I Can't Stop

December 3, 2011 By Jodi

I tried to take the night off, I really did.  I told myself I deserved a break.  But my fingers betrayed me, they were itching to be at the key board and I’m just so damn addicted to blogging, I can’t stop myself.  It looks like you’re stuck with me.  🙂

I got about 6:30 am with the dogs and after the nirvana of coffee and a few quick reads through some blogs, I headed out the door by 8:15 am.  I won’t bore you with details, I will just say I finally sat down about 7:30 pm and YES I managed to get almost an hours walk in with Sampson and Delilah.

Why does it seem the busier I am, the more I have to do?

Why can’t I be more like this….?

Tomorrow I have plans to take the dogs on an as yet unexplored trail and then in the afternoon I am volunteering at Our Companions Holiday Wreath sale.

You may have noticed we have a new award on the side-bar.  That is from our dear friend Bassas over at Bassasblog.  If all goes as planned tomorrow night, my post will be about the new award and the responsibilities that go with it.

In the meantime, go check Bassas out, I think you will enjoy meeting Bassas and learning about her little corner of the world.

Follow-Up Friday – Lady Found

December 2, 2011 By Jodi

For those new to the blog, my follow-up Friday provides me with an opportunity to update or revise a post from the previous week.  You know sometimes you post about something and you need an update but it doesn’t warrant a whole blog.  Or sometimes someone made a comment that really resonated with you.  Yup, Follow-Up Friday baby. 😉

How Can I Help – Update:

Normally I wouldn’t follow-up on a  post this old, but I think it’s important to let you all know that Lady has been found and returned to Mel!

All of you who facebooked, tweeted and posted about this played a part in some way, so pat yourself on the back!

Sunday Morning Walks – Author’s Note:

I think taking two dogs on the rail trail is too much for me.  Monday and Tuesday the backs of my arms ached from the work of holding the two of them….wait a minute, maybe I NEED to take them to tone up those arms. 🙂

Chewer or Tearer Upper? – Author’s Note:

Many of you wrote in telling me the things your dogs have eaten/chewed/destroyed. Many items (shoes, cell phones and yes even retainers) I had heard of before, but I must admit the electric razor surprised me the most.

I guess my lesson in this story is to be a better housekeeper and not set Delilah up to fail.  She really is a good girl and her antics make me laugh on a daily basis.

No Bells Or Whistles For Me – Author’s Note:

Thank you all for the congratulations.  Some days blogging came very easily and some days it was a real challenge.  But you all know that because you are turning out blog posts every day too!  Truthfully I think most of you are putting out way better posts than I am.  But I still appreciate the congratulations, what really humbles me is how many of you take the time to read and comment.    What I treasure most about this past year is the connections I have made and the extended family I now have.

And to those of you who have just completed NaBloPoMo , my hat is off to you.  You churned out far more in a month than I have in the entire year.  You rock!

Some of you have asked if I will shoot for two years in a row.  I really want to try to continue to post every day, but I don’t think I will put the pressure on myself that I did this past year.  If I do it that will be great, but ultimately I want to still be blogging this time next year. 🙂

Thanks again for all your support!

No Bells Or Whistles For Me

December 1, 2011 By Jodi

Today this little blog is one year old!!!!  Exactly one year ago today, I wrote my very first post.  Interestingly enough, it wasn’t about my dogs.

Before you go blowing horns and whistles, I have a confession.  I missed day forty-one.

It was the day after my granddaughter was born and I was taking care of my grandson. With all of the business associated with taking care of a toddler and running back and forth to the hospital, I plumb forgot about it.

I woke-up at 1:45 in the morning and realized I had missed the date, at which point it was too late.

So Jodi + Blogging 365 days in a row = FAIL.

But I don’t consider myself a failure, looking back at blog posts I wrote in the beginning and comparing them to the posts I write today, I can see how my writing has improved. I can see how I have grown as a person and a blogger.

I started this blog not knowing what I would write about, but I was determined to write.

I was so naive, I couldn’t even come up with a clever name for the blog, I just simply used my name.

In the beginning, my posts had no form, they were like one long paragraph.  I thought that was how a blog was supposed to look, I had no real idea what a blog was back then. 🙂  And how little I knew about blogging….

My first posts….had no tags  and were not categorized.

My first ping back…. I deleted as spam.  I didn’t even know what a ping back was.

I left comments up that I later found out….WERE spam.

Those first few months I was basing my blog posts about whatever struck my fancy.  It may have been a recipe one day and a current event the next.  I was searching for my voice, my passion as it were.  Round about Day Forty Six, I started writing about the dogs and Eureka, my voice was found.

So right now I want to thank you all for supporting me and hanging in there when I really didn’t know what I was doing, I wouldn’t be here writing today if it weren’t for all of you and I want you to know how much I appreciate you.

In honor of our blogoversary I’m going to do something I’ve never done before, I’m going to give something away. It will either be a toy or treat for your favorite furry friend and if you don’t have a pet, then I will humanize it.

All you have to do to enter this give away, is leave me a comment at the end of the blog.

Please make sure to leave your comment by end of day Sunday, I will choose the winner randomly and let you all know on Monday.

Oh and please don’t think just because my year is up I’m going to stop blogging.  You can’t get rid of me that easily. 🙂

Thank you again for the support, you will never know how much it means!
