog Award

Thanks again Misty, we really appreciate you thinking of us. 🙂

Oh, and if you haven’t left a comment here, time is running out!!

Book Update: Still the same as yesterday.
