Watta-Melon

August 25, 2014 By Jodi

We had an impromptu dinner party last evening.  Friends stopped by and we threw some burgers on the grill, I whipped up a macaroni and cheese, with baby zucchini.

I had picked up a watermelon at the store and during the afternoon I had cut it all up, so we’d have it during the week.

Sampson and Delilah love watermelon, in fact they sat right next to me in kitchen, getting bits and pieces of it.

After dinner was over, I thought about that watermelon and how it would be nice to have some fresh fruit to top off the meal.  I went and got the bowl and set it on the table.

Once again, Sampson and Delilah sat right there, waiting patiently for their share of the yummy melon.

After a few minutes the ladies got up and went into the other room, leaving the men at the table.  Until they decided to get up and go in the other room, leaving the luscious watermelon unattended.

It was at this point,  a certain Chocolate Lab decided to help herself to the watermelon, left unprotected on the table.

Jodi Chick got a frantic, “Christ, Delilah just ate what equates to almost 1/2 a watermelon, should I be worried?” instant message.

Thankfully the answer was no.  She may have an upset tummy, but it’s mostly water.

Damn good thing she’s so cute.

She makes it sound so impressive, but really, any self-respecting Lab can handle half a melon.

Today we’re joining My Brown Newfies, Alfie’s Blog and Snoopy’s Dog Blog for a little bit of Monday Mischief. Hop along and see what everyone else is up to.

Guess What?

August 21, 2014 By Jodi

Mushroom butt.

I suppose someone could argue it looks like cleavage, but I'm going with butt.

I suppose someone could argue it looks like cleavage, but I’m going with butt.

At least that’s what it looks like to me. 🙂

Our neighborhood has lots of trees and I’ve noticed that many of the lawns have a lot of mushrooms.  I noticed this guy on one of our walks and thought it looked like a butt, so I took a picture.

Book update

For those of you who aren’t friends with me on Facebook (honestly, why not?) I should let you know that I reached the 50,000 word mark on my book and I’m quickly closing in on 51,000. 🙂  This is taking up a lot of my time and I am finding it difficult to get around to your blogs.  I’m super behind in reading and I apologize profusely for not visiting.   But guys, I’m getting close!!!  I’m so excited and I can’t wait to share it with you!!!

Round Robin

You gonna be okay Bubba?

You gonna be okay Bubba?

For those of you who expressed interest in participating the Round Robin about health, I’m putting an e-mail together that should be out by the end of the weekend.  I took your e-mail addresses from the comments, but I promise, I haven’t sold them. 🙂  If you expressed interest and haven’t received the e-mail by Sunday, please let me know!  If you haven’t expressed interest but want to join, there’s plenty of time!!

I think as of right now, I have close to 30 bloggers participating, but we can add as we go.

I’m still looking for a name for the Round Robin, Dawn suggested “Healing Hounds and Hearts,” it’s wonderful, and the reason I’m not jumping on it, is because I don’t want the Round Robin to be exclusive to dogs.  I want people to share their stories of any animal that was hurt or injured and how they went about the healing process.

If any of you have any suggestions, I’d appreciate it.

Sampson’s First Muttgarita

August 14, 2014 By Jodi

The Friday after Sampson’s birthday I came to a package addressed to Sampson and me.  Hmmm….I didn’t order anything I said to Hubby.

I opened it up and saw this.

From our friends at For Love of a Dog!

I was tickled pink when I opened it up and saw Sampson got his very first Muttgarita!  Courtesy of Rudy, Jeffie, Rosie and Sue at For Love of a Dog.

Who knew they made these for dogs?

Who knew they made these for dogs? Isn’t it the cutest thing?

Sampson was beyond thrilled to receive a present in the mail.  And no worries, it was his tenth birthday, he’s certainly old enough to have a Muttgariata.

Aw, thanks Rudy, Jeffie, Rosie and Miss Sue, I love my new Muttgarita.

Aw, thanks Rudy, Jeffie, Rosie and Miss Sue, I love my new Muttgarita.

Of course I could only let him play with it a short time and then I took it away, to make sure a certain other dog didn’t get her teeth on it.

Thank you so much Sue, Rudy, Jeffie and Rosie!!  It was so thoughtful and kind of you to remember Sampson!

For those of you who don’t know Sue, she makes some damn fine dog jewelry, many of which she showcases on the blog, as well as on her Facebook page.  If you are looking for a unique gift for the dog lover in your life, check out Sue’s jewelry here.  Personally I have a few of Sue’s pieces myself and I absolutely LOVE them.

Speaking of Delilah…

I love when she greets me at the door with a toy.

Who Who is at the door?

Look HOO I found Mama.

She carried it around for a couple of minutes, but she’s so good at avoiding the camera, that my photos aren’t that great.

Why do you insist on flashing that thing in my face?

Why do you insist on flashing that thing in my face?

Please excuse the stuffing all over the floor, one of Sampson’s other birthday toys met an untimely demise.
