The Path Less Taken

February 17, 2013 By Jodi

When we got up yesterday morning it was snowing.

Again!

A slow, lazy snow that drifted down and covered shoveled paths with a light layer.   We didn’t care, it was Saturday and we wanted our walk.

With eager hearts we set out for our park.  I had scoped it out a few days ago and could tell that people had been going in.

They got in fine and boy were they fast, they were out of sight before I even got a foot in. I wanted to document the entire trip, but I figured you’d get tired of my panting and the sound of my ski pants rubbing together.

I opted for my favorite trail. As it turned out, it was the path less taken by others, but we forged our own trail.

I took a couple of videos only because it was so funny watching the dogs hopping through the snow.

There is something so majestically beautiful about the woods all covered in snow.

It was a peaceful walk, with lots of time for quiet reflection.  Just what I needed to get my creative juices flowing again.

To have a heart like a dog, you can’t be afraid to blaze your own trail.  Sometimes the path less traveled is exactly where you’re supposed to be.

A Walk in the Blizzard

February 9, 2013 By Jodi

Well it seems our area of the country is quickly turning into the Super Storm capital of the world.

Apparently our local weather station has been naming snow storms for a number of years.  They are calling this one Charlotte.

Recently the National Weather Center began naming winter storms as well, they’re calling this one Nemo.

I’m calling it Charmo.

No matter what it’s called, we’re having a blizzard.

It started about mid-morning yesterday and our Governor was requesting people stay off the roads, since I work literally five-minute from work, I stayed for half a day.   Then went home to get the dogs out for a walk.

We had just entered the park when I saw movement up the hill and to my right.  It was a herd of deer.  The dogs were easily redirected although they were definitely searching for something.

S and D What does that smell like to you?

Snowy D I love pictures of Delilah in the snow, she is so beautiful against the white background. (Is it just me or does her nose look crooked?)

Blizzard Wind So that’s what a blizzard wind feels like.

Snowy Mama The snow melts on the dog’s fur, but not on mine.

All walked and happy, we went back to the house and are all hunkered down waiting for the blizzard to pass.

Are you in Charmo’s path?  Did you get a chance to walk before the storm or are you playing indoor games?

Super Snow Sunday

February 3, 2013 By Jodi

We had some decent snow predicted for Super Bowl Sunday.  I hope the game is better than this storm was.

The three to six inches of snow turned out to be a dusting, it sort of looks like the confectioner’s sugar I put on my french toast.

Field Okay, in reality I DO put more confectioner’s sugar than this on my french toast, the sun had already melted much of the snow in the field.

Footprints There was  just enough snow in some spots to let me know someone had already been at the park and they had a dog.

Sniff 2 The dogs seemed to know if too, because as soon as we hit the trail, their noses went down.

Sniff They sniffed

IMG_3949 IMG_3958 and searched.

And while we didn’t come across the person with their dog.

1-Rock We did enjoy the beauty that Mother Nature provides.

Enjoy your Sunday and remember, to have a heart like a dog, you must be able to enjoy the beauty in front of you.
