To Sampson, On Your Thirteenth Birthday

July 30, 2017 By Jodi

Hey Bubby,

I can’t believe it’s already been thirteen years since you were born. I remember so vividly the day Auntie Mindy came to work and told me you and your nine brothers and sisters had arrived.

Puppies!

Little did I know, this cute little puppy would turn the world as I knew it, upside down.

Golden Lab Puppy

Baby Sam

Your came into my life at a time when I was lost. When I needed a purpose in life, and you gave that purpose to me. I’m not sure I could ever find the words to thank you for that.

You set me on a journey of self-realization, and self-discovery that continues to this day. YOU made me want to be a better person, and it’s something I strive for every single day.

When I come home and you look at me with those adoring eyes and thumping tail, my heart fills with SO much love and joy, I feel like bursting.

Sampson and me.

Because of you, I now know what a heart dog is. And boy did you grab my heart and wrapped it right around your paw.

But your magic doesn’t stop with me. You touch the hearts of so many people, and are always ready with a wagging tail and ‘rooing’ voice, to welcome strangers as new friends.

You’ve been an amazing companion to me these past thirteen years, and I’m so grateful to have you in my life.

I love you to the moon and back.

Love, “The Mama”

Some of my favorite photos of Sampson.

zzzzzzzzzzzz
If I keep my eyes closed, I can pretend this never happened.
I love this profile!

Please keep the typing to a minimum…I’m trying to sleep.

You were distracted by my cuteness.
Smiling Dogs
That’s a grin if I ever saw one!
Muddy Golden Lab
It was after one of his jaunts when he came up to me with this leaf stuck to his head. That’s a happy dog right there.

Ocean swimming
Sampson’s not much of a swimmer, so I held him.
What lies ahead
I don’t know dad, seems to me it’d be better to use the bridge.
Sampson’s first Christmas…card. Or rather my poor attempt at it.

Dear Dog there HAS to be a treat in this for me.
The dog love of my life.

The Long Goodbye

July 23, 2017 By Jodi

I mentioned in a previous post, how nice it is to come home to find one (or both) of the dogs waiting for me on the balcony, or by the window.

Don’t leave us!

The flip side to that, is the heartbreak of looking up as you’re preparing to leave you house, and seeing a pair of sad little eyes watching you leave.

Breaks my heart every time.

Yesterday I had to run out for dog food, and I looked up and Sampson was staring at me from the window.

It makes it awful hard to leave.

The Cat Lounge-Community Challenge, Week 10

July 20, 2017 By Jodi

Week 10 of Kathleen Gage’s Community Challenge

You can’t talk about the BlogPaws community, without mentioning the Cat Lounge. If you’ve never been to a BlogPaws, I’m not sure I can explain…the Cat Lounge. But I’m going to give it a try.

The cat lounge is not a place where you’ll find cats lounging around, although they totally could.

What you will find however, is an awesome display of cat themed art. Items like this beautiful photo.

“Jumping Tuxedo Cat” by Stacey Young

You’ll also find some of your favorite bloggers, making some cat themed crafts.

Some of the awesome cat (and dog) bloggers, in the cat lounge. (Photo by Paula Gregg, shared on Maggie Marton’s Facebook page. I did get Maggie’s permission, but I don’t know Paula Gregg.)

The cat lounge is also where the Honor flags are. I can’t say I actually KNOW what an Honor flag is, but based on the name, I think we can all take a pretty safe guess, that it is a flag honoring a pet that has gone to the bridge.

Perhaps the neatest thing of all about the Cat Lounge, is that every item in there, has been donated to the lounge, and every item in the lounge, is given away the last day of the conference, so no-one has to ship or carry it home.

Ms. Young was one of the folks who contributed her work to the cat lounge.  I’ll let you in on a little secret, I may have picked up one of her photos for a Christmas gift for one of my daughters. 🙂

The cat lounge seemed like a real cozy place, I think I’ll plan on spending some time in there at the next BlogPaws.

Oh, and before I let you go, I need to announce the winner of the caption the photo contest.

My caption was…”Excuse me mom, but this dish seems to be empty.”

You guys did not make it easy at all. They were all so good, but the one that really made me laugh was from Meagan Maher who said, “Fine. I’ll do the dishes again.”

Thank you all for playing along, and many thanks and congratulations to Meagan!  I’ll IM you to get that Amazon card to you.
