Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday

February 1, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Co-Hosted Follow Up Friday Blog hop, the blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop

My co-hostess this week is a repeat offender. :-)  She’s dog savvy, smart and owner of three handsome pups.

Need another hint?  Her Dawgs are brown and go by the names, Thunder, Storm and Freighter.

Ah you got it!  It’s the 2 Brown Dawgs blog!  Thank you so much for co-hosting 2 Brown Dawgs, we’re happy to have you back!

Does Anybody Rally Know What Time It Is?, What’s Your Rally Cry? – Author’s Note:

Dawn made an excellent point that I forgot to mention.  The real difference between a Rally match and an Obedience match is you can talk to your dog.

In Obedience you are only allowed to give your dog commands, in Rally you can talk to your dog the entire time you are in the ring.  Which can make a huge different if you had a dog that has a mind of their own.

When I signed us up for this Rally class, I received a packet containing the Rally signs we were learning. Ariane suggests we practice the harder signs without our dogs first.  Then once we have an idea of what we’re doing, add our dogs.

I was super excited this past Tuesday, I actually did a Left About turn and I did it right!  I can’t tell you how long Sara has been trying to instruct me in this command, but it finally paid off.  I intend on including it in the video I submit for Train your dog month.

How I Write – A Guest Post by Erin Shanendoah – Author’s Note:

This was the very first guest post on this blog and I was super excited to have Erin.  I’ve been following two of Erin’s blogs for a while now, The Dog Ate My Wallet and Life by Pets and I knew of her goals to write a certain amount of guest posts this year.

I love how she approached this.  She sent me an e-mail and said here’s a post I did that might be a possible guest post for Heart Like a Dog and she attached the post.

That’s the way to do a guest post, folks!

I hope you enjoyed her post as much as I did.

Thanks again Erin!!  it was a pleasure.

Wordless Wednesday – Author’s Note:

Oh my dog!  You all had such great captions!  I can honestly say I got many giggles from them.

For the record, this is an old photo.  I took it close to two years ago and I can’t remember why they were looking in there but I can assure you 1) the water was as clean as it could be in a toilet 2) they did NOT drink any of the water and 3) Delilah would be the one who would be the instigator, not Sampson.

I did run the photo back in 2011, but considering the time that has passed, I thought it safe to run again.  So here it is, the original picture with the caption I gave it.

It really is magic. I never see them fill it, but it ALWAYS has fresh water in it!

This ‘N That Thursday – Author’s Note:

We won a contest – Update

IMG_3932 Sampson got his turn with Mr. Sheep last night.  Within minutes he had torn a hole in his head (the sheep’s, not Sampsons.)

Unfortunately the noisemaker inside the head was a small plastic rattle.  My dogs are fine with squeakers, but I couldn’t take the chance with the rattle and I had to take it away.

IMG_3933 Poor Punkin, he looks like he lost his last friend.

Have you seen my Mojo? – Author’s Note

Yeah, I have no idea what’s up with this, but I thank you for your awesome comments, you always find a way to bolster my spirits.

I sat down yesterday and set out a few days worth of posts, and we should also be out walking this weekend which hopefully will help clear the cobwebs from my brain.

Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday

January 25, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Co-Hosted Follow Up Friday Blog hop, the blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop

My co-hostess this week is a repeat offender. 🙂

I really wish she and I lived closer because I would love to hike with her, in fact her post yesterday has me siriously considering taking the dogs Geocaching.

It seems I’m always learning something when I visit her blog, whether it’s about geocaching, butterfly gardens or architecture.

Guessed it yet?

It’s Gizmo and Beth from Terrier Torrent!!

Thanks so much for co-hosting with me this week, Gizmo and Beth, it’s good to have you back.

Waist Not, Want Not – Author’s Note

I’d like the dogs to lose just a little bit more weight, Sampson more than Delilah.  She’s actually pretty close to her perfect weight in my eyes, but we’ll see what our vet says in June.  In the meantime, I’ll continue to cut a tiny bit more from their raw food and see how it goes.

If anyone is interested in trying raw and need a good nutritionist just let me know, Sandy doesn’t mind if I share her e-mail.

Monday Mischief – Update

I was pretty sore Monday and Tuesday but nothing that wasn’t expected with the hard body slam I took. 🙂  I kept my wrist wrapped for Sunday and Monday night and by Tuesday it wasn’t bothering me in the least.

I’m truly grateful it wasn’t worse.

