Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday

December 28, 2012 By Jodi

Welcome to the Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday, the blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Yes I have a co-host this week.

I’ve been following my co-host for about a month now, and getting to know her through current posts.  I’ve recently had the time to poke through the blog though and I realized exactly how much we have in common.

Her Thankful Thursday post from 12-20-12 expressed so many of my own feelings about walking with my dogs.

“Today, on Thankful Thursday, I am grateful to have a dog that loves nothing more than a long walk in the woods.”

“When life closes in, when stress mounts, there’s nothing better than a long walk in the woods. Sometimes, no matter how much I know I’ll enjoy it, it’s hard to work up the motivation to gather the gear and make the drive…and then I think about how much Gizmo loves our adventures, and that’s enough to get me up and going.”

“t brings me great joy to see him having so much fun. As we hike along the trail tension melts…I breathe deeply and  enjoy the peace and solitude. I notice the beauty of my surroundings. I feel good.”

Well you get my point right?  I could see me and the dogs taking a hike with them.

Yes. I. Could.

Please welcome my co-host this week, Gizmo and his mom Beth, from Terrier Torrent.

Home for the Holidays – Update

Well the dogs are not adjusting well to the puppy at all.  In fact, Sampson has gone after the puppy on two different occasions where the puppy retreated whimpering and whining.

I had reached out to Deanna, from For the Love of My Dogs.  Deanna does a lot of fostering and I thought she might have a solution.  When she had a similar situation with one of her fosters, the only thing that worked was putting the dog in the crate while still being able to see others interacting with the other dogs.

Our daughter is using our crate for Bo, but both times Sampson went after Bo, he went into the bedroom and was sequestered for his behavior.

Our friends the 2 Brown Dawgs suggested gates.  We rearranged the living room furniture so Sampson and Delilah were restrained.  They seemed to do very well, but it was after we let them out that Sampson went after Bo the second time.

My son-in-law keeps saying they will work it out, but it makes me so nervous.  I do not want my dogs to be the ruin of a puppy.

My dogs are perfect to me, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have bad days or quirky personality traits.  That being said I think there are times when they are sending a signal to Beauregard that he either doesn’t understand or chooses to ignore.

I have watched Sampson with that get it away from me look on his face trying to get away from Bo, but Bo keeps following him.

He’s so cute though, check him out.

I also think they’re not giving him a chance.  So we are managing with crates, gates and “Sampson, be nice!”  “Delilah, be nice!” ” Bo, come here.”

For a person who has always heard, What a great dogs you have, I feel like an utter failure.

I told Hubby, it’s probably a sure bet I’ll never be able to foster a puppy.

Christmas Eve – Update

According to the tracking system the US postal system uses, all calendars sent to residents in the US have been delivered.  To our friends in Canada and the UK will you please let me know you received your calendars.

There is a whole little story behind the calendars but it’s too lengthy to share in the FUF post, I plan on writing about it hopefully within the next week or so.

Merry Christmas – Author’s Note

I took the day after Christmas off and besides walking the dogs, I did nothing much but sit on my computer and catch up on my blog reading and commenting.

I do have to note though, it sucks going back to straight coffee after you’ve had some lovely days with Irish Coffees. 🙁

WTF Wednesday – Update

First it should have been titled WTF/Whoo Hoo Wednesday, but it’s been so long I completely forgot how I roll.

Now about that dog….Noelle as she has been named was bleeding from her nose and had Kennel Cough which turned into Pneumonia along with a partially collapsed lung.

The latest update I received stated she is ….responding well to treatment and they are looking for a foster home with no animals (due to the Kennel Cough.)

Pet Blogger Gift Exchange – Author’s Note

I supposed I should have told you this, but Cokie the Cat is a male.  I know, I know, I referred to her, but I was referring to Kristin as her, since she is Cokie’s mother.

I just wanted to clarify because I noticed many people referring to Cokie as she or her.

The other thing I forgot to do on this post to provide a link back to Pamela’s Blog.

Ooops, my bad.

That’s it for me.

Un-Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday

December 21, 2012 By Jodi

Welcome to Un-Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday, the blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Do you hate blog hops?  If your answer is no, then why won’t you sign up to co-host with me?

It’s not that hard, I promise.  I think I’ve actually learned enough to help you through it too!

The New Normal – Author’s Note

Well here we are a week later, there’s been lots of talk about how to prevent something like Newtown from ever happening again.

I realize a lot of people are speaking out of fear and anger and rightly so.

My personal belief is that outlawing certain weapons will not be enough to prevent a tragedy like this from occurring again.

