Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday – May 10, 2013

May 10, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to co-hosted Follow-Up Friday, the blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

My co-hostess this week is a repeater, she writes about her pups, Riva, Cheyenne, Maia and Titan, as well as educating about the Chessie breed.  She recently returned to blogging after taking a little break and I for one am tickled to have her back.

Please welcome my friend Misty from Misty Shores Chesapeakes.

Black and White Sunday

5-5-13

5-5-13-C This photo was taken about two years ago, in the midst of Sampson’s allergic reaction to something in our yard.  If you look closely, you’ll see he has a bald spot above his right ear. I love the way Delilah is sitting and the way the flowers match her collar.  I love that dog in purple!

Sadly the rains came in the last couple of days and look what happened to the Rhododendron tree.

The Rains

Stinky and Needy

I’m glad you found it humorous, I intended it to come across that way.

All Things Collie asked, “Do you think Sampson ate the Bisquick too?”  It did cross my mind because I couldn’t figure out why he was so needy, but I can tell you there was no smell in the living room.

Sue asked,”What I want to know is who took the picture of you & Sampson on the floor? The camera fairy, maybe?”  No, it was actually recreated, trust me there was only me and Sampson awake that night.

Blueberry’s human asked, “I wonder if the vet office staff quickly place their bets on what you are calling about when they see your number pop up?”  You know that’s a great idea!  I think I’ll mention it the next time I’m in there.

JoAnn said, “How old is Delilah?”  Believe it or not she turned 7 in December.  I had hopes that once she hit the two to three years with us mark she would have stopped this behavior, but Delilah is Delilah.

Snoopy said, “I’m wondering how long it will take for you to laugh at the mischief?”  Pretty quick.  By the end of the next day I was already planning it for Monday’s Mischief. 😉

Sue asked, “So, hubby slept through all the stinkbombs?”  Either that or it was like Propofol for him. 😉

Mango Momma said, “Dog farts can be toxic. At least it feels that way sometimes.”  Oh yes, I agree with you 100%!

H and Flo asked, “So Stinky and Needy aren’t the name of the newest dwarves?!”  LOL I actually tried to figure out a way to incorporate that but couldn’t do it.

Donna said, “Oh Delilah. Again?????
Maybe Sampson was just trying to escape the smell???”  I’m thinking you might be right on that.

A Little Yankee Ingenuity

Sugar asked, “What kind of bone you are using?” and Jessica asked, “Are those real bones that you are stuffing?”  Champ’s mom asked, “Is that just a hollowed out marrow bone you use?”

I bought those bones about seven years ago and they were stuffed with either cheese or peanut butter.  Once Sampson had cleaned them out, they were still good for chewing.  I did try and find some newer ones but the ones I found were easily destroyed and didn’t work out.

What Are We Up To?

There was a great variety of guesses on this one

Slimdoggy said, “Looks like some good heel training being done!”

Elyse and Riley said, “Are you learning doggy dancing, Delilah?”

Jen said, “Taking a dance class!”

Winner, winner chicken dinner!!  Tuesday night Delilah and I started our Freestyle class, and we are practicing her show heel.

This ‘N That Thursday

For those of you who are friends with Julie on facebook you know that Cali went over the bridge on Wednesday evening.  My heart just aches for Julie and Kevin and what they are going through and I wish I had words to help her.   But words seem so inadequate.

Jackie asked, “There is never “enough” time with them. What amount could possibly be enough??”  You are right my friend, there is never enough time with them!

Please keep Julie and Kevin in your hearts, thoughts and prayers in this very sad time.

Co-Hosted Follow-Up Friday – May 3, 2013

May 3, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to the latest edition of co-hosted Follow-up Friday.

https://www.heartlikeadog.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/follow-up-friday.jpg

Once again, I have a new co-hostess.  Should you pop over to her blog at any given point in time you’ll see a story or a photo of Louise, Sofie Bear, Nine, Noel or Baby Stella.  They could be taking a trip to the docks or watching flowers grow.  Sometimes, they’re complaining because mom hurt her knee and can’t take them for their walkies.  She posts every day (sometimes more than once) whatever the topic, there’s no doubt she loves her zoo.  (Her words not mine.)

Please help me welcome Lorian from Dogdaz!

Park Day

Many of you thought you’d be confused by the trail markers and I have to tell you truthfully, even though the trails all seem to intersect with one another, it took me the LONGEST time to figure it out.

We’d be walking along and Hubby would ask where we were and I wouldn’t know.  He’d say, but you walk these trails every day!

Eventually you figure them out. 🙂

Black and White Sunday

No, we did not get more snow!  This is an old photo from our pre-Delilah days.  One of my favorite walking trails along with one of my favorite photos of Punkin.  I love the sunlight vs shadow in this photo.

Talking Heads

You are all very welcome for not showing a video.  I’m sure you realize the chicken head doesn’t look like it just came off the chicken, it’s actually kind of spooky.  But the story was meant for amusement and some of you were amused and some were skeeved out.  I can assure you I was skeeved out the first couple of times but after that it didn’t bother me, until the chicken was moving it’s mouth.

Let me try and put this in perspective, a box of 40 pounds of neck with each neck weighing an ounce or less equates to about 640 necks give or take.  I don’t find a head in every box so it’s not all that bad, it’s just a bit shocking the first couple of times. 🙂

Tuesdays Tails

Did you love this idea for a blog hop?  I sure did!

2 Brown Dawgs said, “I wish shelters did more outreach to pair senior dogs with senior people who may want a dog but due to their age may outlive any dog they take in.”

