Spring Fever

March 11, 2013 By Jodi

Delilah has spring fever.

That’s the only explanation I have.  If I went back through my posts I’m sure I’d discover that last year and the year before at this time, Delilah was getting into mischief.

Technically it’s not like she contains her mischief only to the spring, but it just seems, she’s more active at this time of year.

Our walks normally run about half an hour during the week, and I try to increase them to over 45 minutes on the weekends or on a day off.

Last Wednesday I came home on my lunch and took the dogs for a half hour walk in the woods.  I gave them each a treat and left them to sleep on the couch until I returned home shortly after 5:00 PM.

It worked in my head.

Once I walked in the door however, I immediately noticed that all had not gone according to plan.

IMG_4251 I KNOW I didn’t leave that door open or that trash on the floor.

IMG_4249 Nor did I shred a Pop Corners bag and leave it on the living room floor.

I looked at my dogs.

IMG_3810 I ain’t no snitch, I didn’t see anything.

Delilah was surprisingly quiet, sitting off by herself and not interacting with me.

IMG_4252 Why do you always look to me?  Is it because I’m a rescue dog?

No Delilah, it’s because you’re a mischief-maker and this is the Monday Mischief blog hop, hosted by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog and My Brown Newfies.

Simple Mathematics

March 10, 2013 By Jodi

Here’s a simple equation for a Sunday morning.

Jack ‘N Jill party on Saturday night + move the clocks ahead + sleep-in Sunday for the Mama = ?

If you answered, one bored, destructive lab give yourself a gold star!

I’m not really sure how, but I managed to sleep until just after nine o’clock this morning (hence the late post.)  Since I really need a coffee and something to eat before I walk the dogs, I settled down on the couch to write my post and make sure I was awake.

Delilah was bored. (Never a good thing.)

IMG_4337 This ball is evil, it must be destroyed.

IMG_4345 So is this stuffed Frisbee.

IMG_4343 There, the evil toys have been destroyed, you are safe now Mama.  Please take us for our walk now.

Yes my sweet, I need to eat something first, walking through all that snow is exhausting.

How does your dog let you know what (s)he needs?

I Hear You Knocking

March 9, 2013 By Jodi

One of my all time favorite author’s is Laura Ingalls Wilder.  I would read her books over and over again.  So you can imagine with this latest round of snow, I’m beginning to feel like I’m stuck in the middle of the Long Winter.  Except we’re not stranded on the prairie, relying on trains to bring us food, we’re not burning twisted straw to heat the house and we’re not eating just bread.

Okay, maybe the Long Winter is a bad analogy.

I just want to go on record as saying, I’m done with winter and I’m ready for spring.  Thursday afternoon it started snowing and it snowed until yesterday around 2 pm.  Twenty-four hours of snow.

Again.

This latest winter storm was named David.  Which coincidentally is the name of my favorite ex-husband. (Technically he’s my ex-work-husband but even still, I like him better than my real ex-husband.)

Sorry, I digress.

If I had to guess, I’d say we got at least another foot of snow.

Hubby cleared the driveway before leaving for work yesterday morning, but by the time I came home at night we had at least 8 inches of snow on it.

I gunned the car and stuck the landing but knew I’d never be able to get out or in again.  So Sampson, Delilah and I walked up to the park.

Our Park It wasn’t looking good from this vantage point.

I don't know I don’t know mom, it looks pretty deep.

Nope Nope, not going to happen.

If you like our page on facebook, you may have seen the video I put up of Delilah trying to get into the park.  (If you don’t like us, would you mind helping us out and popping over to click the like button?)

As we walked away I heard the park sing, “I hear you knocking, but you can’t come in.”

We had to be content with a walk about the neighborhood.

Rocks 1 Check out the cool boulders.  These are actually in someone’s front yard.

Sunset One of the benefits of a storm is the beautiful sunsets when it’s finally over.

Sunset1

Snow Just to give you an idea of the snow accumulation.

We’re digging out again this weekend, what are your plans?
