Brentwood Home Dog Bed – Review and Giveaway

November 30, 2017 By Jodi

I hated to acknowledge it at the ages of 7 and 8 1/2, but now at almost 12, and 13 1/2; there’s no more living in Denial land.

I have Senior dogs.

And while it’s a blessing to have old dogs in your life, it’s also a bit sad to watch them adjusting to the everyday changes in their bodies. Sampson has had two knee injuries and one knee surgery. While I suspect he’s had arthritis in his front paws for a while (over compensation for those bad knees) the knee and hip arthritis has only been diagnosed in the last couple of years.

We have Sampson on a protocol of supplements and pain meds that seem to be working for him. But since Sampson does an enormous amount of sleeping, I really wanted to get him an orthopedic bed.

Enter Brentwood Home Orthopedic dog beds.

You guys, Brentwood Home Orthopedic Dog beds hit all my criteria.

  • They are made in the US (California to be exact).
  • They are made with Pet Friendly, Non-Toxic Materials (CertiPUR-US certified foams that are safe to sleep, and chew on. (Not that I have any bed chewers mind you).
  • The design is classic, so it works with any décor.
  • The fabric is furniture grade with lock stitching to hold up against tug-of-war, messy treats and scratching. (Yes, I DO have two scratchers in the house).
  • The cover is quilted and not only removable, but washable as well.
  • Oh…and those CertiPUR-US foams I mentioned? There are two layers…the top layer is memory foam, while the second layer provides the orthopedic support base, these foam layers are protected by a waterproof liner, in case of any type of liquid accident.

Choosing the right size bed

So…I made a mistake when I was ordering the bed, and I did not measure the beds we have now vs the size of the beds on the Brentwood Home website, and I ordered an extra-large, (a large would have worked just fine.) Let me tell you, the bed is HUGE.

Here you see Sampson ignoring the new bed…but you can also see how large (and pretty) it is.

It is fully the length of a love seat, but it works for Sampson because he is a stretch out type of dog, vs Delilah who typically curls up. It’s also large enough for one of Sampson’s peeps to snuggle up in the front of the TV or fireplace and cuddle on a cold winter’s night.

I joked with Hubby that on those super cold winter nights, I might bring my blanket out and cuddle up in front of the fire…on Sampson’s bed. It’s that comfy!

Here we see Delilah curling up and checking out the new bed. Sampson has decided he’ll humor his human by resting his head on the bolster.

Brentwood Home has two different styles of dog beds, so which bed is right for you?

Well that all depends on what your pet prefers.

The Runyon has the bolsters on three sides, perfect for using as pillows, or for the pets who like that additional security.

The Griffith has no sides, for those guys who like to stretch out, or hang their heads over the side.

What about color choices?

There are three color choices listed on the website, Sandstone, Charcoal and Mocha. The color we chose is called Raven, (it is like a midnight blue with a gray/white criss cross pattern), but it’s not listed on their website yet.

What if I’m like you and order the wrong size?

Well if you forget to measure, or just misjudge the size, Brentwood Home offers free returns within 30 days.

Warranties and whatnot

They also stand by the quality of their products, so the bed comes with a 3-year warranty.

AND…if something DOES happen to that cover, (you HAVE a chewer or a scratcher), you can purchase the cover separately. Isn’t that awesome?

After taking his sweet time, Sampson has decided the orthopedic bed by Brentwood Home is a perfect place to stretch out, and rest those tired bones.

Want a Brentwood Home Bed for your pet?

Good news peeps. We are giving away one bed, winner’s choice.

But Jodi, I don’t want to wait!!

Can’t wait to see if you’ve won? You can purchase your own bed right now, and get a 15% discount by using HEART15 at checkout! Code is good for 15% off the Runyon and Griffith pet beds. 4 Gifts 4 Pets – Giveaway

November 27, 2017 By Jodi

Today we’re participating in the 4 Gifts for Pets blog hop, hosted by Jodi Chick from Kol’s Notes, and Bryn Nowell from A Dog Walks into a Bar.

A bunch of fabulous bloggers are joining together to offer you a chance to win some fabulous prizes consisting of:

A CleverPet Electronic Dog Puzzle

PLUS 1 of 3 gift cards $200, *$100,  *$50 to the winner’s choice of either Amazon, Etsy or PetSmart

I don’t know about you, but I spend WAY too much money around this time of year, which is why the 4 Gifts concept really strikes a chord with me. If you’ve never heard of the 4 Gifts idea, here’s the down and dirty. Instead of overindulging your children or in this case pets, this year choose one gift from each of the following four categories.

