Rugs, Bugs and Sunsets….Day Two Hundred, Thirty Eight

July 26, 2011 By Jodi

I keep a couple of rugs laid out in the back of the car.  It gives the dogs something to lay on, prevents them from slipping and helps reduce the wear and tear on the car.

I washed the rugs yesterday because I was taking a couple of co-workers to the airport today.  So my car got what I like to refer to as a “Quick douche.”  You may also refer to it as “A Lick and a Promise.”  I basically wiped as much as I could down and got up as much of the dirt as I could with a damp rag.

As luck would have it, the rains came again today, just before I left work.  We waited for a break in the rain to walk the dogs.  I went out to the car to bring the rugs to Chet only to find wet paw prints all over the back of the car.  It seems someone was anxious for a walk.

Even with the rain, I knew those bugs would be all over me.  I decided to try out my bug cap, which was recommended by our friends at 2BrownDawgs and Gone For a Walk.  I’m sure it’s going to make fellow hikers look at me strangely, but if it keeps those bugs away, I”m all for it.

By the end of our walk, the rain had washed away the humidity and left a beautiful blue sky, with some white fluffy clouds.

Some parts of the state are still under thunderstorm watch, but I think we are done.  At least if the sunset is any indicator.

Let It Rain….Day Two Hundred, Thirty Seven

July 25, 2011 By Jodi

We got a break from the heat today; it came in the form of rain.

After nearly a week of not walking, I was amped up and ready to go, as were Sampson and Delilah.

We weren’t going to let a little rain stop us, so we piled into the car.

As soon as we got to the park it began raining in earnest.  We went anyway.

Sampson and Delilah were so happy to be out of the house and running through the woods again.  I tried desperately to get some pictures but due to the rain, they are rather dark.

We were only out for about 25 minutes; I had to cut it short because the bug spray (from countless applications) was running off my hat into my eyes, so I ended up taking my hat and glasses off.  Thankfully it wasn’t so dark that I couldn’t see. 🙂

As soon as we stepped out of the park near the car, the rain let up.  It stopped about 45 minutes after we got home. 🙁

Here is a picture of me when we got home.

Chet said, “There’s a glare on it.”  But once we looked closer we realized that was where my fanny pack sat (for treats, cell phone and poop bags.)

Literally the only dry spot on my person.

The dogs didn’t fare much better, but we were all happier for the much-needed exercise.

Wet but happy.

Sunday Sunday….Day Two Hundred Thirty Six

July 24, 2011 By Jodi

The dogs are pooped and so is the cat.  My nephew, niece and their daughter came over today and all the activity tuckered them out.

All tuckered out.

I was a bit nervous with the little one (13 months) around the dogs, but I have to tell you, they were awesome.  There were a couple of times where she stepped right on them (once on the tip of Delilah’s tail), and only once when she fell practically on top of Sampson did he growl.

All in all it was a great day, spent with people (and puppies) I love.
