Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday – 3-29-13

March 29, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-Up Friday, the blog hop that lets you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop

Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop

This is the second time for this week’s co-hostess.  If you follow her blog you’ll notice her dogs have been complaining a bit lately as she’s been doing a little bit of traveling.

When she’s not in the tropics or Arizona, she’s home taking care of her crew consisting of Teddy, Ash and Scout.  She recently helped her son save a furry baby from the pound.  Please help me in welcoming Lisa from Dogs N Pawz.

Thank you Lisa for co-hostessing with me this week!

I’ve decided to do something a little different this week.  Since I’ve gotten so behind in responding to my comments, I’ve decided to follow some you and answer some questions along with my follow-up.

Savvy?

Somewhere Over the Rainbow – Update

When I spoke with Steve and Bonnie’s daughter last week, she told me they already have their next Greyhound adoption in the works.  I’m hoping I get pictures. 🙂

Under the Weather – Update

2 Brown Dawgs asked – Could he have scrapped it on some hard snow and is now just licking out of habit?

Anything’s possible at this point.  When I spoke with the Holistic Vet’s assistant, she said he could even be licking it as a form of acupressure.  For instance, his tummy feels nauseous but when he has pressure on his wrist joint, the nausea goes away.

In the meantime, I’m letting the air get at it when we’re home to monitor him and wrapping it with medicine when we can’t.

The Trash Collector – Author’s Note

Julie said- What do you think Sampson does when she is being naughty?

I’ve thought about this a lot actually Julie.  When I picture it, I imagine Sampson rolling his eyes, and shaking his head.

Frankie Furter asked – So WHO was the Bad one??? Delia or Dad????

Donna  asked – who could you blame for this one?

All I can say to both of those questions is Hubby hates getting called out on the blog, but I know and you know who was at fault.  He knows too. 😉

Jackie said – A hungry pup’s gotta do what a hungry pup’s gotta do!  I don’t think Rita would do that, but once we were out past our beagle’s dinner time. We came home all apologetic and rushed to feed her – when we noticed that the door to the closet w/ her food bag was ajar, and that her sides were BULGING. At the time I had no idea that overeating so much could kill a dog. We had to walk her MANY times that night! (And we lived on the 11th floor at the time – so no easy feat.)

All I can say is WOW.

Zoned Out – Author’s Note

Sue asked – I don’t know if you believe in such things, but have you considered trying a session with an animal communicator to see what Delilah is thinking?

I actually do believe in that Sue, and I have used an animal communicator when Delilah was having her health issues, the only thing is I didn’t think that communicator was very accurate, so if you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them.

ACD6Pack said – My first thought was maybe something wrong with her hearing but since we have a deaf dog and a partially deaf one that’s my first thought.

My question to you is do you let your deaf dogs run off-leash and how do you recall them?

Wordless Wednesday – Update

First let me say, I really love this caption the photo thing, you all have such great answers!!

Here’s mine.

IMG_3705 “Dance like nobody’s watching.”

This ‘N That Thursday – Author’s Note

I’m super excited that 2 Brown Dawgs decided to make this into a Blog Hop, congratulations!

Gizmo said – Was the instigating dog’s owner paying attention? or did she just drop the leash? Was she the one you showed on the cellphone?

Yes Tegan’s owner was paying attention, except she’s recently had surgery on her knee and isn’t as quick as she could be.  And no, it was not the lady with the cell phone, she wasn’t there this week.

All Things Collie said – What really want to know about is all natural flea and tick repellents, and if they are effective. I really hate having to use K-9 Advantage/Frontline.

I plan on doing that not this coming Wednesday but the following one.  I’ve been experimenting with a natural protocol for the last two years and am very happy with what we’re currently using.

I can’t wait to share that with you.

That’s all I’ve got for you this week, thanks for joining us and have a wonderful weekend and a great Easter.

Many thanks to Lisa and the crew at Dogs N Pawz for co-hostessing with me this week.  If you don’t already know Lisa, stop by and say hello to Scout, Ash and Teddy.

Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday

February 15, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Co-Hosted Follow Up Friday Blog hop, the blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

https://www.heartlikeadog.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/follow-up-friday.jpg

I suckered a new one in My co-hostess this week is new to our FUF blog hop.  She’s a frequent commenter on this blog and reminds me in many ways of myself, as she can sometimes be technically challenged.  🙂

She has two mellow pups (Callie and Shadow) and one slightly demonic one (Ducky.)

She’s living the Golden Life in South Carolina.

Any guesses?

It’s Sue from the Golden Life!!  Welcome Sue and thanks for co-hosting today!

