Happy Birthday Delilah and Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers Day 14

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Thank you all for the birthday wishes for my sweet girl, she had a good day.  I came home from shopping with a toy for each of them (a tradition of my grandmothers) and they had fun destroying them. 🙂

Yes when we were children the birthday girl got a present and the other two got something small.  I think it was her way of letting us know we were all important.

Jan K said, “I think your grandmother is looking down on you and enjoying the fact that Delilah keeps you so entertained and happy(and entertains the rest of us too).”

That’s a wonderful sentiment Jan, I’d like to believe that.

I Thought Delilah was THE Diva and Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers Day 16

Thanks to all of you who explained why it’s called the “Cone of Shame,” after the third day it didn’t seem to bother him quite so much!  And today IS his last day, but now I’m a bit nervous about him getting his stitches out.  Will it hurt him?  What if he snaps at someone?  Will he have a permanent mark on his record?

Jackie said, “The cone is the worst. We haven’t had to put Rita in it (yet – it’s inevitable though, isn’t it??)”

I hope not Jackie!  It is so heart breaking.

Emma said, “When I got spayed they gave me a cone but Mom didn’t have the heart to put it on me, so I learned the “no lick” command and it works great.”

Sampson knows that command too Emma and he’s pretty good about following it when we are there, but if we’re not there, he needs to wear the cone.

Pup Fan said, “We got her the Comfy Cone and she was marginally less grouchy than when she had the plastic one, but not by much…”

I considered the Comfy Cone and finally found one locally, but after a telephone discussion I was told that some dogs can push the Comfy Cone back and since my area of concern was the stitches on his face, we opted to stick with the hard cone.

Pamela asked, “Any chance your job would let you take medical leave?”

They probably would, but I’d much prefer bringing him with me, except that would mean leaving Delilah home alone….when I bring her into work, I have to shut everyone’s doors because she goes and cleans out their garbage cans.

Gawking Around the Christmas Tree and Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers Day 17

Frankie and Ernie said, “An ENTIRE stick of ORGANIC BUTTER?? Delilah girrrrrrrl you are gonna have some SLICK POOPS.”

Nope.  No slick poops for that one.  Once she ate THREE sticks of butter WITH THE WRAPPERS and all that happened was she was really thirsty and threw up a tiny bit of foam.

Kristine said, “Hahahahaha! I laugh in sympathy. Why do you think I get suspicious every single time Shiva leaves the room?”

I knew if anyone understood this, it would be you Kristine. 🙂

Ear Worm and Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers Day 18

WOW you guys!!  What an amazing response to this blog hop!!  I’ve started reading them, but I hope you understand with 95 entries, it will take some time!

As for the ear worm, well sometimes songs just roll around in my head and I feel the need to get them out. 🙂

Nursing Home Tales and Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers Day 19

Jackie said, “We poke fun at my 86-yr-old mom all the time, so if you are going to hell, I’ll see you there!”

We’re gonna have fuuuuun!

SlimDoggy said, “Beautiful shot of your backyard.”

Jenna, Mark “Husky-Crazed” Drady said, “I love the pic of your yard! It looks like its straight out of a painting or a movie or something!”

Jessica @ Life with Duke said, “That is a beautiful picture at the end!.”

Night

Thank you all.  That was exactly how the night looked and it was so beautiful.  I put my camera up to the window, used no flash and the low lighting setting and it captured it beautifully.  Of course I had some bloopers as well.

Jan said, “There are all kinds of ways to make people feel better and dogs seem to know them all.”

They sure do Jan, they sure do.

That’s a wrap for me.  You can find the blog hop below the Advent Calendar post.  Have a great weekend!

Follow-Up Friday and Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers Day 13

December 13, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-Up Friday, the blog hop that helps you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop

Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop

Well here it is December 13th and I just realized yesterday that I missed my three year blogging anniversary!  LOL  See what happens when you switch to self-hosted?  You don’t have those little WordPress monkeys to remind you of important mile stones.

You Make Me Smile and Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers Day 8

Animal Couriers said, “Bet you wake up with a crick in your neck ;-)”

Sometimes I do, but it doesn’t matter to me, I’ll happily sleep like a pretzel if my puppies are cuddled against me.

Emma said, “Mom finally caved. Bailie sleeps all snuggles with Mom and sometimes Mom gets a paw in the face, but she doesn’t care, she loves having a dog in bed to snuggle.”

Welcome to the dark side Mom. 🙂

Lauranne said, “Cuddling up to my dog is the favourite thing in the world!”

You and me both!!

Meet the Bloggers and Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers Day 9

Emma asked, “Since I’m the dog and I’m the blogger, should I skip it or do it? Mom seems to think they want humans but it is my blog. What is your opinion?”

Read what one of the originators of the blog hop had to say.

Pup Fan replied, “Maybe you can blog about your mom that day? Hehe.”

Frankie and Ernie asked, “Heeehehehe do you SIRIUSLY think anybuddy Really wants to read all that stuffs about our PEEPS???”

I realize a lot of people aren’t comfortable putting themselves ‘out’ in the blogosphere, BUT I think a lot of people want to make a connection with the person behind the blog.  It’s a personal preference so if you don’t feel comfortable participating no one will be mad.  Disappointed maybe, but certainly not mad!

Kristine asked, “So tell me, Jodi, what makes you feel fabulous? ;-)”

You’ll just have to wait until the 18th to find out. 😉

Off-leash Chatter and Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers Day 10

Roxy the Traveling Dog said, “That’s all so interesting. I do wonder about the second leash thing though. When I am walking Torrey and unclipped her, she’s off and running. Maybe it’s just the sound and the fact she knows that’s what I’m doing.”

