Creative Capture Award….Day Three Hundred, Fifty Eight

November 23, 2011 By Jodi

You may have noticed a new badge in our sidebar called “The Creative Capture Award.”   This award was designed and presented by our dear friend over at Just Ramblin‘.

Here’s what she has to say about this award:

I also wanted to let you know that I have been enjoying your blog for quite some time now as you know : ) and really enjoy seeing your photo captures of the moments you choose to share. You deserve the Creative Capture Blogging Award. Please enjoy the fact that someone out here in the blogosphere really does see and enjoys your photo captures of the moments you choose to share. Stop by to get your badge if you would like to show others your award status. Keep blogging, keep photographing, and keep sharing. Congratulations! : )

I’m really quite honored by this because I do travel around blogville and I think many of you take way better pictures than I do!

That being said I wanted to live up to the award, so tonight I tried to capture…..

Delilah fresh from her bath at the Mellow Mutt, looking all cute in her bandana.  Oh, and I also captured Bob lurking in the background, and Hubby’s sneakers and Sampson’s mat.

Then in the midst of my Thanksgiving baking, we tried out my new apple peeler/corer/slicer and we had a little adjustment to make.  The first apple didn’t peel so I tried to feed the apples to the dogs.  Delilah took every bite I handed to her, Sampson turned up his nose.

So Hubby put a little peanut butter on the apple and I tried to capture the moment of Sampson eating his apple.

Thank you again to Just Ramblin’ for this special award, and if you haven’t checked out her blog yet, head on over and meet her and her pups.  She always has beautiful stories and her pictures are amazing!

Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Pig's Ears….Day Three Hundred, Fifty Seven

November 22, 2011 By Jodi

Yesterday when I picked the dogs up from daycare I stopped for a quick chat with Sara and Sue  (Sara’s mom.)  The Mellow Mutt has these awesome little dog hitches attached to the wall.  If you’ve never seen or used them, let me tell you they rock.

The hitch is designed so you can hook the looped section of your leash onto the hook and you have your hands free, but your dog can only go to the end of their leash.  I use this hook a LOT when I pick up the dogs and need to keep Delilah from shopping. 😉

Sampson usually walks around, checks out all the baskets and goes to wait by the door.  As excited as he is to go to daycare, he is just as ready to go home when I get there.

We had been chatting a few minutes when Sue said, “Look at him.”

I looked over, and yup there he was standing by the door looking out.

Sue said, “No, look at him.”

As I looked again, Sampson looked back at me and wagged his tail and then I noticed the pig’s ear in his mouth.

While we were chatting Sampson had gone into the office and taken a pig’s ear, that Sue’s dog, Mabel had left on her little bed. 🙂

Sue very generously allowed Sampson to keep the ear and she gave one to Delilah too!

So Sampson lay down on the floor and enjoyed his treat before we went home.

Delilah wouldn’t lie down, instead she ate hers standing up.

Silly dog.

How Can I Help?…Day Three Hundred, Fifty Six

November 21, 2011 By Jodi

Sampson did something very cute today and I was formulating the post in my mind, but I’ve changed direction and will share that story tomorrow.

Tonight, there are two dogs that are in desperate trouble and really need all the help they can get.

In Minnesota there is Lady, a foster dog of one of Blogville’s own, Mel Freer.  Lady slipped her collar on Friday night and has been on the run ever since.  To complicate matters, Lady is a fearful dog so anyone that sees her and tries to catch her may only succeed in scaring her further.

Lady

If you need more details, you can find it here.

The other dog in desperate need of your help tonight is in Connecticut, Sasha is a 3 year old Labrador Retriever/Hound Mix.

Sasha’s story is a sad one, living on her own in the streets for at least six months, she was finally captured but she went unclaimed at the pound. Her original rescuer rescued her again from the pound and housed her at the shelter where she keeps her rescued dogs.  Unfortunately the shelter can no longer keep Sasha and she must be out of there by December 1st.

Sasha

Sasha has been evaluated and is an extremely sweet girl, however due to her time on the streets she needs to go to a quiet home with a fenced in yard as she is a runner.  She will also need to learn some coping skills, Our Companions will provide training for Sasha.  Free. Of. Charge.

I know what you’re saying, “I don’t live in Eagan, Minnesota or in Connecticut” so how can I help?”

We need to get the word out about these two special girls so here is how you can help.  Share the links.

Either share this blog, or go to Mel’s blog and Petfinder and tweet it, stumble it, facebook it, e-mail it whatever you can think of.  Then ask other people to do the same, the more people we have talking about this,  the better chance we have of helping these two beautiful girls have a wonderful and loving Thanksgiving.

Thank for reading and thank you for sharing.

If you would like more information about how to find a lost dog, click here.  You might want a cup of tea and box of tissues with you because it’s a beautiful story.