Kefir Madness – Author’s Note

I was surprised that so many of you already knew about Kefir, where have I been?  Why am I always last to the party? 🙂

I was asked if it’s not a bit messy, and yes sometimes it is.  Delilah eats her treat on the throw rug in the living room and that’s easily washable.  Sampson gets his on a towel on our bed.  Normally it’s not very messy at all.

If I Could Turn Back Time – Author’s Note

I guess I get more training in then I realized.  Somehow when I think of training I think of teaching the dogs something new.  But there’s nothing wrong in reinforcing your foundation commands, you never know when a good sit or wait will save your dog.

The Art of a Dog Fart – Author’s Note

I was surprised to hear some of you say your dogs don’t fart.  While my dogs don’t fart a lot, there are times when they do.  As evidenced by yesterday’s post.

What really made me laugh and what so many of you echoed in the comments was that the dog doesn’t realize what the fart is and that it actually came from them.

Oh the things that amuse me.

That’s it for my Follow-Up Friday post, many thanks for Terrier Torrent for co-hosting this week.

Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop

My co-hostess this week has taught me so much about blogging and has helped me in so many ways, that her intro could be a blog post all its own.

She’s funny and creative and I love her to pieces and it’s not just because we share the same name. 🙂  If you follow her blog you will know her as “The Mama” I know her as the ‘other’ Jodi, it’s the one and only Jodi Chick from Kol’s Notes!!

Thanks for joining us today Jodi, glad to have you!!

Nine Little Monkeys – Author’s Note

First I want to thank you all for reading this blog and helping make 2012 such a stellar year.

Donna made a comment, “The only one that confuses me is that it says you added 211 new posts in 2012….but you post every day….???”

She’s right and those stinking little monkeys are not.  I moved the blog to self-hosted in August (I can’t remember the exact date) assuming I moved it on August 1st, I should have had no more than 153 posts.

BUT those stats didn’t start until I installed JetPack, which was NOT the day I moved the blog, so I’m not really sure those stats are accurate, but I’ll take em. 🙂

Monday Mischief – Author’s Note

What can I say, that dog has mad skills.  If I could only get her to carry the dishes TO the sink.

You just don't understand me.

You only love me for I can do for you!

Wild Heart Ranch – Update

I had a comment on this post yesterday from Shellie B who is a volunteer at Wild Heart Ranch. She explained that sometimes they cannot save an animal and those are the times they euthanize.  You can read her entire comment on the post.

She also explained that Annette’s husband is currently on dialysis and Annette is a bit busy, which is why she didn’t contact me for this post.

I hope you’ll join me in saying a prayer for Annette and her husband.

Many thanks to Shellie for clarifying that mission statement.

WTF/Whoo Hoo Wednesday – Author’s Note

I really have no problem with someone rescuing a dog and then deciding the dog is not right for their household.  Honestly I’d rather have a dog be loved and cherished than have someone who is so frustrated with their dog and their behaviors that they ignore the dog or worse.

That being said, it seemed very suspicious to ME that Governor Scott never addressed the issue.  To ME this implies  he adopted the dog for less than honorable reasons.  From the comments I’ve received from some of the Floridians, it seems like Governor Scott MIGHT be the kind of man to use something for his own gain.

Had he simply released a statement saying “All the caterers and florists entering my mansion were upsetting Reagan, we tried very hard to make him comfortable to no avail, sadly as much as we love him, we decided it would be best for Reagan to go to a quieter home.” <GRIN>

It’s really easy Governor Scott.  You tell the truth.  In a nice way, but you tell the truth.  I know you have spin doctors working over-time to try to make you look good.  It looks a lot better for you and people have more compassion for you when your honest.  And you might have had a chance at re-election.

Speeding is Against the Law – Author’s Note

Well that was a conversation starter!  Thank you to all of you who wrote in and expressed your opinions.

I think we all agree, sharing someone’s blog or re-posting a blog while giving props to the owner is perfectly acceptable.  It’s the information we share without giving proper credit that is a problem.

I asked the Idiot about the photos in question and here was his response, “Many of the goofy photos and graphics I had on the old site had hundreds of copies on google images and there was no way anyone could track down who the original author was.”

So what then?  If you can’t find the person to whom it belongs how do you give them credit?

Perhaps a simple, I couldn’t find the author/photographer of this poem/photo, if you know who it belongs to please let me know and I’d be happy to give them credit or remove it from my site if that is their preference.

The Idiot is currently working on transferring his content, but since he can’t get into his account he cannot notify his subscribers.  2,600 of them.

I would hate for any of us to have to deal with a nightmare like this.  Just be conscious of what your posting and be sure to give credit where credit is due.

That’s it for me, thank you again to Kol’s Notes for co-hosting the Follow-Up Friday Blog Hop