Now that you mention it, I’m wondering if it’s the sound as well.  Food for thought.

Jessica said, “It seems to me that Delilah needs some off-leash recall practice in a low-stakes environment. ….Have you practiced with her in a fenced yard or a really boring place outside??”

It’s been a while since we worked her there, I’ll have to find an enclosed area where we can practice.

Delilah’s Reality Show and Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers Day 11

Emma said, “In the end, it must be the fault of the human for leaving such a temptation unguarded.”

I absolutely take full responsibility for that Emma, it was totally my fault.

Jessica said, “Labs are usually a little too mellow for me, but Delilah is definitely not!”

I think it’s the Chocolate Labs, I’ve never met or heard of one that wasn’t just a little off the wall. 🙂

This story cracked me up.

Dawn said, “I used to feed my cats on a table on what we call the back porch (it’s a room off the kitchen all enclosed) and one of the dogs was helping them selves, but I couldn’t figure out who.

One day I left to go run errands when I went back into the house to grab my sunglasses. As I walked in the door, I could hear someone out there chomping on cat food. Ah ha, now I had the culprit! I started into the kitchen when my lab, Torri, came running around the corner. She skidded to a stop, looked at me and then spit a whole mouthful of cat food all over the floor and took off past me. I hadn’t said a word the whole time, but I was trying not to laugh. It was just the funniest spit take ever.”

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And no, she’s not still sitting there.

Sampson is Home and Advent Calendar for Dogs Day 12

Thank you all so much for your kind words and thoughts.  He is none the worse for wear and I’m having a hard time keeping him quiet.

Animal Couriers said, “That is great news – dear chap still looks knocked out in the photos.”

He was just happy to be home.   Although he was a tad bit clingy.

Pamela said, “And since you didn’t mention any problems, I’m assuming Delilah did ok by herself while Sampson was gone.”

Delilah surprised me in a pleasant way.  She was so good, and she didn’t get into anything!

That’s it for this week’s edition of Follow-Up Friday.  You can find the blog hop below the Advent Calendar info.

Have a great weekend!

Follow-up Friday and the Advent Calendar for Dogs Day 6

December 6, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of Follow-up Friday, the blog hop that wraps up your week and leads you right into the weekend!!

Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop

Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop

I love Follow-Up Friday because it gives me the opportunity to follow-up on comments that I can’t always get to during the week.

December 1, 2013-The Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers and You Make Me Smile

Delilah - Lolly

Delilah climbs in Hubby’s lap all the time, but I was surprised to see her climb in my sisters!

Donna said, “I’m guessing either your sister is a dog lover too—or she was trapped.”

Thankfully my sister is a dog lover, but she was trapped.  LOL  Delilah rarely takes no for an answer.

Leslie said, ” And given that my dog doesn’t even like to be my lapdog, I’m thinking we need to arrange a visit so I can get some Delilah lovin’.

You are always welcome here Leslie, I know Sampson and Delilah would be delighted, as would I.

And All Things Collie asked if all the calendars were sold.

Yes, I ordered just enough to fill the orders.  Although there is one calendar that is going in the grand prize pack for the Advent Calendar.

Off-Leash Behavior and Advent Calendar Day Two

There were so many great comments on this post.  So. MANY.  I want to make sure I do them justice, so we will be revisiting this topic on Monday.

Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers Day 3: Yappy Hour Vineyards

Leslie said, “Oh the oenophile is me is all a-quiver!”

Dammit Leslie, I had to look that word up!  How often does oenophile come up in your daily conversations? 🙂

I Dropped the Blogging Ball and Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers Day 4

First I want to thank you all for your concern for my mom.  She is on the mend at the moment, although she won’t be home as fast as she’d like.  Thankfully she has no computer access where she is so I can tell you that rehab is telling me at least 2 more weeks.  She’s very upset that she is missing so many blog posts.

Emma said, “There is this four letter thing that seems to get in the way all the time called W-O-R-K if we could just leave that out of our daily program there would be so much more time for important stuff!”

You are so right Emma, I swear I could spend 8 hours a day working on blog related stuff.

Jackie said, “Yes, where does the time go? Hard to believe it will be Christmas in 3 weeks. (PANIC!)”

STOP Jackie, don’t tell me that, I haven’t even started yet!

Jan K said, ” I can’t seem to get caught up on my blog reading!”

Me either Jan!  I have a good day and think I’m ahead of the curve but no, I still have over 400 posts to be read in my reader.

This ‘N That Thursday and Advent Calendar for Dogs Day 5

Cupcake asked, “Did they leave you any delicious “candies” in the grass?”

Eww….I just realized why Sampson loves to sniff down there.

Callie, Shadow and Ducky’s Mom said, “Wow! What a weekend! 17 pix of turkeys, 2 barking dogs, and ?? A partridge in a pear tree maybe?”

That made me smile, I’ll be working on that one Sue, let me see what I can come up with. 😀

Pamela said, “Turkeys sure are ballsy aren’t they?”

Yes they are Pamela, yes they are.

Blueberry’s Human said, “I totally would have taken the remaining turkey from the fridge and run outside waving it in front of those turkeys while shouting, “Get outta here or this’ll be you next you scoundrels!”. But, that’s just me. :)”

Now I would pay to see that. 😀

That’s it for me and this edition of Follow-up Friday, now are you ready to win something really cool?