Want, Need, Wear, Eat/Read (for kids you would choose from the READ category).

I thought it would be fun to turn this post over to Delilah and see what her answers would be. Hang on, it could get ruff.

Bout’ time I got a shot at this.

WANT– I WANT the Clever Pet Hub from Clever Pets. For real. I mean first of all, I AM a clever pet, duh and secondly, the Mama doesn’t walk me nearly enough. I’m bored, I mean really bored and this Pet Hub is the ultimate in puzzle games. I mean, not only can use the touch pad and have all the treats I want, but there is a light game too! I love lights, I could chase those things all day. **hint* Just don’t tell your human there’s a phone app to control the puzzle, they could really put a damper on your fun.

NEED – I NEED a tick tag from Only Natural Pets. Ticks were horrible in the northeast this year and the Mama picked more than one off me, and also off Sampson. Ticks are nasty, nasty insects and they leave marks on my sweet pink skin. Don’t get me wrong, she uses a natural tick spray, but DOG! I’m here to tell you that Sampson and I HATE that spray. Someone, please give the Mama a kick in the pants for me and tell her to get me one of these right now!

WEAR – This is an easy one, last year Mama won a TeckelKlub coat from a contest at A Dog Walks into a Bar. Did she think of me? NO! NO, she got the coat for Sampson, and while yes, it’s true a coat that fits me won’t necessarily fit Sampson, her rationale was that Sampson’s coat, while a bit big, would fit me. Well I’m putting my paw down, this dog is NOT having any of that!! Besides the size, Sampson’s coat is a reddish color, and while I admit, he does look sharp in it, PURPLE is my color and I want my OWN TeckelKlub coat.

EAT/READ – She’s going to let me choose EAT or READ and really, this is a no-brainer (no surprise there Mama no-brain. I choose EAT! I love to eat, and I’ll eat just about anything, but right now, what I’m really craving is Jones Natural Chews Chicken Barkers. Honestly, the Mama was so excited to find Jones at our local feed store, and she picked up some chicken barkers. Then she put them in the pantry and every time she opens that door, either Sampson or I try to pull another one out. DAWG…that stuff is GOOD!! More Mama more, I want more Chicken Barkers.

Social Media Bonus – Every day of the contest, we’ll be sharing a DAILY BONUS word or phrase on Facebook. Find the DAILY BONUS WORD, and come back to this post and claim FIVE extra entries.

The 4 Gifts for Pets Giveaway hop is sponsored by CleverPet. All gift card prizes were funded by contributions from the participating bloggers. The opinions and ideas in this post are my own and are uninfluenced by any other person or business. The individual sponsors are responsible for their giveaway prizes including shipping.

Stuff I have to tell you – No purchase necessary. Giveaway is open to US and Canadian residents, except Quebec and where prohibited by law. Canadian winners will be required to answer a skill testing question. Canadian winners may be required to pay duty and/or taxes on shipments sent into Canada which are beyond the sponsors control and at the sole discretion of Canadian Customs. Giveaway will run from November 27 through December 8, 2017 at 11:59pm PST. Winners will be randomly selected and notified via email. Winners will have 72 hours to claim their prizes; failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the prize. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest do not sponsor, administer, or endorse this promotion. Participants must read and agree to Gleam’s Privacy Policy before entering and participating in this promotion.
Each participating blogger paid an entry fee which will be used to fund some prizes. Grand prize was provided by CleverPet.

Each of the images will bring you to another fabulous blog, where you’ll get additional chances to win. Good luck!

You Make Me Laugh – November 26, 2017

November 26, 2017 By Jodi

I was looking through photos to choose one for today’s post when I ran across this one.

I took it last year at one of the neighbor’s houses. They had their fence decorated for Halloween, and I thought it’d be cute to photograph Delilah in front of the Zombie Crossing tape. I sat her down and was snapping some pictures when she put her nose up and took a good sniff.

I thought it was funny because it seemed like she was sniffing the air for Zombies, and that made me laugh.

What has your pet done this week that made you laugh?

You make me laugh, or smile. The sweet, funny, loving things my dogs do that puts a smile on my face, or a laugh to my lips.

Come back tomorrow when we kick off our Fabulous Four Gifts for Pets Giveaway!
