Why We Love Emily

August 30, 2016 By Jodi

Emily is one of the vet tech’s at our veterinarian’s office. Even before she agreed to help me out by walking the dogs while on vacation, she’s one of our favorite techs at the office.

There are SO many reasons WHY she’s one of our favorites, but one of the biggest reasons is she cares about the comfort of my dogs.

Now, I’m not saying that the other techs DON’T care, because I know they do, but Emily, Emily takes that extra step to help my dogs feel comfortable.

For instance, when my dogs go in for a procedure, Emily has been known to cuddle in the crate with them. 🙂 A girl after my own heart.

And when Sampson was in a couple of weeks ago for a check up, we went in to the exam room, only to discover that Emily had made a comfy spot for him.

Comfy at the Vet

Yup, she brought a dog bed for resting and a yoga mat to help keep him from slipping.

If that weren’t enough, the text message I got from her the morning I left sealed the deal.

After I told her where I left her note (with instructions of course!) this is what I got.

Emily

That makes a Mama feel better!

How do you do when you leave your pets? I’m a damn wreck!

A Little Blog Housekeeping

August 25, 2016 By Jodi

Remember that vacation I mentioned a couple weeks ago when I was looking for a dog walker? Well it’s here.

I’m excited and anxious all at the same time. Some of it is because I’m leaving these two.

Just us on Instagram

You’re leaving? Did you clear that with us first? Really, you need to get your priorities straight Mama.

And the other reason is…I’m flying and I’m really afraid of flying.

But I’m not telling you this so you can reassure me. (But I don’t mind if you do, I really don’t.) I’m telling you this because I want you to know that I more than likely will not be around to read and comment on blogs for probably the next week or so.

I’ve got a post ready for Sunday, so you don’t forget about me. 🙂 And I want you to know that I won’t forget about you either! If anything exciting happens in your life, or anything happens I need to know about, instant message me on Facebook, because it may take some time until I’m caught up on my blog reading.

Also, all of you who participated in the Pet Blogger Showcase, thank you!  And, I am sorry, but I will be late reading your entries, but don’t worry, I will be back (and ready) on the 1st Saturday in September with my picks for that week.

Also, there will be no Follow-Up Friday this week. But I did want to send a big shout out to Taryn and all the rest of you who recommended canine massage for Sampson’s leg. I think I may have found a therapist in my area, and I’ll work on that right after vacation.

In the meantime, please keep safe travels for me in your thoughts and prayers. And pray that Hubby and Emily can handle the fort while I’m away. 🙂

Finding the Beauty in Nature

February 23, 2016 By Jodi

When I first changed our morning walk to 5:45, I admit I really didn’t care for it, especially during the winter months. I mean, who likes getting out of a nice warm bed, when it’s dark and cold?

But I’ve really learned to love these early morning walks, particularly now as sunrise begins to arrive earlier and I’m walking the dogs separately.

Sampson’s walk is the first walk and during this time, I still get to see the inky blue/black of the night sky sprinkled with stars, along with the beauty of the setting moon.

The moon setting on Sampson's walk yesterday morning.

After Sampson’s walk I switch him out for Delilah. And that’s when I get to see the beauty of the sun rising.

A little beauty to start the day.

A little beauty to start the day.

Sunday I was up earlier than usual and decided to walk the dogs. Because the weather has been so mild recently, I was treated to a little music on our walk.

I’m not really a ‘bird’ person, I mean I can identify certain birds…robins, blue jays, chickadees, humming birds and of course this guy.

Thank you for the sweet song buddy.

Thank you for the sweet song buddy.

Typically birds fly away from us, but this guy hung in there long enough for me to snap a photo.

Finding the beauty in nature makes for a great start to my day.

Speaking of beautiful things…

I’d like to send a giant thank you out to our friend JoAnn at Sand Spring Chesapeakes. A couple of weeks ago she had a little contest to guess the number and sex of the puppies Miss Glory was going to have. I was one of two people who guessed right! (6 girls and 3 boys). The prize was supposed to be a set of her fabulous, hand-made paracord leash and collar. I told her what color I wanted and promptly forgot to measure Sampson for the collar.

Instead of harassing me and delaying the prize, sweet, sweet Jo-Ann sent me the leash and swapped out the collar for a bag of Beet Treats. (These treats meet all my requirements in a treat! JoAnn, you know me SO well.) When I nipped over to her blog yesterday, I discovered why the bag was opened and treats lose in the envelope. Yup, it was G-Man. I guess Delilah didn’t want to be outdone by the G-Man so while Sampson and I were out walking, she chewed up a bit of the card and envelope that came with the prezzies.

The leash is fantastic, I used it yesterday on Sampson’s afternoon walk. Doesn’t it match his harness beautifully? It’s light-weight, thin and a wee bit stretchy. Perfect for coiling it up in your pocket on a nice slow walk.

What's black and gold and red all over? No, that doesn't work. ;-)

Me: What’s black and gold and red all over? Sampson: That doesn’t work here Mama.

I didn’t realize the camera was on the ‘Magic’ setting, but I like the way this photo turned out. Isn’t it beautiful? 😉

Where do you find your beauty?