I like this idea.  A lot!  I’ve already decided when the time comes for me to add another dog, I’ll be adding a black senior.

Donna said, “How sad….I don’t know how anyone can drop their dog at a shelter…especially a senior who spent so many years with them…”  I agree Donna, but I think the soldier being deployed felt he had no choice.

All Things Collies said, “I wish there was a rescue set up to take in and foster these dogs when their owners are deployed.”

Then Frankie and Ernie said, “I THINK that there is a program that will find FOSTERS for those who are deployed. Does anybuddy remember hearing about that a couple of years back???”

And yes, I’ve heard of programs that will find fosters for soldiers on deployment, I can’t however put my finger on the name at the moment.  I do think however that many times our soldiers have no idea of the programs that are available to them.

Wordless Wednesday

Well most of you took the nice, polite PG caption I had for this photo.

Here are some of my favorites:

Jackie, “I thought this was gonna suck, but it’s actually kinda nice!”

Pamela, “Hello Baby, you know what I like…”  and then, “Am I the only one who thinks that if Sampson could talk he’d sound like the Big Bopper?”  You know, I never really thought of what Sampson would sound like.  Delilah on the other hand…..

Jessica, “You need to clean the bugs out of that light cover lady”

Mine is totally disgusting, not family oriented and will probably offend some of you, so if you want to avoid that skip down to the end. I’m rating it R for Raunchy.

For those of you brave enough to handle my dirty humor, here it is

Blowdrying So THAT’s a blow job, it’s not bad but I don’t think I’ll be bragging about it to my buddies.

I told you it was Raunchy.

Follow-Up Friday, April 26, 2013

April 26, 2013 By Jodi

Welcome to the latest edition of co-hosted Follow-up Friday.

https://www.heartlikeadog.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/follow-up-friday.jpg

I’m very pleased to introduce you to a new co-hostess this week.  We’ve been slowly getting to know one another by reading each others blogs.  What I’ve learned thus far is she lives in Wisconsin with her husband and her four fur babies, Norman, Nellie, Gambler and Glory.  She hunts with her dogs, (how cool is that?) she shows and hunt tests Gambler and Glory, and she’s recently been writing some beautiful posts about her late father.

Did you guess JoAnn Stancer from Sand Spring Chesapeakes?  If you didn’t, then please be sure to hop on over and get to know her.

And remember, co-hosting is easy, just ask JoAnn. I have co-hosts lined up for the next two weeks but after that I’ll be back to begging.

Black and White Sunday

As luck would have it, I can’t locate the original photo.  I know, I know, I just made it into black and white. But I can’t remember where I put it.

B and W Sunday 4-21-13 So here’s another one from the same photo shoot.

Pawm2 WM

This photo (and a number of others) were taken almost two years ago when I participated in a Back to School blog party hosted by Frankie Furter.   Our ‘session’ in the hop was Prom Etiquette.  I know, can you imagine Delilah teaching etiquette to anyone?

I didn’t think so.

A couple of you asked if Sampson was wearing a tie, as you can see in the color photo, yes he was.

This Dog will be the Death of me.

Honestly either Delilah will kill me either by giving me a heart attack or making me fall on the trail.  The other scenario which I am constantly worried about is that one of these days she will eat something that will kill her.

As it turns out, she came through this scare with flying colors.  Not without a few tense days on my part. Hubby figured out who sent the packing peanuts so I placed a frantic call and was advised the majority of them were made from potato starch.  (No wonder she was desperate to eat them.)

I never liked packing peanuts because of the mess, although with a dog like Delilah…

When Hubby announced at 6:00 am Tuesday morning that she’d taken a big dump, I shot out of bed like a cannon. She DID?

Poor Delilah couldn’t figure out what I was so excited about.

Gizmo said, “I hope everything “comes out” OK “in the end” (humor helps, right?)”  Yes it does.  Although I don’t think I laughed much that first day.

Leslie said, “Oh man, dogs are good at providing us with gray hair, aren’t they?”  You don’t know the half of it Leslie, between the kids and Delilah I’m just about completely gray.

ACD6Pak said, “I’m thinking that you’ll be out there in the dark with a flashlight won’t you?” Damn straight I was! Followed her around like I was a lovestruck school girl.  I think I scared her.

Tracking Spring

IMG_4722 Here is my latest photo, taken yesterday afternoon.

IMG_4727

I thought I should throw in a picture of the bush in my back yard.

Vermont Soap Giveaway

Shannon said, “I wonder if it would help with Rogue’s allergy itchies?”

My contact at Vermont Soap said, “This shampoo will help. We just released a new Hot Spot Oil for pets as well. It is designed to treat irritated itchy spots on pets. Try it out, I think your dog will be very happy!”

There you have it, straight from the expert. 😀

This ‘N That Thursday

Most of you can relate to this issue and I’ll tell you the truth.  When we walk in the woods if the dogs go way off trail, I don’t usually follow them in to pick it up.

I heard that.

When they poop in the field I always pick it up.  When they poop on the trails, I usually pick it up, but if I’m really lazy I flick it off to the side.

2 Brown Dawgs said, “We did talk poop on FB didn’t we? It was there for all our friends to see. :)” LOL yes, yes we did.  In fact, I think I even said “I can’t believe we’re talking poop on facebook.” 😀

Emma said, “We only poop on walks, we learn no pooping in the yard as puppies.” I was wondering why that is?  And what happens if your human is really sick and can’t take you for a walk?  Where do you go?

Thanks for joining JoAnn and I for Follow-up Friday.  Have a great weekend.

This is the Follow-up Friday blog hop, the blog hop that let’s you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.