We need some frank and honest discussions about what’s wrong in our society and take measures to fix it, starting with mental health care…society’s glorification of violence…the media’s thirst for the dirtiest little details…the adulation of athletes that are criminals…

I won’t apologize for my opinion, but I will climb down from my soapbox. 🙂

‘Ello Fred – Update

Fred has adjusted wonderfully to his new home.  His older brother Ollie is getting used to having a small, spry one in the family. He has begun chasing and playing with him and even grooms him on occasion.

And yes, my son-in-law has picked him up. 🙂

The Gift Every Dog Walker Needs For Christmas – Author’s Note

For those of you who said you were getting one of these lights, please come back and let me know what you think about them.

I did discover that they aren’t super fantastic in the fog, but then I haven’t really found ANY light that’s super fantastic in the fog. 🙂

Mental Stimulation is a Good Thing – Author’s Note

As you may have noticed Delilah loves using her brain.  You can see her trying to figure out what Ariane wants in the video I posted yesterday.  When we come home from tricks class, she is just as tired as if we’d taken a long walk.

I like to exercise my mind and body and I like to think my dogs do as well.

Can You Spare a Stamp? – Author’s Note

I just wanted to let you all know that I did indeed verify the truth of the story of Dalton Dingus before I put his address out there.

I learned my lesson from one of my WTF posts, when I didn’t have quite the whole story. 🙂

And just because I love this picture:

Yes, that's Delilah with a toy pig in her mouth. It cracks me up.

Follow-Up Friday 12-14-12

December 14, 2012 By Jodi

Today is the day we chose to celebrate the great being we refer to as Delilah a.k.a. Sweet Pea, Baby Girl, Big Girl, Sweetie Pie and sometimes PITA.

Happy Birthday baby girl!!

Today is also the Follow-up Friday blog hop (fondly referred to as FUF by me)  because sometimes you write something that requires a follow-up or someone will leave a comment that really resonates with you…Follow-Up Friday Baby!

Feel free to copy the badge and join the party.

I still need co-hosts for Follow-Up Fridays.  I’d really like a co-host every week if possible.  If you’re interested whether you’ve already done it or not please let me know.  I think I’ve learned enough to help walk you through it if you’re unsure. 😉

How Do You Clean Your Dog’s Teeth? – Author’s Note

Am I ever glad I put this post up.  I learned so much from you, that I really feel a lot better about Sampson going under anesthesia.  I will check in with our vet in the spring and make a decision then.

Thank you so much for your informative comments.

The Fog Was Freaky – Author’s Note

I’m glad I’m not the only one that gets freaked out by the fog.

I’m not big on horror movies.  Some people love to be scared, I do NOT.  There aren’t very many horror movies I will watch, but many years ago I did watch “The Fog” with Adrienne Barbeau, and every time I’m in the fog I say, “The fog is rolling in tonight” that might not be the right line, but it’s what sticks out in my mind.  Which is probably why the fog freaks me out.

Monday Mischief – Author’s Note

When I did speak with the vet on the phone she said actually the popcorn is worse for her than the chocolate.  I should have asked why, but I didn’t.  Do you know?

It’s funny because I could really set a plate of food down in the middle of the floor and tell Sampson to leave it and he would.  I sometimes wonder what he thinks when he sees Delilah doing all her mischief.

In my mind, he rolls his eyes and says, “Oh Delilah.”

Dogs of Blogville Calendar – Update

We hit a little snafu with the design of the calendars.  Apparently the calendar we chose has 28 pages. Julie designed 25, so we have to figure out how to rearrange the calendar and fill out those three extra pages.

We are working on it.

Originally I had chosen 5 to 6 business days for processing, which was the least expensive ($22) option.  I can go in and adjust that to expedited shipping, which I think is about $58, but I’m not sure.  It will depend on how quickly we can get it straightened out.  If it’s a quick fix and expediting the calendars will get them here a couple of days before Christmas, I might just go for it!

By the way, you can no longer order the calendars.  HOWEVER if there is a big demand after you all see how beautiful they are, I can always reorder. 🙂

Canvas Art – A Review and Giveaway – Update

I had completely forgotten about this giveaway until I saw Bringing Up Bella running one on her blog.  I immediately went in to Rafflecopter.  This is a great tool!  Not only will it randomly choose the winner for you, it posts it on the blog post!

I just wanted to let you know the Canvas Art was won by our very good friend Misty Shores!  Misty let me know that her canvas print shipped today, she’s super excited to see it and so am I.

Congratulations Misty!!

Oh and did I mention, this is the Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop…