A Walk in the Blizzard, Doot, Doot, Doot and Monday Mischief – Updates

We sure got a lot of snow, and it took all of Saturday and a good part of Sunday to get us cleared out.  But we were back to normal by Sunday evening, with just a lot of extra snow.  Other areas of CT were not so lucky.

I’ve heard stories of people who took to the streets with their snow blowers in their neighborhoods just to get cleared out.

I am not complaining about how my town handled the snow removal, they have (IMO) done a wonderful job.

Many schools have been closed for the entire week, because they all have flat roofs and officials are concerned about the roof collapsing, indeed I’ve heard there have been 18 collapsed roofs in the state.

Once the snow has been removed from the roads, the bigger issue becomes where can they put it?

Thankfully we’ve had some decently warm days this week and the snow is melting.  I have high hopes of getting into our park this weekend. 🙂

I am however ready for the closed announcements to stop running across the bottom of my TV screen.

 Frosty Blog Paws – Update

Well Blogpaws announced it on their website yesterday, I guess I can’t get out of it now. 😉

I just want to let you all know that I will be sharing the presentation after the conference.  I would expect most of the information I’ll be presenting will be old hat to you pros, but I will share it anyway.

I did try to respond to every comment, but wanted to single this comment from Leslie out, “PS – any chance you’ll be bringing the pups to BP?”

Please see the photo under Let’s Pretend. 🙂

Hop Along – Update

Here’s the photo with my caption:

Let’s Pretend – Author’s Note

Beth asked to please share what others are using for photo editing.  The free ones mentioned were Pic Monkey and Visualizer Photo downsizer.

I checked both of these programs out.  Visualizer looks to be just a photo resizer.  I didn’t spend any time with it. (If I’m wrong, please let me know!)

Pic Monkey had lots of cool features to play around with.  When I say I quickly did this picture I mean quickly.  There was no frustration on my part, it was simple and easy to use. No tears, swearing or anything!

BlogPaws2 I did this in a matter of minutes.

What I really loved about this is I did not have to open an account, although the option was there.  There were all kinds of effects, borders, themes for modifying pictures, the only tool I didn’t see offered was a free style tool to actually draw on the photo.  Maybe that’s offered with an account, I don’t know.

Any of you Pic Monkey users know?

Seriously though Leslie, I am planning on bringing Sampson to BlogPaws, although if I can get some likes on my facebook page, that’s a bonus! 😉 I will probably write a post about that, but that’s for another day.

Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday

January 11, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of co-hosted Follow-up Friday Blog Hop.

Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop

Follow-Up Friday

My co-hostess this week is someone I admire very much.  She adopted a shy, fearful dog and found out she has some reactivity issues.  Some people would give up on dog like Bella, but not Leslie and Jan.  They’ve found an agility class for reactive dogs and have met with behavioral specialists to find a way to help Bella.  Leslie courageously shares their story on her blog.

Many thanks to Leslie from Bringing Up Bella, for co-hosting the FUF blog hop. The blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Trail Blazers – Author’s Note

The snow we got was the light and fluffy kind.  All you snow connoisseurs will know, the light, fluffy snow is just as bad (if not worse) than the heavy wet snow.

While I could only manage one loop around, the dogs got plenty of running time.  I however felt like I’d worked out in the gym for about an hour.

Snow

That is hard work!

I. Kid. You. Not.

The Dog Squad – Update

Can you say, open mouth, insert foot?

It was supposed to be a fun post mainly designed to get some followers on Pinterest.  It worked, I now have 16 Pinterest followers, but at first I don’t think it came off quite the way the post was intended.

Initially I started reading the comments and I thought, WHOA, that’s not how I meant it at all.  I thought maybe I better go in and update the post to try to make it a bit clearer.  When I signed into my dashboard there was a comment in the spam folder from Yvonne DiVita.

OMG.  Yvonne DiVita read my blog.

I started to hyperventilate.  Where’s a paper bag when you need one?

But, I caught my breath, updated the post and calmed down a bit.

My friend Cokie wrote this in the comments:

“you thought it looked like the cat people worked it with their wardrobe more than the dog people at BlogPaws, which I think is a fair statement in that I remember seeing more fanciful cat ears, cat prints, cat glasses, cat earrings and cat jewelry in general, than dog ears, dog glasses and dog earrings… Just sayin’ =^..^=”

Thank you Cokie.  That is exactly what I meant.

Pet Blogger Challenge – Author’s Note

What a great, thought-provoking challenge.  I’ve barely gotten into reading the posts (last I looked there were over 80 participants) but I’m already learning so much from all of you.

Great job to all who participated and thanks so much to Amy, from Go Pet Friendly for hosting this blog hop. I really look forward to participating again next year.

Speaking of blog hops, this wraps it up for me.  Many thanks to Leslie from Bringing Up Bella for sharing the co-hosting duties.
