The Smile Says It All

July 11, 2017 By Jodi

Every once in a while, I’m reminded that no matter how hard you try and protect your pets, to do what’s best for them, dogs will still be dogs.

Take Sampson. Despite the fact that he’s had a partial CCL tear for 18 months, there are still days where he has that hitch in his giddyap. If he sees a squirrel or a cat on our walks, he can get to jumping and lunging around. That’s when I rein him in.

As much as I want to protect him, and keep him as comfortable as I can, there are days, when he just gets away from me.

Like yesterday. Delilah was at the door to go potty. I was sitting on the couch, trying to determine what I was going to post today.

Suddenly, there was a ruckus at the door, and I distinctly heard the sound of dogs bolting out the door. That’s dogs….like plural. Two dogs. Not just one. Two.

It took a minute for my brain to register, but when it did, I jumped up almost as quickly as they had bolted out the door.

And there, way up in the back of the yard, was Sampson! He went out the door, down the stairs, and up the fence line!

When he got back to the stairs, he looked at me, and I was totally prepared to help him up the steps, but then he gave me that look, and climbed stoically up the steps, then darted into the house and tried to initiate a wrestling session with Delilah!

At first I was ticked at myself for leaving the door open, but he was so proud and happy with himself, that I couldn’t help but share in that with him.

It’s not often that he gets the opportunity to cut loose, so those moments should be treasured.

The smile says it all.

#Selfies With Delilah

July 2, 2017 By Jodi

When I was at BlogPaws in Myrtle Beach back in May, the big thing was taking selfies with Leroy from My Brown Newfies. (#SelfieswithLeroy on the Instagram). Taking selfies with Leroy is pretty simple, 1) apparently Leroy doesn’t mind having his picture taken and 2) Leroy doesn’t move around a lot.

Unlike a certain brown dog at my house, who apparently didn’t get the memo regarding Labradors and their love of having their photos taken.

I like my hair in this photo….and I’d like it better if Delilah would look at the camera!

The hair is okay in the this one, but Delilah still will not look at the camera.

I don’t like my hair and the damn dog still will not look at the camera!

At this point, I gave up. Of course, I laughed and laughed, because she just won’t let me get a good photo!

My Bistro Buddy

June 18, 2017 By Jodi

I’ve mentioned before that we have a small balcony on the front of our house. On cool days, I leave the door open a bit so the dogs can get out and get some fresh air when I’m at work. I love those days when I come home from work and Sampson is sleeping out there, waiting for me.

Oh hello Mama. Welcome home.

On the weekends, when the weather permits, I love to have my morning coffee on the little balcony.  I’ve added a little bistro table, and I bring my iPad, or computer with me.

My little Bistro table.

And just sit out, enjoying the quiet of the morning.

The dogs have already been walked, and most mornings, they just hang in the living room with Hubby, who is usually watching fishing or a movie.

The mornings that really make me smile, are the mornings when someone else joins me.

My Bistro Buddy

Do you have any weekend traditions in your house?
